Every so often, mobile phone manufacturers are inspired and release truly innovative phones onto the market, for the rest to follow... Which phones have been the most innovative to date, regardless of manufacturer - in terms of size, functionality, battery life, combination of these, etc? I have listed a few I think "changed" the mobile phone world....
Ericsson T68 - that joystick, the menu system!
Nokia 7110 - the naviroller was AWESOME!!!
Ericsson T28 - size, batterylife...
Nokia 7650 - the ORIGINAL cameraphone!
Ericsson R380 - they called it, a SMARTPHONE
What are your thoughts? Which phones changed your world???

I am thinking T68m/i because when it was released it was THE phone to have. At the moment i am not so sure though, not much could beat the '68 in terms of being 'the best phone by a long way' as the '68 was when it was released

the k6 it was a classic,it is famous the world over&there are still a few in use today

To me the best phone ever made has to be the Trium Geo. My 1st wap phone. I loved it, ahead of its time with no RSA data and screen animations. Ugly though. Also got a free c12 with mine with cellnet which I sold for 20quid. Cheapest brand new phone I ever had. Next best the Motorola V2288 with radio and rubber fronts.

Not sure if innovative is the right word here, but the nokia 5110 gets my vote with its interchangable covers. Every f**ker had one. . the rise of the corporation we all love to hate!!

8210 inspired small phones r520 first phone with bluetooth built in sl45 first java phone with multimedia card

Nokia 3210, change back and front and compose your own ringtones plus send them bloody picture msgs. Cost me a small fortune ordering them for 5quid each and the 6210 slim, wap, diary, caller group pictures. 3330 animated Screensavers. Everyone having one and showing them off. God all that talk about phones, horny now .:-D.

I would say the nokia 5110 because it was the first gaming phone. With snake being the best phone game i know of. And the T68i. Simply because it has stood the test of time. Which not many phones do there days. It is still going strong after over i year of being around.

SE t68i, just a great phone. Siemens S10/S11 because it were the first mobiles with a colour screen. Siemens sl45 because it was the first java enabled phone (even the first smartphone I think). Siemens Sl10 cause it was the first slide phone I believe (Not the 7650), the small and beautifull Nokia 8210 and the Nokia 7110 with the cool naviroller.

3310 as it brought the mobile phone to the mass and when i say mass i mean mass market!

Posted by -Vlad-
As I mentioned before the Siemens S10 is the first one

SE T300, the first hi-q, colourscreen phone that had a reasonable price.

I hate to admit it, the old Nokia phone back in 1994 or 95 (I don't remember the model) it really kicked a*s. True, it was a brick and it still had an external antenna, but it was so much easier to use than the old motorola phones. Too bad no one used SMS back then.

@ bart
Sorry mate just a few errors there:
1st phone with infrared was NK702
1st 4096 colour display TCC Q285, then samsung t100
1st communicator Nk9000
Those are all I can remmeber at the mo.

Nokia communicator 9000 was also great. Although it was heavier than a large brick, it was pretty good with several new features. (first 64 k memory phone) Also Sansung A100 was first mp3 phone.
Posted by bart
okay then i forgot about the T100. but i did know about the TCC a friend of mine had it here in belgium (import) damm that old nokia. was there even a cominicator before the 9110? how big was that one?
Posted by Geezay
Yeah, there was a Communicator 9000, Size 174 x 64 x 38 and Weight 397 grams ! It was a beast!
I wonder why no-one has mentioned the much loved T610 as innovative - so much technology in such a compact package!
Posted by BalooDK
Geezay - I go for that !!
I had ALOT of phone, but the T610 is a working mirakel !!
I believe it will take some time before someone can beat that one!!
I think nokia 2110 must have changed the world back then, with a menu system that didn't take 4 month to learn !!!

the 3650 cause it's is the SUPER BRICK!

got to say the t68i. great design. great feature set. best bluetooth handset as of yet.

To me it was the R380.
It had the big screen, stylus, wap got a totally new dimension, it had it all! Shame it was too early for GPRS.
I loved that phone!
Posted by panlek
Definitely p800. The best phone ever. ;-)
Posted by mixin
t68 is most innotive of recent times... had everything you need on a phone
dont think 3310 was very innovative... was more or less the same as the 3210 but with diff covers...
5110 was very advanced
x-press on covers! AND snake woooooo
Posted by Eleventy7
Nokia 6110 was a damn fine fone in it's day, and surely an innovator with it's flip paint job!
8210 was the first hugely popular small fone
5110/3210/3310 was the first example of Nokia putting the same fone in a different case and calling it new!
T68 was the dogs danglies, and still a mighty fine fone to this day
P800 first fone to be idolised a year before release!

I have heard some people mention Tel.Me mobile phones, especially the T919, with the touchscreen and all, but no-one I know seems to have used it, just raving reviews. Can anyone out there "tell me" just how great this phone is, and if compares with our beloved SEs, any innovation in it? According to the website, and esato (http://www.esato.com/phones/index.php?phone=66) no java, no bluetooth, no voice memo...

Nokia 7110 cool slider and naviroller. Sl45i. Java, mmc mp3, could store any file for pc to pc transfer. T68, had it all. Siemens s55, what T68 should've been. T610 because its everything and beautiful.

Firstly im not going to say the P800, oh sorry i just did, anyway it has to be the first phone that i ever bought back in 1993 which was a Nokia and it absolutely huge, it had no caller id, no text function, about three ringtones , and a pull out aerial the size of the empire state building, unfortunately i can't remember the model number but this maybe just aswell, but it certainly was a much better phone than the Sony mars bar with the pop up ear piece, boy how times have changed and for the better.

I think aswell the Nokia 7110 roller, flip, 1000 cap. phone book, and a zillon sms messages, still got mine i use it as a back up when the T610 go´s away for firmware upgrade
