Hi has anyone brought this in the UK yet? Just wanted to know how is the reception and will it be fine with the p800. Ive seen expansys have it but is there anywhere in the high street i can purchase one? Thanks

i've tried the hpr-20 with my P800 in one of the local tradeshows. the sound is bassy, and has more power to it as compared to the hpr-11. treble and bass are adjustable as well. the display helps a lot, now you wouldnt have to guess what station you're tuned in.
overall, it's damn nice.
Posted by neilgoth
@ferr, could the hpr-20 display the caller id on it's lcd? Hope it has this feature :-)
Posted by kidscruff
I've ordered the HPR-20 (UK) and I should get it tomorrow morning. Will post a brief review when I've had a play. You can not see the caller ID on the radio, as it's a simple numeric display - not a pixel screen.

I was wondering if the HPR-20 is available in The Netherlands? I really want it but I don't want to buy it online, because I dont have a creditcard.
Posted by dazbradbury
i just want to know wether or not putting it on the bottom of the p800 just makes the phone way too big. I thought the hpr-11 was pretty big, and that was on my t68i. plus if i get it i wont be able to use my crappy p800 case, my beuty might get scratched!! In fact that case i got with it is so badly designs, i'm thinking of cutting some holes in it here and there, should sort it out!

Hi coolkid,
You can buy one in the shop now. Teleworld Amsterdam just phoned me it's available! For adress and information you can look at http://www.tele-world.nl
Good luck, it's a pretty cool thing!

Reception's pretty excellent in London. Out in Kingston-upon-Thames (which is in the shadow of Richmond Hill) it's very patchy but no more so than most portable radios.
A friend of mine who has tried earlier Ericsson handsfree radios and slated them tried mine briefly and admitted it was highly improved sound quality. I'm certainly very happy with it. My friend's one remaining gripe was that you don't get to see the station name on the LCD display, only the frequency - which shows you can't please everyone!

How much is it there ?

No, caller id won't display with hpr-20 with t68i. the reception is not that good in singapore. some radio stations cannot receive. yes the bass can be adjust but not the treble. it cost me $62 in sing

I am very happy with mine. Reception is very good although in the future I think I might mod some nicer earphones onto it.
One question for other owners though - do you get what the carry case is about? It has two pockets with a separating piece in between. I can just about squeeze the hpr-20 into it but I have found another use. It is the PERFECT size for the t68i and provides quite a smart and protective case for it.
What do you guys think?
Regards,
Phil.

Do you know what the string is for inside the case?
Posted by phil.n
I think you are supposed to put it through the little material loop next to the zip so that you can carry it like a girl.
Still think it makes a better t68i case though!
Posted by dandevil
I prefer the holster which I'm using so i can attached whatever accessories I want anytime and also put in the pouch can't hear the ringing, must carry it, cannot hang around. By the way do you know what the seperator in the middle for? I use it to wind the wires of my hpm-10 and hpr-20 when keeping them
Posted by phil.n
This is the thing.......I have no idea why it has been designed in this way. Personally I think that the case is to thin for the hpr-20. I also tried winding the wires around it but that meant that I couldn't get the thing in at all!

you can not change treble on it but you can set the bass on or off.

Brimme, the HPR 20 costs 79 EUR at teleworld. I must say it's pretty expensive if you compare it with the price at expansys.
Posted by boxedfish
yes the flap in the middle of the pouch is for you to coil the cables around it.. it is designed in this way so that the wires will not get tangled up if u stuff everything in carelessly... the pouch size is just nice to house the HPR-20.. nothin more . maybe a few cards and dollar notes.. that's about it.. It is not designed to cater to more stuffs.. if it is bigger, arent it too bulky in the end? miniturisation is the keyword.

Looking for the HPR-20 in Singapore. Any kind soul kind enough to direct me to a shop that sells it. I called a Sony Ericsson Service Center and they told me that it's NOT released yet! I was so surprised!
Posted by boxedfish
this is your lucky day.. i just saw sim lim, song brothers 1st floor. selling HPR-20. I asked and he told me the price is SGD$69... try to bargain with him...
i dun think it is released in shops like M1 or singtel yet.. just those shops that do parellel imports?

Just 3 questions: does the hpr-20's display have a backlight? What color? Is the earphone detachable and replaceable in case it gets damaged or deteriorates in normal use? Thanks Ü
Posted by boxedfish
yes i has a blue backlight... under dark places, u can even see the blue backlight glowing from the side of the HPR-20 beacuse it is translucent. It looks good
no the handsfree is not detachable.. so i guess u have to change the whole unit if it gets damaged.. but products from sony ericsson seemed to be pretty reliable and long lasting.
cheers

@boxedfish, thanks mate :-D umm-rather stup question: how long does the backight stay on from the last keypress? For the part connected to the phone-is it just like the charger? I mean just a connector? Guess that part would only be small unilike the older model which looks bigger than the camera attachment. Havnt seen one yet but our local dealers would probably have them in stock these coming weeks :-D
Posted by lazarini
@ neilgoth
the light stays on for 10 seconds ...
about the connector question i made a picture of it connected to my phone

@boxedfish, Thank you so much, dude! I'm running off to SimLim immediately later! Life's been so "quiet" for me ever since I switched phones from N7210 to the P800! LOL
Posted by boxedfish
@nowd, have fun with HOR-20.. u sure will look way cool with the p800 and HPR-20.
cheers

ARGH! No luck... went all the way to Sim Lim just to be disappointed. Song Brothers DOES have it but guess what they were charging me for it! S$170 (that's around US$100)!!!!!!! Highway robbery!
Went everywhere and even checked out Lucky Plaze. This accessory is pretty rare. Came home empty handed. Will probably buy this online instead. Where people won't charge according to wether or not you can speak Chinese...

I've seen brand new HPR-20 on www.marktplaats.nl under 'Telecommunicatie' and then 'Ericsson' for 64,- incl. delivery costs.

hello danedevil can u answer my queries on the post on top...Thanks
Posted by dandevil
No i don't have distortion problem when on loud but have receiving problem especially on 93.3 and 95.0 there's this weird noises sometimes like some stupid games sound effects from vintage games. I'm using it on my T68i.

i also can't receive 933(at all) ,class 950 can receive like what i said blur blur....and when on over 3 bar(volume) distorted......seems like only me got this problem...think i m going back to change...what volume loudness do u usually set it at......even with stereo signal the volume can't goes beyond 3 bar .....2 bar the sound is good 3 bar start to have "sa sa" sound...it's like the sound is too sharp and too loud for the earphone to take..........

Can someone with HPR-20 try if when you listen to radio and at the same time going through the menu on your phone, whether the radio would reboot itself ??? Cos someone said so.............
Posted by lazarini
@ caff no id dont reboots itself tried on the p800 listening to radio writing sms, fetching mail, and wapping a bit the radio stayede solid all the time
Posted by caff
@lazarini
Thanks !
How about T68i users with HPR-20?? Would the radio reboot when going through menu on your phone ??
Posted by kidscruff
I have the t68i, and the radio has never 'reset' when using the phone.
However, if you play a sound on the phone (eg: Add a sound effect to a text message) then the radio will mute for a second, and play the sound. Then the radio will come back on.
Posted by caff
Thanks kidscruff
Can you tell me what software version is on your T68i ?? Cos my friend has such radio reset problem with his T68i....wondering if its a software version problem !!
Posted by BeeWee
I have the HPR-20, it is no problem when I am using that with my T68i with R6A. I play games, browse wapsites, send sms. No problem.
HW is T68m R1A.
Posted by caff
I know the reason ! Its because he turn on the key sound on his phone ! So when going through menu would make the radio reset ! So every time the phone make a sound would make the radio reset !!! Problem solved !! Thanks guys !!

Hi,I'm from the Phils.I'm wondering if when will the HPR-20 be available here.I'm looking forward to own one. Thanks
Posted by jlpk007
just one night and my set is back service center....it's faulty.....
Posted by nowd
@witch... unfortunately, I've had friends search EVERYWHERE there in the Philippines for the HPR-20. No luck. Which was weird cos it was reviewed in a Feb issue of Sunday Inquirer!
Still no luck with the HPR-20 for me here in Singapore. Will probably have to wait until it becomes common everywhere like the HPR-11 which everyone tries to sell me as the HPR-20. Sigh...
Posted by jlpk007
SIngapore got a few places have liao....
Toa Payoh,Lucky Plaza , novena area .....but i think all export set...
i got mine from Toa Payoh but it's faulty(just my luck)...so have to wait again....

Why don't you guys get the HPR-20 from Expansys--is there a reason?
Also, where is the microphone situated on this radio headset?
Thanks!
