Hey fellow SE/Esato enthusiasts,
I think the best way we can get SE to start providing us with the service we all deserve (like the Europe and Asia markets) is for all of us to call the Ericsson 800 support number and complain. I know that may be pushing it, but I think that the N. American market is much stronger than any other market if they only provided the same service. How many people use Sprint PCS's crappy cdma technology? Hundreds of thousands because they can go to any official Sprint PCS store and get thier phones flashed, repaired, etc. while they wait. Now that is service (but sprint really does suck otherwise)! But just think, Cingular is turning GSM, and the same with ATT. It's only a matter of time before they start offering more SE products than Nokia bricks and Sanyo/Samsung "phones". So sooner or later SE has to start implementing better business ideas and openning more service centers here (instead of the 'one' that have in MN).
All the red tape about us getting our frimware flashed, to me, is a load of crap. It's just like compaq saying you can add more memory to your PC or your warranty is void. Compaq will even help you upgrade to a new version of Windows and STILL keep your warranty in check w/o any breech to warranty terms.
Really, SE needs to turn their head our way, and I really think that if we make it a collaborated effort, we can have at least 1 new FULL service center by the end of the year.
Time to call SE, I hope you all will to.
SE == THE best!!

Hmmm i know what u mean.i dont live in the us but u do have a point.the problem is that sprint pcs is established thru out america while the gsm standard is still in his infancy.thats why u have no official se ofice.the business is just too small.in 2yrs when the terittory is at least 40-50% gsm-covered se will b there.

701 is right...we should rally all the people we know to go GSM, EDGE, and WCDMA...oppose CDMA2000!!! there are a big mix of technologies here which makes marketing difficult. I hear that there are some new multimode chipsets available that, if embraced by SE, could increase their marketshare by creating ubiqitous models

Actually, the US market isn't as strong as Europe or Asia. Americans just don't upgrade their phones as often...it's not practical. SMS is still relatively new to the GENERAL public. The Americans on Esato are the exception. Most Americans would just rather have a plain simple mobile phone... they don't care whether it's on GSM, AMPS, D-AMPS, ETACS, PCS... as long as it's cheap, and it works.
Another reason GSM (or PCS as it's called in the US) isn't strong is because Qualcomm and Motorola are still pushing CDMA. It's all corporate politics. Motorola products and technology will always be given preference... by the buyers, the telcos, and most especially...the paranoid US gov't... that's the reason why GSM wasn't adopted... the gov't didn't have a back-door into it at the time...unlike the more secure CDMA. (Secure for whom? the end users? or the gov't who wants to listen in to everyone's conversations???)... at this very moment... there's some over-paid military intelligence dork who's reading this message... it's probably red-flagged already!

Sony Ericsson should bundle SE phones with the Sony PS2's. Half of the PS2's sold in the world are in North America.. If only they had the same sucess here with cellphones.... but maybe the new cdma's coming out will help.... I honestly think they should continue to flood the market with low end phones, the t100 would be great for North American's... North Americans just don't wanna spend $500-600 on a phone.

Your average phone user don't want to pay for a phone at all.

@ sybercouch88 Most people here get them for free or less! I now see adds from local dealers for a free phone and $100 cash back with one year contract! That would be for a T300 with camera or a T68i without. There are many other phones to choose from. I think one offered a low end phone, a Motoraola C332, for $150 cash back. Only in America will they give you a free phone -- and pay you besides -- to use their network! Now if only they offerred free GPRS internet service....
