Hi
I have set up an e mail account on the o2 website and set up the phone (T610) as per the topics on this board but when I send and recieve, the phone connects etc. then I get the message "Wrong mailbox or password" I have checked the usernames, passwords and all the other settings loads of times and can't find anything wrong. I am connecting with the o2 wap gprs account. Anyone got ant ideas? This is driving me mad.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Rich

Did you put your full email address as username?
Posted by RichT610
Hi
Yup, certainly did m8.
Thanks for the reply though.
Here's my settings
protocol: pop3
inc. server: 193.113.160.13
incoming port: 110
mailbox: (username)@o2.co.uk
password: (password)
outgoing server: 193.113.160.13
outgoing port: 25
e-mail address: (username)@o2.co.uk
I have checked this but still I get the message "Wrong mailbox or password"
Anyone else have any ideas please
Cheers, Rich

have u tried just putting your username in the mailbox field rather that the full username@o2.co.uk?

Yeah, I think I recall that for O2 email accounts you only need the account username and not the full email address.
i.e. phil.n instead of phil.n@o2.co.uk
(before anyone tries that is not my email address

I think the problem might be with the data comm. Here is what I use:
O2 MOBILEWEB
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Userid: web
Password: web
DNS Address: 193.113.200.200
Then for the email connections:
Connect using: O2 MOBILEWEB (above).
Protocol: POP3
Incoming Server: mail.o2.co.uk Port: 110
Mailbox: username@o2.co.uk
Password:
Outgoing Server: smtp.o2.co.uk Port: 25
email address: As mailbox
Works for me!
Good Luck

You posted that you use 193.113.160.13 i think the problem may be in the omission of a 0 in the address try using 193.113.160.013

If he is getting the error message "wrong mailbox or password" then it is not the data account which is wrong.
It means what it says - either the mailbox is wrong or the password is wrong.
Phil.
edit: Again, the IP address will not be the problem. It is very rare that you need to include the leading zero/zeros but this still isn't the cause.

Well I dont want to call you a liar or anything but the O2 servers do not act this way - I should know, I have used them for years.

The APN he is using does not recognise the mailbox or password, not that they are wrong!
Posted by phil.n
APN=GPRS. If he was using the wrong APN then he would either receive the error message "wrong APN" or "Server not found".
The fact that he is able to connect to the server means that there is nothing wrong with the data connection/servers/IP addresses.
When you receive an incorrect username/password message it means that you have successfully connected to the server but your request is invalid.

Ok, I just read the entire thread again and either you are confused or you have told us the wrong information.
You cannot send and receive email using the GPRS wap account. You will not however get the error messages you have told us.
The only way to send and receive email on O2 is to either use the GSM dialup or the internet gprs package as detailed by anap.

The settings you posted are fine. I had the exact same problem, all i can suggest is logging into your O2 mail on wap and send yourself an email then read it while on wap. I did and it seemed to work soon after. I didn't change any settings outside my email settings.

Hi
Sorted. Thanks for all the info above. The answer was simple and some of you won't believe it. The sollution was to put a zero in front of the 13 on the incoming and outgoing server addys as said by abostin. None of the other data com or mail settings needed altering. They are as I posted above with the exception of the zero bit. Still connecting with o2 wap gprs. I have now sucsessfully sent and recieved e mails on my t610.
Cheers all for your help.
Rich
**Update**
Hi again,
And have just sucsessfully sent an e mail with a picture attached.
