just did the MMS configurator thing from the SE website... seems to have given me settings for WAP, Internet, & MMS...
anyway, a few q's:
1) even tho i only opted for MMS, have i got the whole connectivity bundle now?
2) i have just tried entering a webpage, the little GPRS world icon appears for about 3 seconds then disapears... then when i click on "Network" (bottom right of the screen) if says "GPRS Attached (Login Failed)" - whats goin on there then?
3) What costs will be incurred from each of these services? (WAP, Internet & MMS) - i selected "MMS Postpay" at the configurator if that makes a difference.
any help greatly appreciated...

The
sender, although magnificent in its magnificence, can sometimes be out of date with networks. Try getting them to send the settings out to you.
If that doesn't work, your SIM might not be set up for GPRS, another thing to ask your network
What network are you with?

PS. Anyone been to Subway recently and noticed you can taste the food for hours afterwards? :-s Nice like, but I wish it would go away

ive just been speaking to phones4u/singlepoint... and they say i have to wait 24 hours... so maybe thats it.
anyway could anyone answer my other 2 questions?:
1) even tho i only opted for MMS, have i got the whole connectivity bundle now?
3) What costs will be incurred from each of these services? (WAP, Internet & MMS) - i selected "MMS Postpay" at the configurator if that makes a difference.
( i think the SE settings are fine - but ill get em again from O2 if theres a problem )

(1) Yes, you now have the full connectivity bundle as GPRS is needed for MMS.
(2) GPRS is charged at 2p for the first page you look at then 1p a page after that and I *think* it's 2.50 per mb you download after that. (unless you are on a GPRS bundle)
MMS is charged at 35p per message, unless you're on an MMS bundle.

I'm afraid I can't tell you for certain as I'm an o2 prepay advisor so I can't check the systems you're on. However, I'm on contract myself and it's £2.50 for me so I'm confident its the same for you.
What are you doing on phones4u anyway, you insane?
If you want to use GPRS but not pay, get an o2 prepay (NOT ONLINE) sim for £10 - free GPRS until at least June, hopefully.

Mmm...that is a good deal, I must admit.
Either way, I think it's a flat rate of 2.50p MB for GPRS.

Choose Pay And Go Media Messaging, that's got everything.
I've never really liked phones4u ever since they were gits to me about me wanting the 7110. They seem arrogant and uncaring, or at least the people in the Bury branch are.
I'm with staff tariffs myself - it may make some of you feel better to know that I have to queue for 10 minutes if I need any help with my phone!

how would that be billed?
( sorry for all the dumb-ass questions, but im new to all this, i was a nokia 8310 man
Posted by jalu
GPRS is not billed, an mms is 35ppm. (pence per message)
8310, ouch - I feel for you man

lol... what do you mean GPRS aint billed??? how do i pay for it then? and does WAP come out of my minutes?
Posted by jalu
Sorry - I got a bit confused between prepay and postpay.
On your contract phone, GPRS WAP access is billed at 2p for the first page you view then 1p afterwards and will probably be included in your bill (mine is, I'm on a bog standard o2 200 tariff, it's just cheaper per month, same call charges).

yeah.. but since ive used "Pay & Go" - surely i have to pay someone money to use the 35p MMSs and the £2.50/MB GPRS surfing???
so in what form does the MMS and GPRS payment come out of my bank account?
(sorry for the confusion)

Erm.
I would hereby like to blame the errors I've made in this thread to the fact it's good friday and I was up really early at 11am this morning.
You need pay monthly gprs, sorry. The money will be included in your minutes and be charged monthly with your bill.
Jalu - finishes work in 40 minutes, sleep is close!
