Audio player stops when flip is closed

I've had my P800 2 days and it's great however one problem I can't work out how to solve...

When I close the flip when playing an MP3 file, the music stops immediately and there is no way of starting the Audio application from the flip-closed menus.

The manual says "you can still listen to MP3 files when you close the flip."

Is there a 'handsfree' setting that needs to be changed, or any option in the Control Panel to change this?

I'm running Phone: CXC162002 R1D, Bluetooth: CXC12529 R2C, Organiser: CXC162001 R1G05, CDA: CDA162002/12 R2A01

thanks
Helen.

Yeah, just tap on the little note on the bottom left corner, hit play, close the flip, and voila!

Yep, all the blokes in my office are envious of my phone.... plus the management are starting to think "why buy IPAQs when this does it all... and is a phone too?"

It's a well cool toy.. replaces my 2-yr old Ericsson R380. The only bugbear I have with it is, when you choose to view (and delete) headers from the mail server, you don't have choice to either 'move' or 'copy' the emails from the online mailbox, that you had on the R380.. so when I download the emails using my laptop, they disappear off the P800's Inbox too..! Also you can't create folders under the Inbox, etc....

I guess in the long term this will save space on the P800 memory, but it is just useful to be able to keep certain emails on my P800 when I want to refer to them..

Anyway thanks for the welcome, guys.....
Helen.

P.S. I received an email reply from SonyEricsson today:

"...With reference to your e-mail, thank you for your feed back in this matter, as it stands the handset cannot play MP3's with the flip closed although it says it does in the manual. We have escalated this in order for it to be resolved... "

So are they admitting it is a fault, or merely re-stating what I said in my email to them... hmmm !

Helen.

Please can you let me know how much music can i have on my P800? what is the capacity of the mp3 player? thanks a lot for your help.

Uhmm... The p800 CAN play mp3s in flip closed mode....
You can't skip, stop or control it in any way though...
The audio player must be in the right mode..(the little note in the bottom left corner above the service indicator)

Oh.. and about the emails... If you sync your phone with your pc it will create a mail folder in the p800 where emails are stored...

You can store as much music as the memory permits....
there is 12 megs internal memory in the phone.. You get a 16 meg mem card with your phone which you can replace.. In theory you can have as many mem cards as you'd like... They can be as large as 128MB
