hey yall i was wondering, if you change the SIM card in your mobile will your service provider be able to tell what phone you are using? curious as i just had my sim locked p800 unlocked and wanna change the Sim card.

cheers!

only orange will know acording to users on this forum,
if u have insurance with orange and are going to use that insurance yet use a differnt simcard and orange find your useing a differnt sim they may not cover u...

but since u have allready had it unlocket it would make the insurance with orange void...

but! if your not with orange then it dont matter

so only orange can check huh? thats a relief as im with voda. anyways, how would they find out?...through the imei number im sure. cause i was planning on using my sim with voda on my nokia instead. i guess they'd be able to see the different phones being used with their sim...and then also see what other network is being used with the phone. am i correct and does apply overseas in different countries as well?

I doubt orange are THAT clever mate! :-)

well only orange can see because there phones and sim have a codec when placed together (which they never check) and when a differnt sim is used in one of oranges own branded phones they can see its not the sim which came with the phone and if there sim is placed in a differnt phone they will know there sim is in a differnt phone but they wont know what phone like a nokia siemens or SE etc they will just know its not in one of theres

voda t-mob O2 virgin cant do the same but even then orange do not check that there phones and sims are being used together unless u make a clam on insurance or u want to change networks yet want the same number

since your on voda it should not be a promlem what phone are u useing now and which phone do u want to use your sim in?

Every operator can find out what phone you are using. That's why the imei is meant for. Even different operators from the same coverage area know the phones that are in use.

@ boyi im afraid it is true this subject has been done 100's of times and last we talket about it alot of people who work in orange shops said about this

i myself work in a cpw and in there i was not alerted to this... but we realy only sell the networks phones and fix them we dont realy know much about what the service's do to make sure they are still getting money from the buyer after you buy the phone

@vilkur

using the phone abroad with a a foreign SIM card, would that be the same as different operators from the same coverage? for example, would orange be able to tell what network provider you were using, if the phone was being used in another country with a completely different service provider?
