Had the same problem. Bought my phone which was sold as a t68i in greenhills checked the back sticker and saw it was made in malaysia and was indicated as t68i but when i had it upgraded at smartnet and requested for a tagalog language pack in addition to a fw upgrade i was told that it was an ie and as such they couldn't do the tagalog upgrade. In my case i have no choice since mine is a gray market unit. You, however have a strong case since you're presumably under warranty and was a victim of misrepresentation.

@doktabako: yup, it's under warranty. anyway, i sold the unit na lang at a very low price. i wanted to put up a fight with this very respected company for mis leading their costumers but what the heck!!!! ayaw ko ng sumakit ulo ko, thanks!

@jowi: thanks!

@SEMICON: NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Bokayo, where did u plan to buy a new one? Alam m b sa GH ngaun nakalagay na sa box kung ie.

Posted by bokayo
@erwin: yup yup yup, sa greenhills daming RECONDITIONED T68ie, obvious yung sticker sa main frame and made in china P8,500 nga lang eh, sa QUICK CHARGE,they have T68i, no chinese characters sa keypad, no chinese language menu, if you select small fonts lahat ng menu and sub menus ay small. and yung package nya is all original, yun lang walang warranty, di tulad sa semicon may warranty ang t68ie oops T68i daw pala yun pero hongkong version.

If its i then itr posible to upgrade and Sem***n should be able to since they upgraf specially if yvdou bought your unit from them;-)

Bokayo, pre nagkarun na ko nyan ung t68i no chn charcter, font consistent as in orig na i. Kaso as my xpernce mas gus2 k ung ie k ngayun kc no bugs. Share of xpernce lang.

your right pre, you have to check everything, the box, sticker, specially the joystick and call counter, mine is 44 counts and 0 call time when i bought dis fone, SE phil confirmed that no one can reset the joyster nor the call time counter, you will know naman kung recondition or not... kutuban mo na lang, by the way it should be made in malaysia, wag ka bibile ng china hehehe

@erwin: i have no plans of buying sa greenhills, although a LOT cheaper but lang warranty eh. and i don't have any plans of buying a T68i sa SEMICON, ie ang binebenta nila!!!!!!!!
sa MEMOEXPRESS na lang baka di ie unit nila!!!

@bokayo
you should have insisted the company to replace the phone. they are liable for misrepresentation, if proven that they knowingly sold you a unit that was not meant for the local market.

of course, sometimes (as my favorite wiseass, murphy, says) things can go wrong (and they will), and it could also be an honest mistake.

anyway, the company should really take a look at this issue you raised. and maybe, should also be brought to the attention of the local SE office.

wanna PM me the details?

@GOWIN: i thougtht about that, SEMICON'S technician at the PODIUM was willing to back up my claim that the unit i bought was an ie, hongkong version, he flashed my unit and confirmed it. sold the unit na lang. the reason why i put up this topis is so that others will not be fooled!!! btw, thanks for your concern... have a good one.
