Posted by bouncybanana
question ko lang...free pa ba ang gprs sa sun? iniisip ko pa kasi kung bibili ako ng prepaid sim ng sun...mura kasi
Posted by paulvince
I don't know with pre-paid but with post-paid i still don't get billed with gprs useage... i think.
Posted by bouncybanana
hm...which do you think is better? sun or smart prepaid?
Posted by notiboy00
got it from their customer service (dial 200) dat gprs is stil on test mode thereby der aint any gprs yet!!! so i dont wer d oders who claim dat deyr connected via gprs tru sun
d configuration (via the mall) dey give us is only for the mms which is still aint interconnected w other networks. d gprs setting is useless coz it aint workin yet thats y error message is shown when trying to connect but its olredi saved in the mobile fon.
(reply to ex_crusader) by d way i dont think its d fault of smart or globe why the mms aint interconnected yet since NTC has already mandated dat all services should be interconnected... maybe sun is still configuring the mms interconnection....

How to activate GPRS for SUN? Type ACTIVATE then send 2300.
Posted by bouncybanana
thanks...tama yahoo at myglobe lang...pero i think that's preferred for some of those who rather have gprs free

ang kulit naman ng ibang posters.. sabi nang hindi nga alam ng SUN customer reps na their GPRS is working FINE! kung gusto mong mapagana yang GPRS mo, meet up with me and i'll configure your phone, whatever your phone is! just tell me the brand and model prior to our meeting, then i'll show in your face that their GPRS WORKS!!! Hi. I want to buy a sun simcard, just for the free gprs access. Can you give me configuration setting for a P900 phone.

@ moochcaboodle
this is the super mega easiest way to obtain the settings (and this is like the hundredth time i'll write this)
point your browser to http://www.sonyericsson.com and look for the quick link of "WAP setup" at the bottom right portion of the page. if you dont find it there, look for it under "support" link. (ofcourse you have to select asia-pacific philippines first)
then... save the OTA settings... after... Go to "data comm." or wherever you may find DNS address, (if you find 2, try this first to one, if it doesn't work, do it to the other one...----> read on, but usually it is under "data comm.") input 202.138.128.28 ***ooops, someone said na there is a default DNS address daw... uhmm, i'll see if that works smoothly, if so, yun yung ipapalit ko dito..
ok? i hope this works.
btw, sometimes surfing could be unpleasantly slow, sometimes you'd have to re-connect GPRS, etc., perhaps this is what you get for surfing wap for free (ooops, i really dont know if this one's free for i have used "minternet:apn"(ericsson gateway) for the past months and it is charged 25c/kb... this one (the settings) uses "wap" as its apn, and sun's own wap gateway, so i'm not sure if its free or not...)
if still, this won't work, pm me and i'll tell you the other settings. (but that's definitely charged 25c/kb, indisputably!)

@kenski-can you login at esato light? cause I can't but I can post and can't also view pictures in other threads here.
Posted by kenski

Do you know about DIGITEL landline's latest promo?
The CHOICE Mobile Plan...
For an additional P100/month, you will enjoy 50 MINUTES of Digitel landline calls to Sun Cellular subscribers...
lumalabas na P2/minute ang tawag mo sa Sun Cellular for the first 50 minutes.
After the 50 MINUTES are consumed, you will be charged P5.50/minute on your Digitel landline to Sun Cellular calls...
Hanggang September 30 lang ito...

i have a post paid sun subscriber and i get charged with the use of my gprs.

I have tried SUN before, & I think that SUN's services do deserve high remarks. For one, they dont lie to their subscribers ( at least I never encountered one yet). The only downside w/ SUN is the signal, but it will eventually improve... globe had trouble w/ connectivity & signal befor too. Same goes w/ smart, when they started they also had connectivity problems. Yet globe & smart had denied this a long time. That is where SUN turned out to be unique for they hid nothing. I think SUN deserves a chance, Im activating my new SUN sim now.

The biggest problem right now is poor indoor signal. Getting out of the room or going near a window remedies this. Use Sun, get fresh air
The other problem is gprs network congestion w/c started around August 19, when Globe began (over)charging on WAP GPRS usage. I believe most of those who use Sun WAP now are former Globe subscribers, i.e., addicts to free WAP! Used to be able to WAP on Sun anytime; now, it's only usable from approx. 1:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
I have a Globe G-plan (will end in Nov.) but I will use Sun exclusively when it's terminated. Used to be loyal to Globe but their "unprovable" gprs overcharging tactic is just too disgusting: When I received my billing, the per-kb charge "seems" to be ca. Php0.14/kb. But what they actually did is that they increased the no. of kilobytes on the billing.
Globe's kb per billing stmt. vs. kb per your phone's internal gprs counter is nowhere near. What revolts me is that they falsely advertise a LOWER rate of Php0.15/kb (vs. the other networks' rate of Php0.25/kb) when in actuality, the charging is from Php0.68 to Php0.85/kb. Put on a Globe prepaid SIM and see for yourself!
On the other hand, Sun's charging for Internet access is very near the declared Php0.25/kb.

i just wish sun would install additional cellsites near my home so that i won't have to place my phone near my bed where the faintest of signal can be detected... and so that i won't have to keep a back-up smart prepaid line.

hi guys! i heard that agile messenger 3 is out with its new push to talk feature. however, getting agile messenger to work is still a mystery to me. i used to be a smart subscriber. what dns settings do i need to input for me to use agile? preferably using wap as the apn as im not being charged for gprs usage as of now. thanks guys. ex_crusader's help would be appreciated.

nag-improve na sa location ko (calamba) and signal ng sun. now meron ng signal sa loob ng house namin.

I use Suncellular prepaid and postpaid plan. Both have free GPRS access for WAP browsing. I think people who were billed for the GPRS access used it for WEB browsing. They also put a cellsite here in Quezon Province.

@galore Is your Agilemessenger3 not working yet? You cannot access it using the APN 'wap', it has to be the APN 'minternet'. But you will be charge .25cents/kb. I have tried it, it costs me Php2.00 just opening agile. When i used it as an IM alone (no PTT and pics) rates were between 50cents-Php3.50; depending on how long the message is. The push to talk service however, 1 voice message costs me about Php5-7. I hope this would help you. Ü

Sun subscribers (prepaid and plan) would be extermely happy this coming October. If all things materialize as planned, the subscribers would be receiving an offer very hard to refuse. Abangan... (sorry, cannot disclose but just hold on to your sims)
