I now that "search works" but when someone starts in esato forums the first look is terrible, things are... donīknow... kind a mess (no ofenses)
Iīd like members help to put all about sync servers here. I use two but I prefer the first one (fast, 120 contacts/2 min in a WAP GSM connection)
1) http://syncml.phoneparadise.com
first register in, mobile phone settings are inside your new account
2) http://www.calmeno.com
mobile phone settings are in http://www.calmeno.com/html/SyncML_config.html
Hope it helps to new users...

is it possible to synch over IR using these remote servers?

No, only WAP/GPRS
Posted by wapchimp
Ir has to be lined up to your mobile. This is a local sync. A remote sync is via wap etc

In order to sync with your PC over IR you will need to install XTNDConnect which came on the CD with your phone. If you don't have the CD you can download XTNDConnect here

If the question was about sync phone-to-syncML free servers using IR... in other words...
1. phone-pc using IR (...to sync with a PIM)
2. pc-syncML free servers (from a PIM...)
Calmeno has a plug-in for outlook in http://www.calmeno.com/html/demos.html
If not... the answer was already posted.

what's the advantage of a remote sync?

You don't have to be near the gizmo you're sync-ing with, LOL

1. Nobody is free of a fatal Master Reset. So, You can keep a backup of contacts and calendar
2. You can purchase another phone (I really hope T610 arrives soon in Peru) and just sync.
3. You cand edit them on internet and then sync (if you surf a lot of course).
anything else... mmm nop.

Remote sync...
Pros: Works over WAP so No need for cable, IR, or BlueTooth; Easy to set up; Don't have to be near your computer to synchronize
Cons: The service costs money; WAP costs money; won't be able to sync if the remote server is down; Slower then local sync; Someone else has *ALL* your personal data (even though they claim they don't have access to it)
Local sync...
Pros: Faster then Remote sync; You don't have to upload your personal data to a remote location; Doesn't cost anything to use; You have complete control of how the information is going to be transformed; Other applications on the PC can access the synchronized information.
Cons: Unless your PC already has an IR port you will probably need to buy a Cable, IR dongle, or BlueTooth dongle; You have to be near your PC to sync; Might be a little tricky to set up for the first time; You will need a PIM manager (Outlook)
Hope you find this usefull

Please Help Help Help!
I recently switched from a Nokia 7160 with Cingular Wireless. I was able to use their "My Wireless Window" Now I have the SonyEricsson T62u. I really like it, but I want to sync my Microsoft Outlook Contacts. Is there anyone that could help. I have tried several things I have found on this discussion but none of them seem to work. I would like to use Cingulars website. Please provide the info needed.
Thanks

I found a wicked site for syncML backups.. www.myphonesaved.com I signed up with my T610. It only backs up the phonebook but the handset config was all done by SMS. All I had to do was just start my sync.

I really liked Wrath000's Post about the Pros and Cons. I do have Data cables for my Sony phones but I alway lose my phone when im out. And thats the time I most need to make calls. A friend recommended myphonesaved.com. I decided to go with their remote service for this reason. Now I can always pop into a friends/internet cafe etc, log on and see my numbers. They intend to introduce SMS services to.. What is strange tho.. Remote syncing my T610 is a lot faster than my T68i

I've tried setting up phoneparadise to sync with a T610, following the R520 and T68 notes, and it doesn't connect. Emails to sync@tactel.se as specified on their web page have not produced a response.

Hi, Itīs good to see you are finding more SyncML servers. Also itīs important to remark that http://www.myphonesaved.com costs Ģ29.99 per year.
About "T610 problem" with phoneparadise. I think we need to know if there are T610 users using phoneparadise correctly... Post. Anyway you could try calmeno instead.

I've tried Calmeno - same message, 'Synchronization interrupted'.
Makes me think that there is a more fundamental problem. I'm using the standard 'Orange GPRS' WAP profile which is working fine for normal WAP. I have some data profiles but the menu does imply you should use a WAP profile.
Ideas welcome.

Just for keeping alive this thread. Most of you must know MightyPhone (www.mightyphone.com) but I hadnīt posted in. Well, seeng that phoneparadise and calmeno (weblicon) has downed, this is the only almost free (10 times) service that I know and WORKS.
Maybe U can use it for backuping before an mobile upgrade or flash it or just to see ur contacts online whereever u are... donīt know

Its really sad that calmeno is down. Works on web only with emails and no free sms any more. Used it almost 1 year long :-(
