Problem with Globe GPRS (PH)

No way around it. www APN can only be used for wap browsing using phone and pda. Let's just say that it was good while it lasted but unlike before when there were loopholes and other gateways, sadly email and web browsing for phone, pc and pda can only be accomplished using the internet APN which as said is charged .50 c per total kilobytes used, meaning sent and received.:-(

globe gprs yesterday (fri) was not good

Posted by neilgoth
Pucha! Kung kailan pa ako kumuha ng plan para kay misis ito naman ang pasasalamat ng globe! Aaaargh! :-(

Posted by ferrarista44
go dig up really, really old prepaid SIMs. coz when Globe gets into some really nasty problems, those SIMs always do get through. just my experience though.

Posted by ynohtna
Well it was good using our t68i's email client thru globe's www APN while it lastd until recently. If we use internet APN,then we will be charged. For a prepaid user, sometimes it makes our t68i useless(w/o email client). You have a high tech phone pero ndi mo naman magamit all its features cos blocked or may bayad w/c ndi naman kaya ng bulsa natin all the time. What more ung mga nagbayad ng 3-5k sa bills w/o knowing ung difference btwn the 2 APNs.

happy days are indeed over . . . as far as Globe's GPRS is concerned . . . you now have to subscribe to their G-Surf plan . . . on the other hand, Sun has begun to shine . . .

Posted by senninha
don't expect your pop mail to work again on www APN. the days of free access are over. works fine for me on internet APN, but of course its P0.50/kb.

i think after 7 years with globe, the time has finally come to dump it. smart might not be any better but at least with that addict service, data usage (sms, mms, vas, gprs) is consumable in your monthly payment so you only pay once you exceed your allotment. and gprs is P0.25/kb!

pay an extra P500 a month for g-surf then excess at P0.50/kb? plus pay for all mms and vas usage? plus no signal when i go to the beach?! you gotta be kidding! especially with such an unreliable gprs service. sheesh....

Posted by Jazzbo
i remember reading on myglobe that g-surf is 0.25 per kb ... did they raise prices again?

Posted by senninha
still is P0.50/kb. if you are a corporate managed account, then it is P0.15/kb. G-surf at P500 a month gives you 2MB free, then P0.50/kb thereafter. and no free mms.

Posted by maxel
Masyadong mahina ang conection sa globe ngayon. I cant conect thru gprs kanina:-(

Posted by ynohtna
The free surfing thru www APM has really come with a terrible price:server unstability, blockd email ports and IP gateways.Just with connectivity and speed alone, globe doesnt match smart's gprs system even though it charges .25c/kb download.Smart's addict plan is better than globe's g@surf.Btw,i waited 2 hours befor i wrote these c/o globe. In between that were the ff:try again, try again, endless connecting, pls try again, network problem.

Posted by Jazzbo
i acgree abt smart gprs, but its still too expensive for wap or web surfing. it should be ok for instant messaging tho. for email i calculated dialing up an isp as a data call is more cost effective than gprs.

Posted by Jazzbo
@senninha,

boy am I confused! 50 cents or 25? This is what it says on their website:

http://www.myglobe.com.ph/portal/featdetails.asp?title=whatshot&contentid=671

"And because you love browsing, we have the G Surf package for you. Pay only P500 a month when you make your first 2000 kilobyte download. "

"That means paying only P0.25 per kilobyte - a real bargain for mobile Internet! Enjoy it until September 30, 2003."

Posted by senninha
@jazzbo

i think you're right, in that it works out to 0.25/kb when you consider that you pay P500 upfront for 2MB of gprs usage. but i believe that once you exceed the 2MB limit, it reverts to 0.50/kb.

Posted by paulvince
i think we should have a network specific thread to address our concerns (just like the smartnet thread) and have one of their representatives comment on our suggestions.

"The grass is always greener on the other side"... be careful! Smart has a nice way of misleading subscribers! More than Globe... just remember that Smart is PLDT is TnT is Piltel... these are THE MOST dishonest companies in the Philippines.

Correction on Globe's rates... it still is P0.25/kb if you're on the G-Surf plan... and P0.50/kb if you're on any other plan.

I suggest you try them out first...you might end up in a worse situation.

so far concerning wap browsing,ok pa naman www APN pag esato, pero pag yahoo wap hirap na. TIPIC ayaw na rin kahit internet APN.

Posted by fpf888
When will globe start charging?

Posted by jrm
Wot u mean by APN? Tnx

Posted by shishio
Yup, when signing in at yahoo- ERROR

Posted by Jazzbo
Haven't been able to get on WAP over GPRS for three days now. Globe is really screwed.

Posted by jplacson
Jazzbo, are you on prepaid? Or postpaid?

I think Globe should come up with a prepaid Data SIM.

Posted by totings
Globe is blocking all other gateways para yung globe lng ang gamitn natn lhat, tpos syempre dhil madami ang gumagamit sumisikip ang butas.pag hardcore na ung service at sobrang shitty na like now globe wil say 'because of blah blah we wil start charging to give u better service, thank u for ur continue patronage' nd shit like that w/c we all know is bullshit because they were the ones who blocked the other gateways dba. Oportunty nga naman to make more money. Badtrip! :-(

Posted by adrktemplar
OK. So this explains bakit nde na ako maka-retrieve ng emails ko via POP3. Balak ko pa naman mag-try sending pics (taken with a MCA-25) via email. Hindi ko na pala mata-try.

Regarding the P500 for 2MB download! =O I think it's very expensive.

Had the same experience for a month. I got it back 2 days ago...

Peeps, ok na Globe GPRS for the past week. Hope it could hold on long enough for me to forget on switching to Sun Cellular:-D

Posted by abe214
Just a quick question: nawawala ba ang GPRS signal kapag wala ka nang load? I'm using prepaid kasi and I've got no GPRS signal since yesterday. Zero na kasi balance ko. Just curious... hmmmm.

Posted by gearbox
@abe
my other prepaid card nag-zero yesterday, nawala rin gprs signal...

Posted by shishio
Yup, medyo improving ang gprs lately- sana pop3 na din

Posted by mjct6210
for me ok pa rin globe ksi free pa gprs nila. sa sun ata hindi na free e mag switch pa naman ako dapat.

Posted by KasuyaZelkin
pgwla na lod - wla na rin GPRS... cgurado ako... Happend 2 me 4 times... Pero kaht piso ang lod may GPRS pa rin... >?<

Posted by Jazzbo
Finally got in after 2 weeks! problem was globe's auto config mms settings turned out they screwed my wap settings...

Posted by fpf888
Ang hirap pumasok sa ibang site! Sa globe lang ang pwede. Bakit ganun?

Posted by Savant
To all those still having problems with Globe's GPRS -- we've been having discussions about them also lately over at P800_phils at YahooGroups. Its a YahooGroup for us P800 owners here in the Philippines!

You might want to join the group and read the transcripts of the messages there...

Basically, you might want to compare your settings (especially the APNs and the proxy server adresses) with actual settings that work. Work your way from there (change settings that are diff. in yours, etc.). Managed to solve mine be deleting all Internet, WAP accounts first and using Globe's OTA settings again.

Good luck!

is globe GPRS really dead for PREPAID users??!!! even thru WAP, they block lots sites, i notice this cause with SMART sim (prepaid) its fast and flowless "Amazing"!!! But i love my GLOBE so much, simple lang ang dating, Kya please, GLOBE do some actions for its to late.........

Posted by ferrarista44
GPRS is not dead for prepaid. i could still browse wapsites. however, browsing using the internet APN for prepaid users has been blocked (or however you call it).

I think that's sad. So is it final that the 'free' GPRS is now limited to a few sites approved by globe? I switched to Globe because of the 'free' GPRS. But since they blocked most of the sites I frequently visit, I think I'll go back to Smart. Globe could get some more *ka-ching* *ka-ching* if they open the internet APN to prepaid users (assuming they have a good service

On a side note, I was really suprised by the speed of Smart's GPRS service. Granted I haven't tried Globe's paid internet gateway (but if I have to be a subscriber and be stuck for a year or so just to test their paid internet gateway, it's not good enough a reason for me to sign up =)

i'm from the kamanava area and i have no gprs service since last night. called globe customer service and all you they can say is they are sorry but as for the reason they gave none. and to add that the lady said that all globe subscribers cannot access wap/gprs right now. to my surpirse i received an sms notification from 0123456789 that i received an mms from my friend which means that my friend has wap/gprs on his area. anu ba nangyayari sa globe? are they giving us more reasons to switch to other networks?

Posted by ADMINISTRATOR_user
cannot access esato again . . . sh*t! blocked na naman ba??? lecheng globe to!

Posted by bitmap
globe WAp, working properly as of the moment!!!!!
internet.globe... we will WAIT 4 u

Posted by tristan_john
talaga bang blocked na yung esato sa WAP ng globe?

Posted by aspanu
there has to be another way to get into esato through globe. does anybody know of any alternative gateways that we can use that is compatible with the globe system? or should we come up with an email blast directed at globe to open esato to its subscribers? they are monopolizing and constricting user rights. that is not only unfair, it is illegal. anybody agree with me on this? anyway, for those who have answers to getting access into esato, please post them:) it would be a shame to not be able to access esato for good.

bitmap: what IP address are you using for your gateway?:)
