@ p3rsmag

old or new sim cards have nothing to do with the free GPRS. any sun sim can be used to connect to GPRS free of charge. just install the settings (can be downloaded from nokia.com and sonyericsson.com, also from "the mall" of sun)

@ kenski

.... i've already obtained the CSD settings, someone from their configurations group called me yesterday. the problem is, their dial up number is "temporarily unavailable".... and yet they still gave me it... hhhhaaaayyyyy!!!! sayang naman!!!

Posted by p3rsmag
@ ex-crusader

can you please post the exact url from sony-ericsson? Am using P800

and would it also be free if i use my phone as modem for my laptop using sun's GPRS? if not how much would be the charge?

Posted by blue-isaac

Posted by rickydel
I can't use the free access of Sun since yesterday but I can use the paid apn. Has anybody been able to use the free access lately? Feedbacks will be greatly appreciated.

Posted by jepaz
@rickydel, ok pa naman sa akin.

Posted by kenski
guys, anybody noticed that whenever your balance goes lower the harder you connect? At least in my case thats what happens!

yey buy na tayo lahat para masaya unlimited call and text.

malaking dakok yan sa current cel providers sobra na kasi cla mga mukang pera na ang rates nila.

Posted by kenski
@mjct, that's very true! Even a congressman pointed the fact that we get charged for minutes we did not use is really preposterous! That's why I really hope his bill (per second mandatory charging) be passed into law.. Tpos sobra maningil sa wap charges (as against what they advertise! any comments sir dlreyes?).

Naunahan cla ng sun with this big step of theirs! Sana lang wag ito ningas kugon di ba SUNCELL boss Lance G? More power to SUN!

url of sony ericsson? ---> click me then select phone model, then "read more"...

CSD settings: (i just wanna say again that their dial up number is "temporarily unavailable"). CSD is rendered useless, but since you ask for the settings, here is...

data bearer: GSM data (ofcourse)
dial up number: +63922250
I.P. address: 202.138.159.78 or the other one you're using for wap/GPRS
data call type: ISDN
data call speed: 9600
login type: automatic
usename: wap
password: wap

**username and password are case sensitive (as always)

SUNCELLULAR

SIMPLY AMAZING?

galing unlimited calls, first day ng unlimited calls eh napakabilis maka contact

pero now... ang hirap maka contact laging try again later, but then again kahit mahirap maka call eh walang problem kc nga unlimited naman ang text so wala pa rin problem.. pwede ka mag send ng 10,000 sms in a day... hehehehehe and on time pa kung ma received!!!

anyway one thing is for sure sa suncellular unlimitec calls... pag nag labas ka ng feature of course approved ng NTC yan and may contract yan na 1 year.... kaya lahat tayo mag suncellular na.... para ang GLOBE AND SMART eh baguhin ang kanilang charging scheme

Posted by The GLENSTR
@ ex_crusader salamas po!

bakit kaya wala pa yng SUN sa chikka? well bakit pa kailangan e free na nga yng mga txt... for other networks! hehehe
Hindi naman unlimited yng calls na yng hanggang maubos yng bat mo o kaya magsawa ka sa kausap mo.. a single call is limited to 15 mins.. tapos auto cut.. pero ok lang.. e di magdial na lang uli! sarap mag-telebabad!

Posted by kenski
@ex_cru, tnx for the info.. anybody able to use csd setings yet? (eventhough you get cutoff after 15mins.)

Posted by ex_crusader
i believe that the cut off is 30 minutes.

Another question pa pala for a newbie like me:

what exactlyt is A CSD Setting?

what does it do? my idea is it's for browsing the net and using ur phone as a modem. anybody here care to enlighen me? want to use my phone and SunCellular's promo to its full extent..

Posted by hugh_lee
does anyone have the landline number of suncellular in robinsons cebu? thanks!

Posted by jeckjerick
My sun cellular sim wont work on my Nokia 7650. Im not getting any signal. I tried using the sim on other phones and it worked well. When I try using globe and smart sims, everything is ok. Also when i do a network search, only Globe and smart can be found..

Posted by audioslave
^kung wala sa network search, walang signal sa inyo ibig sabihin.

Posted by jeckjerick
I live at manila. tsaka pag globe or smart naman gamit ko meron naman.. maybe its in the hardware or settings thing..

Posted by adv99576
@jeckjerick

check the box/manual that came with your 7650. tignan mo yung part na nagsasabi kung anong frequency ang naa-access ng fone.

Here are the frequencies of each network:
Smart : 900 MHz, 1800 MHz
Globe : 900 MHz, 1800 MHz
Sun : 1800 MHz only

kaya kung makita mo na 900 MHz lang ang naa-access ng 7650 mo, that will answer your question na kung bakit hindi maa-access ng 7650 mo ang Sun network.

Posted by jeckjerick
hmmmm its says na its Dual Band (GSM 900 / GSM 1800) so i think supported naman ung 1800mhz na frequency..

@ p3rsmag

in simple words..

CSD stands for circuit switched data, while HSCSD stands for high speed circuit switched data.

CSD is like your ordinary dial up ISP, only you use your cellphone to communicate with the service provider.

this service was first launched by globe if i'm not mistaken. the charging for this kind of service is per minute because it is a "call". but sun cellular CSR's claim that it is also charged 25 cents/kb.

but since there is this 24/7 thing, someone here thought that it would be nice to use CSD (since it calls +63922250, it is free of charge), but to our dismay, the dial up number was temporarily unavailable.

Posted by p3rsmag
OO nga. they blocked the dial up number.

i guess someone has to bring this matter to their attention. With their promo.. and its free doesn't mean they have the right to block it.

Paano na if your depending on this as your main internet access..

Posted by kenski
anyway tpos na promo so useless narin.

Posted by ex_crusader
eh, though the promo is over, prepaid users can still load up 24/7 call and text unlimited prepaid cards (while postpaid can apply for the service), so CSD could still be used "sana"...

Posted by ex_crusader
@ adv...

------

sun shops have never been so busy... daming bumibili ng prepaid sim cards, always 2 or more sims ang binibili ng mga nakikita ko.
------
bilib sa marketing head ng sun.
------
kaso... madalas ng mag network busy...
------

mga bosing, sensya na if this has been answered b4, but i havent been posting for some time and ang haba na ng thread e, pero how is the coverage of SUN in the whole 7,100 islands, so to speak???

Posted by dlreyes
Sun is better than Extelcom in terms of coverage but would still have a long way to go compared to Globe and Smart. If there is any indication of their seriousness to expand, Sun's coverage in a little more than a year is definetely better compared to Globe and Smart's coverage after their first 3 years.

For my purpose, parts of the islands of Mindoro and Marinduque were recently covered which makes their 24/7 well worth it for me. Smart and Globe only covered these islands after 5 years.

Buy a Php 250 24/7 card and get a vanity bag for free

sino na ang naka experience ng party line or cross line sa SUN? Naexperience na namin yun.. iba ang sumagot.. sabi ng SUN "extremely rare case" daw yun.. nakakatakot

Posted by dlreyes
I have experienced that in Globe, Smart and the defunct Piltel but not yet in Sun.

Just remember that mobile phones travel via radio waves though digitally encoded, would have a very rare probability of crossing lines and occupying the same combination of codes. There was a time when one can buy scanners to eavesdrop on mobile calls but with today's technology, such a gadget could be highly prohibitive.

Posted by netbreaker
Promo ba ng Sun yung 24/7 or permanent?

Posted by jack02
@netbreaker 24/7 its a promo before but its a part of there service

Posted by netbreaker
Oh really! That's great! Bka kc ginawa lang nila free call para makakuha ng maraming customers then afterwards may bayad na ulit.Magkano rate ng GPRS nla?

Posted by RaRe
Bakit ganun? d pa rin ako makasurf wap over gprs? wala na ung SE configurators! help naman pls

Posted by dlreyes
Just use apn: minternet... no need for ip address

Posted by translator_lapid
@dlreyes - No more hope for "wap" apn to work again? This was the free apn. "minternet" is charged

Posted by rickydel
@t-lapid true. Has anybody received a call from Sun technical for manual configuration of gprs/wap?
