i think u can still access at this wapsite http://wappy.to/wappydot
Posted by senninha
@aspanu
are you using the wap apn or the internet apn? if you find that you can't access it via the wap apn, try it on internet and you will almost always find that it works.
i don't think that globe is blocking subscribers from accessing esato or any other site, just that you can't access it for free. big difference!
Posted by sidewinder
First globe blocked pop3 unless you changed apn now we cant access yahoo, esato etc...BEWARE globe gprs is expensive..globe charges per kilobyte but when you download a page and got cutoff in the middle of a download globe still charge you on kilobyte used even if its a failed download..UNFAIR..in other countrif like UK they charge per page download...:-(..grrrr

Thats right. I have been encountering the same problem since the other day. And I just say I am very dissatisfied with the service Globe is providing regarding GPRS lately. I am now checking Zed and Sun Cellular if they are better with providing GPRS services.
Posted by mjct6210
i think this is the downside on the free gprs of globe we cannot even complain why they are blocking wap sites coz their gprs is free. but come to think of it, a lot of news and info sites are not blocked and as the saying goes, the best things in life are free....
Posted by vwbeetle
@n-mizeri - what can you still acess using wappydot? esato? how?
@senninha - even if you use internet apn, and are willing to pay .25 c per kb, you still cant access esato using your phone wap browser. so its not really about paying for access, its something else...
Posted by senninha
hmmm maybe globe decided to block sites where content may be downloaded (ringtones, wallpapers, etc.) to prevent the downloading of pirated/illegal content. i wonder...

Help! i cant access Esato using Wap over Gprs. I'm using a T68i and i'm a Globe prepaid subscriber.
Posted by JWBlue
so that makes your wap phone useless right?! its like having cable tv with only 1 channel; subscribing to an isp but does not allow you to access cnn.com, etc...
Posted by kuku_blade
It sucks!
Posted by jplacson
Well, I can access myGlobe, Sureseats, ClicktheCity, FedEx tracking, BPI, Inq7, Google, Yahoo (Mail & Messenger), Destiny Webmail, a few other personal WAP sites (including my own), and occasionally Esato...all on Globe's free WAP APN.
If you guys would rather pay Smart Addict to access these free sites, be my guest! I'm sure Smart wouldn't mind.
Posted by just_cruizen
all of us are having the same problem in accessing wap sites via globe's gprs. with nokia, they change the apn to mms.globe.com.ph instead of the usual www.globe.com.ph para gumana. we just dont know kung may bayad yon pero nakaka connect yung dating apn sa wap site ng globe at sony ericsson. some say that globe block those sites to prevent other people from taking advantage of the contents of those sites. anyway, the old apn works well when i'm checking my mail thru a handheld device. sana maayos agad ng globe ito.

i have BOTH a globe and an addict line up to now. i never terminated my 7 yr globe subscription. there is NO cost penalty with addict, but much better network performance in my case.
furthermore, my bills are LOWER with INCREASED data usage, and most importantly, i don't have to deal with some telco management deciding what sites i can or cannot access.

So I guess it's true that Globe blocked wap.esato.com ... I can access wap.yahoo.com but not the Yahoo instant messenger. I thought I was only imagining things!
Is there a list complied of the wap sites that are blocked? (like tagtag.com, etc)
On one hand you can't complain because it's free - on the other as we can all see the negative result is pissed off users who will start to complain about the company. So I would think its a bad PR move on the part of the Globe especially since they never officially confirm or deny that they block any service.
In the meantime, access to wap.my-symbian.com is real fast now! try downloading the apps through WAP and you'll be surprised.

Smart's GPRS access rate is P 0.25 per kilobyte. Globe followed last May 1, 2003.

I have 3 Data accounts in my phone now. 1st is myGlobe (this is the standard wap data account where the apn is www.globe.com.ph) 2nd is MyGlobe i believe this is the mms data account) and the 3rd is myGlobeMail (something that I made myself where the apn here is internet.globe.com.ph i use this config in my pop3 email settings) Apparently i cant browse wap site in internet apn where in www apn i can

i just got my p800 a week ago. i texted go p800 to 2951 and got the settings but i can't still connect to the internet via html or wap. help me please!!!
Posted by baste07
maybe your gprs/mms account itself is not active yet
Posted by paulvince
i just transferred my sim from t310 to p800.
i used my Sim to browse wap pages and mms.

globe sucks bigtime!
Posted by paulvince
why does globe block all the good web/wap services which is free over the net????
what the hell is gprs for? what the hell is p800 for???!!!!
Posted by rheiary
so the wap account for globe is free? and the one for internet.globe.com.ph is .25 per kb? am i right? by the way, is it charged by kb sent or kb received?
Posted by dlreyes
To clarify things... there are 2 apns which globe is using:
1. www.globe.com.ph, wap access is free but some wap sites are blocked (like esato) and all ports except wap are blocked (meaning you can't access html, messenger etc)
2. internet.globe.com.ph, all ports are open, access to everything (don't know about porn sites) but you have to pay 25 centavos/kb.
Posted by soulthird
I have a t610
how can I add a new APn for internet.globe.com.ph? The one with the 25 cents per KB charge?
Posted by Rotavap
@dl, you can access html using p8's internal browser and the free globe apn
@rheiary, both data sent and received are charged 25c/kb

Hey!!! You know I can't receive Globe's GPRS signal since yesterday? I wonder if you guys also experience the same thing?
Posted by crowing
@rizen
you can make your own wall paper at sonyericsson.com/fun then you can download it from your phone via GPRS with globe, still for free, that's what i do...
Posted by =Dj_Free=
hmm... how about smart adict mobile?? is it good? how much does it charge for gprs?
Posted by paulvince
i use www.globe.com.ph
still i can view html pages as far as i could tell
i went to cnn.com and i downloaded approx 100 kb for that page pa lang. i think its html and not wap.
will i be charged .25 per kilobyte?
Posted by tom_riddle
wala na yata talagang pag-asa.
Posted by clark27
alam kaya ng globe na intermittent no gprs signal ang mga subsriber nila at different area na dati dati naman ok ang signal??? tsk tsk nakakaaliw tlaga limited na nga ang wap sites wala pang signal mas ok pa ata balik 5110 na lng
Posted by paulvince
aren't there anyone from Globe monitoring threads regarding their service? unlike in the smartnet thread?
so that they could address our concerns or just know that we have one....
Posted by senninha
fyi, smartnet is an authorized SE and motorola service center not connected in any way with smart communications. there is a guy from smart tho who does read and reply to some of the threads. read the addict thread and you will spot him.
for globe, no idea...
Posted by JWBlue
globe should already upgrade or expand their gprs system to be able to give efficient service to its subscribers... i think in the meantime they are prioritizing their corporate subs
Posted by rizen
@crowing
thnx...for the reply..
Posted by xerx
kahit naman gamitin mo yung internet apn mabagal pa din ang globe gprs e nak ng tinapay oo! nagbabayad ka na nga palpak pa din!
Posted by mudge
hello everyone!
If there is no hope that POP3 will be accessible again, then... if time permits, I would love to develop an instant messenger for gprs-enabled phone for everyone to use.
Anyone interested?
