NEW NOKIA STYLUS PHONE !!

http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?id=567

Posted by mr_arrow
No way that phone is going to compete with the P800....
I don't see the point in having a penphone when the screen is so small...
Looks like all other Nokia phones...

Posted by Zand
It says it only will be available in Asia-Pacific area...

Posted by nocturnalchipmunk
damn asians (i'm not racist.. they're just so spoiled )...

Posted by Rashkae
The touchpad is for chinese character input only.

Posted by Jammers
Looks rubbish as usual.

Read the Nokia press release for a good laugh. Something about the Stylus being stored on the back of the phone as it represenst ancient Chinese warriors who used to carry their swords on their back. What a load of rubbish.

Like all Nokias it will be a style no substance phone.

SMS has a huge market in China so this will be attractive to those who can't handle keypad Chinese input methods.

My S55 has asian language too :-) that new nokia is kak huhh

Is the screen a touch screen as well? Seems kind of pointless with a pen, if you can't use it on the screen doesn't it?

Users need only flip the keypad for the touch screen.. it's not meant to be a smartphone competitor...

It's bound to be a big seller in Asia - Nokia could be working on UIQ pen-based input phone.. only a matter of time before they release a P800 competitor..

Please forgive me what I am going to say. But the phone has a cool design. But I do wonder like PPcrockar what the use it with the pen, when its having real buttons?

sorry to say this but this is the most useless friggin phone ever

Posted by FRiC
Hmm, I guess the people who think this phone is useless don't realize how much Chinese phone users depend on SMS, and how incredibly difficult it is to input Chinese without a handwriting recognition system.

Oh, a lot of Chinese computers have a touchpad on the computer specifically used for text entry.

It's even got a built in Chinese-English dictionary/translator.. seems cutting edge to me for a normal phone.

LOL! That is really really stupid. No way that phone can compete with the P800. I totally agree, what's the idea of having a pen etc on that little screen? Foolish... and, hm, ugly is it too.

How can they even call it a PDA?

That's why Nokia's not marketing it as a PDA!!

It's aimed soley for the Asian market, with the ability to send SMS written in Chinese characters! Also incorporates s/w to translate it from Chinese-English.

But it just shows that Nokia are working on pen-based input phones. It's only a matter of time before Nokia releases a UIQ based Smartphone!

The 6108 is just a niche entry-level phone, aimed at making Chinese text entry possible in the low end (Series 40), which enables text messaging easier. It's NOT meant to compete with middle/high end (Symbian OS) devices.

everyone who is dissing this phone is crazy,

It looks alright enough, considering I'm not a bit Nokia phone, everyone konws it's not trying to compete with the P800 so PLEASE PEOPLE STOP SAYING IT. It's basicly a 6100 with a clever text input method and supports traditional chinese okay.

It will work all over the world and will ship with english recognition out of the box so don't be to surprised if you see folks in other parts of the world using them. And yes I own a P800 and yes I love it to bits,

I can see why this phone will appeal to the asia/pacific market - at least Nokia are taking a step in the right direction. I'd imagine that they're working on some kind of touch-screen phone for the US/European market - they'd be fools not to. I personally don't think the phone looks too bad myself, but I'm definitely a SE guy!

Exactly! I totally agree with you
And I bet that in a few month time we'll see copy products made by other manufacturers, and who knows maybe SE... But if SE makes (manages to make) one it will probably be a fantastic idea! (on this forum at least)

Why reserve handwriting recognition to high-end expensive mobiles only or to PDA's?! Hmmm?

its not meant to compete with p800. just make using the phone easier to navigate

NOTE TO EVERYBODY THAT POSTS A NEW TREATH ABOUT A "NEW" PHONE
plz add date, and serie number to the titel of the topic. THX

Posted by fijbert
??? come again?
we shld post the date and what serie number?

Posted by bart
6108 is this phones serie number. when i saw this post i thought, wow nokia is striking back, but this phone has already been introduced some time ago. and the date is better to know if its an old post or not.
and by saying the serie number we can avoid making the same treads. like new SE phone will it should be new SE phone T226 (03/04/2003). its much better for the users and the site

I hv taken ur advice down to my new thread about G50
