Well, basicly, I need an information! I am going to france soon for a long period of time and as i don't speak french (yet), i can't look it up myself:)
What i need is this: some1 that uses orange france to tell me if u guys have the "WAP UNLIMITED" offer ? And are they the best in coverage? That was my point, hope some1 sees it:)thanks!

Now i wanna know ( and i guess i'll have to find out alone that too: -D) the best and cheapest french network to cover Montpellier:) I mean i know there's no such thing as good and cheap but a good balance between it , there sure is:)Any1?

Hi,
Be aware that offers in France are probably not as extended as elsewhere.
If you talk about cheap what are you looking for, pre-paid cards, subscription of a "light" monthly fixed limit?
Ill' try to answer!

Hey tonio! Thanx4ur answer! I am looking for a lite subscription at max 15-20 euro/month. I'd also like to buy a phone with the subscription-max 1year (samsung,se,phillips, motorola not nokia) prefferably midle-hi end. I looked the other nite and found out that most of the offers r around 18-23 e which is ok. What bugs me is that the price per minute is 30cents.r there any cheaper? Maybe on prepaid? And all these cuz the only french i know is: je m'apelle..hahaha

I'm going to France/Spain/Italy for a couple months and was wondering what my best option (carrier and plan) would be? I know very little about European carriers so even basic knowledge would be helpful.

Concerning France, everything concerning GSM is quite expensive.
As carrier, you should chose Orange or SFR as they have best coverage: Orange (Former Itineris or France Telecom) is best, SFR second.
I only have good experience with Orange. My subscription is of no use to you as it would be too expensive. My wife uses prepaid with Mobicarte and is quite happy with it.
Eventough, prices are high for communication (± .50 E per minute) as she didn't choose special times for cheaper communications. If you accept special hours for calls (12.00-14.00 and 17.00-21.00) you get .30 euro for these and .60 for the other hours.
As you seem to be doing quite some wap, I guess your best choice would be a small monthly subscription of 60 or 120 minutes. The smallest is, as you found out yourself, the 1 hour deal with .30E per minute if you go over the "hour".
After that you can go for subscriptions 2, 3, 4h, etc. (36, 44, 51 E and every time .30E per minute after the subscribed hours).
In the subscriptions, you can chose a favorite number that you can call for a cheaper price.
Hope I'm of some help to you,
Bye,

10x 4the quick answer. So the 18E/monthly from sfr(i think) is the best or the equivalent orange offer! Can u pls tell me if the 6E offer of wap unlimited from orange reffers to any wap sites rather then the orange 1?it war written in tiny words at the bottom of the offer there:) i never thought the offer would b so limited and expensive over there.

Ha, Ha,
Sorry I'm a bit late but I have to work sometimes....
If I read right, you only have access to to services of orange and their quite limited.
Yes your right, the stuff is very expensive overhere and even more limited. As there are only three carriers in France, you can image what happens... I don't think that they agree on pricing but there is not much challenge.
Another sport is that their offers are a real pain in the neck. (and elsewhere) They're so frickin' complecated that when you have something that seems affordable, you don't change because you wouldn't understand what your buying!!!!!!
I almost forgot, this 6E WAP offer is an additional price on one of the subscriptions. It cannot be bought as a stand-alone.
Message to maverickpl:
If your travelling around in Europe, I guess you don't have a choice: take a 900/1800 unblocked phone and buy pre-paid in the countries you are. In Europe you cannot afford to roam (unless you want a shorter trip than planned). It's so expensive that your money melts like snow for the sun!!
Bye all of you,
Tonio

@tonio: oh so u had2work2?:o damn,i thought this shit only happens2me! Haha well, those monopolist sons of bitches! I would choose orange cuz they r big and they have that unlimited wap thing that i use right now here in ro. i know its a stand alone service added to the subscription.i pay 8$ for the subs and 4$ for the wap.can i get a decent phone from orange for that 20e subs?

@701
...this is crying time again.....
No kinky phones for these subscriptions:
10 E: Alacatel 311, Samsung R210 & Nokia 3410
29 E: Motorola C330 & Sagem myX3
and than it goes up rapidely 69, 119, 249E and so on
Either you buy a cheap non-blocked (900/1800) phone at home and bring it, or you'll have to do with the phones above.
I bought a very cheap Ericsson R520m some weeks ago, might be a hint...
@Miss UK,
No O2 in France - Orange, SFR or Bouygues. Here in France it's like Ford with his T Model: any colour as long as it's black
