when will this be out? how much will it approx. be?

I cant really answer any of your question as I live in australia and we get everything last. Does anybody have any info like how it will connect to the phone and how big it will be? I am really looking forward to its realease.

don't think it connects to the phone physically. it only connects via bluetooth and the only function is to function as a handsfree for calls when you listen to music on the player, it will mute the music...
seems like there's no cables for it to be connected to the PC. cos there's a recording function on the player for direct MP3/ATRAC compression like MDs-to-stereos and the other way is via PC adapters for Memory Stick Duo. I hope you can transfer tunes using a bluetooth connection between PC and HBM-30 but it's gonna be slow to transfer via bluetooth.

My GUESS is that there will be some kind of reader supplied with the player. I am basing this on the fact that the old MP3 player was supplied MMC card reader and software...
My main curiousity lies in what price it will sell at. It has to be really competitive, as (just like pointed out above) the only real extra feature on this one compared to other MP3 players is its ability to cut off the music for calls...

L8shop were quoting £189 inc VAT, but after reading criticism of them on here I will be going to Expansys, who have no price up yet.
I have read quite a lot about this and it seems that it does not ship with a reader, and it uses half-sized memory sticks, which come with an adaptor to make them compatible with ordinary MS reader/writers.
As to whether or not files can be sent by BT, well this is up for debate; I have read people saying both "yes" and "no". However, I would imagine that BT is WAY too slow to be of much use.
My main concern is whether or not it implements DRM in any sort of aggressive way: I have a mate who can only record his own personal CDs onto minidisc 3 times and then the player won't do it again and all because of Sony's ridiculous DRM policy.
That could make all the difference for me in terms of buying it, as I have a "core" or favourite tracks that are regularly on and off my existing player. (Certainly more than 3 times.)

ya ultimately i would like to acess its functionality before i make a decision to get an ipaq or another ipod

£189 sounds VERY expensive though, doesn't it?!
Posted by gilmartin
No doubt about it. It will be expensive for an MP3 player. My first MP3 player cost less than that in 1998!

dun forget to attribute part of that cost to the sony memory stick duo... the original MS were expensive, the newer smaller duo costs a bomb
