Yahoo! Messenger and T68

I've seen some people looking for a way to chat using their T68. I've been using Yahoo! Messenger Mobile for quite a while now. It is very convenient since I also use Yahoo! Messenger on my desktop and notebook.

You need an existing Yahoo! account.

Create a bookmark, called Yahoo! Messenger or whatever, and set the URL to mm.yahoo.com

Go to the bookmark and when you login, you will be displayed on the Yahoo! Messenger list as "Arnold Cruz (I'm Mobile)" for example.

One caveat though, you cannot initiate a conversation. But once you get a message you can reply, send smileys, etc.

Since the interface is via WAP, most WAP-enabled phones should work.

I prefer the msn messenger!

how to set up the msn messenger ?

what's the wap site of msn messenger?

Posted by arnoldc
guys, there is no msn messenger for mobiles. msn mobile only offers alerts, and does not work unless you have subscription in the u.s.a. msn mobile wap site (mobile.msn.com) no longer works.

Hi arnoldc!

It seems like you can also send messages to the chat group by pressing the options key under the Yes button and from the list there is a send message option! I don't know for sure whether it works or not because I have not received any answers to my message that I have sent but I have sent a message to the group!

I hope it helps!

@ally, you must be referring to SMS groups.

@arnoldc - I am not sure arnold! when I enter the availabe groups it gives the "Chat Friends" group as available! And I don't have "Chat Friends" under my SMS groups, so it must be something else and when I said that you find send message option that's when you push the options button underneath the Yes button and it only comes on when I am connected to the Yahoo! Messenger. So it must be the chat group that I am sending to! If you find anything else please let me know!
Thanx!

@ally, you are absolutely right! and that makes it even more fun! now if yahoo! will just add WAP push alerts to alert you of incoming messages, that would be perfect.

has anybody tried using icq through gprs on t68? sabi sa icq website pwede daw gamitin by using gprs, wala naman instructions pano.

Yeah , I used ICQ via GPRS and it's really cool. Of course it doesn't have exactly same features with ICQ but it's enough for a mobile phone. Try wap88.com .

hi all-
i found a site that will enable you to send and receive messages via MSN Messenger over WAP or SMS (no -that's not a typo!) it's at:

http://www.mister-i.com/

i think it's a spanish company- most of the instructions are in spanish
the only other problem- it's not free -1 euro per month.

take a look- for any of you that NEED to use messenger, it might be worth it.

I mostly use my e-mail account over gprs, but I'll try out the different possibilities via IM, but I doubt any SMS messaging could be for free.No revenue...Anyway, it would be nice if icq lets you do it?Never cared much for hotmail, and msn im other than for anonymous stuff.G.

Hhaha What do u mean u can't start a conversation on yahoo meseenger? I use it for over 1.5 years and never heard something like that! U log onto http://wap.oa.yahoo.com, choose messenger log in and use it like u use it on ur desktop! The oa server is the american server it has richer features compared to the european version. The mesn is not working over wap ...there's a thread in the General talking about it. Wap88.com 4 icq is great too! But Y! mess is the best!
