Im thinking of buying either HBH-15 or HBH-20, to use with my T68, but I cant decide which one to go for.
Whats good and whats bad about those 2.

Perhaps there are some new model presented today on pressconf.?
Who knows, but which one of these do you recommend?

I have tried both of them and I like HBH 20 the most. I think that the HBH 15 is to heavy and looks a bit stupid
I would bye the HBH 20 J

I would probably wait a while for the HBH-30, looks good. And if the sound-quality is as good as HBH-15 or 20, or even better,.. this would be the right one to get

I´ve never tried a Bluetooth HF, how is the sound quality? Is it 100% like the sound in the phone?
That new HBH-30 is really looking good and tiny. Think I saw something about weight 26g.
Does anyone know when it will be released and price?
Should cost as HBH-15 or -20. (Almost $220 here in Sweden)

I am interested in this subject too.
Furthermore it seems that the HBH-30 looks a lot like the one Nokia is producing, or doesn't it :?

Posted by jh67
No, the HBH-30 and Nokia's headset doesnt look like eact other at all.
HBH-30 looks like HBH-10 and 15, just a more "flat" streamlined design.
Nokia and Ericsson are very different in the way they're build, and their looks too

The Nokia has the "earpiece" going around the back of the ear, and microphone comes out under the ear. Speaker is placed on a small "stick" (bracket).
The battery is placed behind the ear.
You dont have anything in front of the ear, except speaker.

So these two headsets are worlds apart.
The only similarity is the fact that they are both bluetooth

Sound quality of the bluetooth headsets are quite good. Speakerquality/sound is very good, like hearing in the phone.
Microphone-quality/sound isnt as good as the speaker-part, but still good

They keep getting better and better,..and I do believe that the HBH-30 is better than the other Ericssons.

Oops, I'm sorry that I mistakenly compared the HBH-30 to the Nokia

But On-topic;
Which one (and why) should I choose: the HBH-15 or the HBH-20 if compared technically ?
Thanx

Posted by mrNoodles
Wait for the HBH-30!
That will probably beat them both

Posted by sooty
Thank you mrNoodles for your reply

I just can't wait any longer !!! I must admit that I don't have a T68 right now.

But: I've just ordered via the web:
1 T68 Lunar Gray
1 ICT-13
1 HBH-15

These will be delivered to me within 3-4 days.

I chose the HBH-15 because it has NO cable at all (!), instead of the HBH-20 which still has a cable connected to the transceiver-part

Next week I hope to tell you more

Greetz,
Chris

Exacty my thougt, why buy a Bluetooth headset with wires, one of the objects with Bluetooth is to get rid of those annoying wires. Just goes against all logic to me...

Posted by Epedemic
yeah... the hbh-20 is strange... i dont get the point in it... im hopefully picking up a cheap used hbh-15 in a few days... otherwise i'd wait for the bluespoon... thats by far the coolest headset i've ever seen... the hbh-30 is not too bad either... or perhaps the plantronics...

Posted by decoy7
the reason the HBH-20 exists is becuase some people want a wireless headset not a brick hanging from their ear.

Posted by mrNoodles
Why is damn wire so short?
You cant have it in your pocket can you?
And Decoy7, you cant really say that is wireless if its got a wire can you? And I can imagine several things to do when the wire will hook on to something!

duh!?! if the wire could reach your trouser pocket then you'd plug it into your phone.

have you ever used a headset?

the base is designed to clip on to your lapel or jacket...if you don't want to call it 'wireless' then call it 'bluetooth'.

i used the HBH-15 for about 1/2 a day, if your comfortable with it, fine...when you've got your suit on and this piece of plastic on your ear you look like an idiot.

if your a kid in college or school then it may look 'cool', but i'm not so i won't be wearing that one.

Duh! to your self
If its got a wire i rather go for HBP-10 or some with wire. What I meant was that I dont thinks it´s worth buying it if you hav to have a thing hanging round you neck or put some part on your collar and so.
I mean all people dont wears shirt, right???

Yepp Im a kid, a kid that works for the company which produces the phone etc. you are speeking in

Come on now you gotta admit that having that reciever thing hanging looks as "stupid" as HBH-10/15 , and surely HBH-30 even though its smaller!

it's a lifestyle option that's why there's more than one design, 1 for you and one for me.

i'm not knocking the 10 or 15, simply saying that in my lifestyle they don't fit in...i i soend nore time in shirts or suit jackets than t-shirts.

the 20 on the other hand does fit...this is what you'd call the executive model.

Posted by mrNoodles
Oki fine
But you think Im a kid?
Actually I hope that i never grows up "looks boring to be a "grown up" )

Kidding! Relax

But I certainly understand your point. Hopefully Ill get a new job where I can use shirts and maybe a tie, now when Im getting fired from ERA, and dont have wear that ESD protective coat anymore

PS: You gotta admit that the new HBH-30 is smaller and more discret DS

I wouldn't know if a HBH-15 looks stupid; I would primarely use it in a car.
I used to have a Nokia 8210 with a (wired) headset. This works absolutely fine when receiving calls. The problem starts when placing calls; you have to 'find' your phone from your belt or pocket and it always gets entangled to your safety-belt Then if you have to refill the gas you end up with a spaghetti; not knowing where your headset and phone have gone
I will use my HBH-15 when I receive it next week.

Greetz,
Chris

I'd heavily support Sooty. I use a HBH-15 myself, mainly while driving, and I don't give a dime on how I look inside my car. I've used the wired earpiece HPB-10 before that, but this gadget *always* got mixed up with the safety belt. So HBH-15 ist *the* perfect solution for me: excellent standby time, speech quality and bearing comfort (it weighs 32g – not that much heavier than 26g).

It's quite possible that if I'd want to bear my headset outside the car during work (or walking around) that my preferences would incline more to HBH-20 – but this simply is not the case.

Why go for SE on bluetooth? A lot of companies are ready to lauch all kinds of weird and wonderful bluetooth gadgets in the near future, be patient and save money as the competition gets stonger!

Xeleven:

| Why go for SE on bluetooth?

1) Because you don't need a seperate charger nor a separate car charger;

2) Because the original poster had asked our opinions on a choice among devices *actually available*.

Posted by Xeleven
Come on! Actually aviliable? It's hard enough to get the phone, let alone the accesories...

Posted by pronay
@ Xeleven:

I don't know where you are based (may be you'd like to inform us: click onto "Edit Profile" in the upper right corner of the page and fill the "From" case), but I bought my HBH-15 five months ago, in October.

How is the HBH-15 in Vienna?
Did you bought it in a store or on web?

Posted by Xeleven
>> pronay
Living in Oslo Norway ( have updated profile now, thanks for reminding me )It's hard to get a hold of just about anything SE here, like the T68, BT headsets etc. but the main issue is what they charge for their products. Hopefully, as we see more products coming out on the market the law of supply and demand will make prices drop

Posted by mrNoodles
That is one really sad thing about and their products, that its nearly impossible to find, and when you does it - the prices

Posted by all8
We have no problem buying SE products in Malaysia. I brought my HBH-10 since September and use it mainly while driving. Since then, I have change from T28, T29, T39 and Now T68. I will probably change Ericsson Phone next rather then changing HBH-10.

@ mrNoodles:

I presume you mean "how much"? (If you mean "how good": Fine, thank you.) At the time it was ATS 2990.00, which translates to EUR 217.30 — not cheap, I know, but I desperately wanted to have it. I even tried to get hold of a HBH-10, but in vein; apparently the earset itself was never shipped to Austria, only the whole set in a tin box including BT adapter (for T28/29) and charger.

| Did you bought it in a store or on web?

I bought it in ///'s main service point in 1150 Vienna where they also sell /// products and accessories. Back in September I also bought my DRS-11 data cable from them.

People will get used to bluetooth headsets, just as they got used to the old hf sets. Anyone else that remember other people saying stuff about the people using hf sets when not in the car. U dont hear those discussions anymore...

Posted by jh67
People will get used to seeing and wearing a bluetooth headset.

We all have different opinions on, what it should look like.

A lot of different styles/brands will be out in the spring/summer.
Jabra/GNNetcom are releasing 3.
Nokia are releasing 1.
Nexlink (Bluespoon) are releasing 1.
Pilcon (DK)are releasing 1.
Motorola are releasing 1.
Plantronics (M1500) are releasing 1.
Philips are releasing 1.
And probably a few more, e.g. Siemens.

So everyone should be able to get one, that actually suits them

this one's (hbh-15) looks dosent suit anyone i think but its a cool toy... and dont worry jan... ill ditch it as soon as the bluespoon appears

YES !!!
The postman this morning delivered my stuff
First impressions:
T68 - Absolutely great
ICT13 - Clever system !
HBH15 - ...looks/feels cheapish/crappy It was packed WITHOUT charger and the manual recommends another charger than the one that is supplied with the t68, though that one seems to work...
I will test the HBH15 some more and will be supplying more info next week.

eu note siemens hasent joint the bluetooth member groupe so they dont have bluetooth.

Having used the HBH-15 for two weeks now I can say that I am pleased with its endurance (battery capacity) and its reception when used in a car.
On the downside however I still am NOT able to use the voice-dialing and I am flabbergasted at why it will not work....
Any comments/recommendations will be greatly appreciated

Posted by escobar
The bluetooth-mode must be "on" in the phones menu, or else the voice-dialing won't work. In "automatic"-mode, the headset only works when recieving a call or making by using the buttons on the phone. Hope this helps!

Posted by sooty
Thank you Escobar.
I know.
I've tried all recommendations I could find, so far.
The strange thing is that I have once (1 time only) succeeded making a call from my home... After that it never worked anymore... though incoming calls work absolutely fine with the HBH-15...

Posted by escobar
Have you recorded the voice-tags using the headset? Does the HBH-15 find the phone when you push the button on it, and the bluetooth-mode is set to "on"? If not, there is something wrong with your phone or headset. Or does youre phone just not recognize what you say when trying to voice-dial?

-Esco-

Posted by sooty
@Escobar

I have tried that... maybe I am doing something wrong. It sounds like it is recording my voice through the phone (very distant sound) and not through the HBH-15...
Is there a correct way to record this through the HBH-15 ?
Please help

Posted by escobar
To record voice-tags via the headset:

First make sure the bluetooth-mode is set to "on" in the phones menu. The just follow the menu with adding voicetags, but when the phone beeps and you must say the voicecommand, press the call button on your headset, and then say the name. The first voicetag will not be recognized correctly, but when the display asks "voice command ok?", just press the joystick or yes-button on your phone and you can start over again, but from now on you can record all the voice labels through the headset. The beep that indicates the phone is ready to accept your voice command is played through your headset instead of through the phones speaker.
