Firmware Upgrade in Hong Kong?!?!?!

This is virtually impossible.
I have had my P800 since Jan, and since Feb it has been frequently dying (twice a week) and required a hard reboot(10sec reboot) every time.

I asked HK SE to upgrade my firmware for me, but then they said as you have a "non-official" phone we have to charge you $150 service plus $200 for an upgrade. Then when I said I believe it has faulty software, they told me it would be better to give them as "non-operational" and have them check for me rather than for an upgrade.

Fine. Then the next day they called up and said my phone is REALLY "NON-OPERATIONAL" and need a motherboard replacement of $3500. I told them it was working fine except the hanging, why don't you just TRY and upgrade it. They then said "No, this phone is not working so we cannot upgrade"

WTF??? HK SE SUCKS... I have spoken to 5 SE people and they have all suggested different things. How come I ended up with a dead phone when only the software is faulty??!?!?!?!?! Did SE MESS UP MY PHONE???!?!?!?!?!? MY PHONE WAS WORKING BEFORE IT WENT TO SE!!!

I still love SE products but I seriously doubt SE HK has the capacity to support these phones...

Now my phone is still with SE and I seriously hope they will get someone competent enough to fix it. I definitely believe if a company sold faulty phones, they have the responsibility to fix it (At least upgrade its software, which costs $0).

The fact that you bought a "non-official" P800, HK SE has every right to charge for repair/service or even refusal to service your P800. The same hold true for parallel import cars, the dealer e.g. Mitsubishi refused to let these cars inside their service centre. In your case, you have a P800 about two months before everyone does, you have to take the risk of buying a "non-official" phone. Being such a high-tech piece of gadget, buying an official phone is a must for anyone reading this forum.
