GD87 - using Irda with Apple G4 notebook

I am able to connect my mobile phone, panasonic GD87, to my Apple G4 because the Irda icon displays the 'connected to GD87' but when I try connecting via the irDA, it gives me an error saying no dial tone or something. Perhaps my configuration on the irDA is not correct. Can anyone shed some light here.

Has anyone tries this and works?
