.gif is GIFf
.mid is Midi
.jpg is JPEG

I can send all of the above fine, but can someone please tell me the resource file type name for

.imy
.thm
.mpn

Without these I can't send Imelodies, themes or games to my phone. Please don't say use the search, as my connection is messed up and won't stay on for much more than 1 minute. I will track this topic on my phone.

I donŽt know if i understood the question right.. but:
.imy= monophonic ringtone
.thm= theme file
.mpn= mophun game

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Nope, you misunderstood

My connection seems good now and I can search, It's the four charchter MIME types I'm after.

Posted by wrath000
AddType application/vnd.eri.thm .thm
AddType application/vnd.mophun.application .mpn
AddType audio/melody .imy
or
AddType audio/x-imy .imy

..hope this helps

Nope, that's not what I'm looking for. It's the equivalent of the examples I gave at the top, only 4 characters that fit. Don't you have some kind of program in which you can find out file type signatures? I use file buddy on my mac, but the file types will be the same on both.

Posted by wrath000
Don't really know what you are talking about then...
I can only find the MIME types for you. I am not familiar with macintosh, sorry.

:-( 4 little letters is all i need for each type. Here's an exampl of what they do. He i put MIDI on the resource of a ringtone.imy file in place of TEXT, it will send it as a .mid file to my sounds and won't play. He i put PREF on a Mophun file it will send really slowly to games but the game won't work. I've lost my www connection now so can't search anymore.

Posted by wrath000
I know what you mean now. I will try to find out...

Cheers mate, i'm rubbish at explaining things.

I can't find anything, sorry...

I'll post here, if I find something

Ok thanks, topic is bookmarked. Next time i manage a connection I'll be looking and maybe even pm the other mac users. Anyone elses help would be good. He your a mac user and can send imy, themes or games via infra see to your phone, could you get file buddy from cnet then open the 3 files in it and tell me the file signature type name?

Posted by Hansi
Just a thought but why the bonkers do you think you need the file type and creator?

Just use Bluetooth File Exchange and submit the file, it won't care about the file type nor creator... Those things are extinct with the death of the resource fork.

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Prolly because i'm using an original bondi blue imac on os8.6 and them There's my non bt T300. Without these letters my phone won't take the files.

Posted by Hansi
Hmmm, interesting didn't even know that you could transfer these in OSes older than 9

But then again these are pretty new file formats and most likely don't have file type/creator types regulated on note of them being data fork only too...

@Hansi, nor did I, It took almost a year before someone here pointed me at these 2 Holy apps.

You're unlikely to find a filetype for those files as they're not really Mac files, so Apple won't have designated a filetype for them.

However, try BINA which is the generic filetype for a binary file, or just TEXT, and hopefully the software you're using to transfer the files will strip this info anyway, because the phone can't use it.

Also, try dragging the sender application to File Buddy, to see what filetypes it accepts.

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Text is the default they already have, but they don't send like that. Tried BINA, no luck. I have actually used file mapping to assign Mactar to .mpn files, it made them PREF and they sent really slowly to games, but when I opened it said restart game, perhaps the game files are messed up?

Posted by Jools
How about changing them to JPEG (even though they're not) but leave the filename extension as is? The transfer software will accept it as being a valid file and the phone will still know what to do with the file by its extension.

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Tried that alreeady, no luck. But i'm sorted now, i just file mapped .thm .imy .mpn to mactar, this makes them APPL and TAR in file buddy, imys, games and themes in to the correct places, its only games that want restarts and take 10 mins to send, but i can do without those. Thanks for all the help.

www.xgryde.dk/wap.wml and www.xgryde.dk solved my mophun problems. Have a look at upload, then arkiv.

@BOSSHOGG
I have some themes with "ogle" as creator and "GIFf" as file type, but named "title.thm" and those works on my t68i. Imy melodies are just "TEXT" as file type and "ttxt" as creator and name is as simple as"title.imy". You may try it. Good luck

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Yeah burm, all my .imy files are TEXT and ttxt, but the t300 won't ackowledge them. They work when mactar is assigned to them though, I'll give the oogle and GIFf a try on themes, though I ain't got any space right now due to my new mophun games. Thanks again.

All right then.
IŽll be in touch.
Bye now.

Posted by BOSSHOGG
Ok, back to themes. I've extracted classical using mactar, changed the gif in it keeping the same name. Then created another archive, but since it all has to be in a folder, the folder name appears in the file, so i can't open it when sent to the phone. Can someone tell me exactly what to do with the 3 files and mactar?
