Ain't the Smart Amazing phone also the Orange SPVx Tanager!?!?
Posted by hendrickchan
i think its the orange spv alright... its smaller than the p800, and seems to have a lot of features. i would get one, but my carrier is globe.

primarily the smart amazing fone is a fone with pda cababilities. i think its the same thing as the spv of orange.. a lower version of it. it has multimedia playing capabilities but no bluetooth, touchscreen and java. its a bit slow(ang bagal ng cameara when capturing movies) although the resolution is quite good. easy to navigate and feature-rich but it should not be compared to the p800. the p800 is completely on the opposite end of the spectrum... a far more superior device(bulky nga lang).

@just_cruizen
How could it be a lower version of Orange's SPV - its the same as the SPVx - aint the SPVx newer than the SPV!?!
I agree on your point of not comparing it with the P800, the P800 is far more superior...

I heard the amazing phone charges only with through a PC's USB. If that is true, then it is a very critical limitation. Its PDA functions are also inferior

its slow and hangs often.

it is very slow and very cumbersome to use. and from using the phone, it is very clear that microsoft does not have a clear understanding about how mobile phone users use their phones. (keep in mind that in the USA, they basically use their mobiles for voice only, and are just now starting to learn about SMS!)
in typical MS fashion, it will probably begin to work properly by about the 3rd version. compare it to a P800? nowhere close... but then again, nothing is!

* also it won't support symbian applications and palm os apps as micro$oft wants to compete with those platforms which means that only third party apps licensed by micro$oft would be supported. Just remember: micro$oft=you have to pay/buy from them for software :-( :-|

@skrue
..."i THINK its the same thing as the spv of orange.. a lower version of it"... THINK meaning not sure... a guess.

if you believe what you hear you wont see the real beauty of the tanager. No it does not charge on usb it has a cradle and a charger. and its PDA functions is not inferior. it just needs enhancement mainly because its a new technology compare to your PDAs. Yes it hangs only if you try to open lots of apps.
for me its a great phone...lots of apps to choose from, expandable memory, great sound on mp3s not like the mono sound on 3650.

spv is phone that does smart stuff. p800 is pda with a built in phone. as for the no java, it can open/play any type of file so you can play games like duke nookem

just followed @arnoldc's link. Everything about the phone is there. Cool phone, cool features, they should've incorporated bluetooth and this would be a hell of a phone. Will stick with SE though.

Microsoft Powered Smartphone in a nutshell
Actually, MS smartphone's ability is within the compentence of the user. MS Smartphone is very much like a PC, if the user is incompentent with his box for sure it will be slow, nerve wrecking and unreliable. But in the right hands its the most efficient machine ever and could easily "out smart" anything in the market to date. If you hear a PC user complaining that his PC is unreliable, slow or unusable chances are that user is a novice with no apprehension for technical things (And you chuckle everytime you hear it coz you know that its USER ERROR and not otherwise) well same goes true for Smartphone users.
Different strokes for different folks
Most Commonly Thought of Problems with SAP
1. High Battery Consumption (its a pda and an upgrade fixes it)
2. To many click to run an app (heard of Speed Dial???)
3. Hangs often (don't fill your IPSM fill your SDC instead)
4. Slow Response (USER ERROR like in slow PC's, just use taskmanager and file explorer to arrange your data properly)
5. USB Charger (off the shelf yes, buy a standalone charger for P150)
6. User-Enemy (well smartphones and pc are not for everyone)
Advantage of SAP over other brands
1. able to send recieve MMS to other branded cellphones
2. able to send recieve IR carriers to other branded cellphones
3. able to use WAP and Internet explorer
4. SDK for developing application is for free (develope what you want and need, you could even sell it without paying any royalty)
5. Synching with the PC is done via IR or USB (not the slow serial cable which you need to buy as an addon)
6. and very much more

We'll see how long the symbian operating systems are going to last. Smartphones running the windows mobile operating systems will only get better as time goes by. Plus many brands are already using it. Samsung, Motorola, HTC, etc.
