Guys, ok ba ung GPRS ng SUN? or down sila now?
Posted by kenski
I think down pa rin wap apn, only minternet works. yun lang may bayad!some good things dont realy last!
Posted by easybtwo
puede ba minternet sa series40 ng nokia?
Posted by blastus
@easybtwo - Parang hindi, kasi humihingi ang series 40 ng I.P. address, before it can initiate browsing. But according to dlreyes, we have to leave that field blank.
You can put in a known I.P. add but it won't work, and you'll be charged for the kb you send while trying to connect.

Sana buksan ng ang SE gateway ng Sun for the Christmas season. Just hoping.

im planning to switch to SUN just wanna ask anyone if SUN network signal is ok in highland places like tagaygay & cavite area coz in our place in cavite you cant have a smart signal, while globe signal is very weak

anybody has 6230 and got sun's wap to work? i keep on getting "File format unknown" error
Posted by ex_crusader
has anyone made wap/GPRS work??? bad trip naman sun, ok nga 24/7, successful indeed, pero sana naman, GPRS naman ang bigyan nila ng pansin.. wap, internet, MMS (to other networks)... what if, sun launches a new service, GPRS unlimited??? what do you think guys?
btw, i have tried minternet na, pero, wala pa din. played around with the settings, wala pa rin talaga.. sayang naman...
Posted by rickydel
minternet still works for me same settings
Posted by dlreyes
Same here Ricky... using minternet for Agile Messenger 24/7 walang patayan though I notice that Sun sometimes resets its gprs at around 2 in the morning.
Posted by chili
Hello guys, newbie here, 1st post ko kaninang umaga lang from my K700i...
@ex_crusader -- minternet indeed works. Mas mabilis ang access ngayon because the wap apn has been closed down. Dati agawan sa server yung dalawang apn. Ngayon, lahat ng naka-older series 40 Nokia (yung walang http), di na maka-wap, so nagluwag!
As usual, very fair ang charging ng Sun - naglalaro sa Php0.25 to Php0.35.
This may help: You may have all the correct settings but the problem may be with your account. To my irritation, I recently had to buy a new prepaid sim because my old one (bought in August) couldn't access gprs anymore. It happened after a day of heavy browsing with ZERO load. (Yes! Nakalibre ako ng mga Php400 worth in kb, but the next day na-cut na, even though I reloaded the next day
@dlreyes -- 24/7 browsing, sir? You must pay many thousands in monthly bill!

a silly question..
what's minternet? how do you activate it?

For video streaming capable phones....
check out the suncellular wap page at www.suncellular.com.ph.

help nman oh.
i cant seem to connect to GPRS using my palm tungsten and t68i.
in my phone: minternet is the apn
in my palm: the dial up number is *99***1# , i have put the DNS already
i connect my palm to t68 via bluetooth
but still i cant seem to connect to GPRS.
but when i connect to GPRS using my phone only, it does connect. what could be the problem? could it be the bt driver of my phone? --but i can send/receive sms thru my phone via bt --- or could it be the dial up number?
HELP!! ANYONE!!!!!!
Posted by rickydel
I think you can't use minternet on t68i but can be in Pxxx series
Posted by dlreyes
Check the CID# of your Sun APN=minternet if you have several gprs accounts in your T68.
Make sure that this number (x) corresponds to your dial up number where x = *99***x#. This usually is the culprit.

@ nadix
yes you can useyour phone as a modem. kaso, make it clear, gagamitin mo ba ang isp mo na sinasabi mong subscriber ka? or gagamitin mo yung GPRS? kung isp mo, hscsd ang dapat mong i set, otherwise, yung GPRS.
@ dlreyes
thank you very much!!
eto, gamit ko na palm ko ngayon. tnx talaga.
Posted by nadix04
hscsd, is that free or how much wud that cost me. like per kb???
tnx..

Ano tamang settings ng Internet Profiles ng Sun for:
SUN GPRS: Internet Mode? -- Wap or Http?
Sun MMS: Intenet Mode? -- Wap or Http?
Posted by chili
@t68mms:
SUN GPRS: Internet Mode > Http (don't use proxy)
Sun MMS: Internet Mode > Wap (I.P. add = 202.138.159.78)
@ex_crusader, may CSD pala ang Sun? Sabi ng CSR nila wala raw
Posted by chili
My biggest complaint about Sun is that I cannot receive int'l SMS. I've been thru 2 prepaid sim cards, no luck. I can send, but I cannot receive.
Sabi ng CSR nila, supposed to be activated na raw ang IDD ng sim card ko. Also, my contact abroad uses a service provider that is among Sun's partners. Anyone else having the same problem?
Posted by ex_crusader
not sun's csd. since may isp sya, gagamitin nya phone Nya as modem to connect to his isp. and to be able to use your phone to connect to his isp, kelangang csd ang i set nya bearing his isp's settings. (like phone #, i.p. add, etc.)
be advised that the charge is regular air time rate ng sun to landline charge ng isp mo (if not unlimited). ibig sabihin, mas magastos.
Posted by ex_crusader
dati may csd ang sun. pero hindi csd ng sun ang pinapa set ko k nadix.. csd bearing his isp's settings like the dial up # ng isp nya, username & password nya & ip add. kasi nga gusto nyang gamitin phone nya as modem.
@ nadix
be advised that the charge would be the regular air time rate of sun to local call (per minute) charge ng isp mo (since may subscription ka sa isp mo; regular air time rate ng sun na lang iintindihin mo, tha's about 5.50 per minute)
Posted by chili
Thanks for the info, ex_crusader... Anyway, Sun's GPRS is good enough for me.
About my other concern - have you ever been able to receive text from abroad on your Sun sim?
Posted by steele
@chili
I think the same happened to me. After a few days that i've been browsing, my sim couldn't access gprs anymore. Both Agile Messenger and Internet. Nag (activation rejected) kahit na ok yung signal ng gprs and may load yung P900 ko.
I had to buy a new sim. Then i tried browsing, so ok na naman. The other day, mga 2 pesos na lang load ko pero naka pag browse and agilemessenger pa ko. But when i loaded 50 pesos, naging 25.50 na lang agad. So nangyari binawas nila yung hindi nila nasingil sa akin. Which i think is fair. Wag lang nila iblock ok na.
Any of you experience this?
Posted by chili
@steele - The exact same things happened to me. (See my post on page 38 of this thread.) I was able to browse with zero load but the next day, ayaw nang maka-access ng gprs kahit malakas ang gprs signal. So I had to buy a new sim.
Yes, Sun deducts the current session's "overdraft" from the succeeding load, as you described. This is unlike Globe's and Smart's system of automatically cutting off gprs access once the minimum load balance is reached.
But as i was saying, my problem now is unrelated to gprs: I can't receive texts from abroad! This is true for the 2 sims i've had so far.

@chili
My friend who was on tmobile was able to sms me last new year's eve. Have you tried your sim with other phones?

hey guys, i have a SUN SIM Card, and i tried downloading MMS/GPRS settings for my T610 from "the mall"... but nothing worked. i tried turning the phone off, then turning it on again, but still nothing worked. the CSR @ Sun Cellular said to me, in order for me to "activate" my MMS settings, i first have to send an MMS to another person!!! rationally thinking, i think it isn't possible, for how i can send an MMS message if i haven't configured it properly? any ideas? how did you guys get your MMS/GPRS settings configured? thanks a lot...
Posted by steele
send ACTIVATE to 2300 then "The Mall" will guide you through the process. From the activation of your GPRS to the MMS configuration. After which you should send your 1st mms.
Another options is to visit http:\\www.sonyericsson.com.ph. go to "wap configurator". Just ket in all the details like phone model, network, phone number. Then they will send the wap and mms settings to your phone. Just save it then that's it
Hope that helps

Guys,
Starting Jan 7 2005 inclusive na ang unlimited calls and text (250 a month Sun to Sun) in all its plans. So Sun Subscribers will no longer be billed an additional 250 pesos on top of their monthly subscriptions just to avail of the CTU.
Also, Plan 250 will be replaced by Plan 350. P250 will go to unlimited, plus 100 will go to other networks.
This is good news!

steele is right. the sony ericsson web site allowed me to configure my sun settings.

@steele
Glad to hear that your friend on T-Mobile was able to SMS you last new year's eve... So it's not hopeless after all!
I tried both of my sims on two phones, a K700i and a 7250i. No luck. My contacts abroad are on Telstra and Fareastone. I've told them to stop trying because they've already wasted a lot of load.
Posted by steele
@chili
Why don't you try sending them an sms then they should try replying back. Baka kase may kulang sa number. Usually you need to put in the numbers in int'l format.
Posted by T68 MMS
@Steele: Are you from Sun?
Can anyone use his GPRS at the moment? I cant. Using minternet apn
Posted by steele
@T68 MMS
No I'm not from Sun, but i have a good friend that works there. She usually trusts me with almost everything about Sun. I asked for her permission because i posted their plans.
Anyway, as of the moment i couldn't access my gprs. Probably because i'm in makati. What's your location by the way? But when I'm at home in (San Juan), i normally have GPRS.
Try refreshing your phone (turning it off, taking off the sim then back. Turn it on again) See if your gprs appears afterwards.

My current location is Pasay, but wherever I go, my GPRS still doesn't work. I've tried doing that so many times already. I aslo have reported this to Sun, it's 1 week now but still they haven't resolved it.

@T68 mms
What phone are using mate? have you tried OTA configuration from the SE website?
After configuring your handset, call hotline 200 so they can refresh your gprs. You need to turn off, take out your sim and put it again, then turn on your phone after they have refreshed your phone. They're technical people can do that for you.
Posted by superman17
@steele, what if you dont want to upgrade your plan 250 to 350? like here in my place, signal of sun is only in the city proper and if you will avail their ctu, especially calls....you need to dial twice or even more just to contact the other party using sun sim.
do we have a choice not to avail their upgrade to plan 350 for the meantime or it is a must to all plan subscriber to upgrade their plan?
tnx!
Posted by arnoldc
i have sent ACTIVATE to 2300 three days ago and after three calls to customer service and being told to wait for 24 hours, wala pa din akong GPRS

@superman
If you're currently under plan 250, your 250 will be for the CTU(call text unlimited), all texts and calls for other network will be billable already.
That is, as soon as their plans push thru.

@arnoldc
Bro tell them that you already did wait for more 24 hours. Request for manual activation instead. Meaning, you have to tell them to make a manual request to their technical. Wala pang 24 hours, activated na yan. That's what i did before
By the way...
The January 7 launching of the plan 350 is postponed indefinitely.
FYI.
@t68 mms
Sun GPRS here in makati is perfect. how's yours there in pasay mate?

@steele, tnx for the reply but how about my free text allocation? im currently at plan 250(i-text) with 350 free text (any network) and 250 consumable.
Posted by arnoldc
steele, i already requested for manual activation, twice. latest was this morning. i'll see tomorrow what happens.
Posted by steele
@arnoldc
What phone are you tring to activate your gprs on?
@superman17
Your allocated free text and calls to other networks will still apply. So you will only be billed after consuming all your text and call allocation for other networks.
