im sorry. i might be right, i might be wrong...
what i know is, you can surf using SUN's GPRS if you are a -postpaid- subscriber, and if you're using your phone as a -modem-.
when i mentioned sun doesn't offer wap, i mean they don't offer it for -prepaid-. cos i have a prepaid SUN account, and when i ALWAYS call them regarding WAP, they ALWAYS say that they are not offering WAP yet... pardon me, even I am annoyed because as someone in the forum have mentioned, sometimes, they (the Customer Service Reps) don't even know (or isn't updated) about their own services...
correct me if i'm wrong =)

You're a little wrong and a little right
Sun doesn't operate their own WAP gateway, but unlike other operators you can use a third party WAP gateway like O2 and it will work.
The WAP IP is more important with Nokia phones, I notice with the Sony Ericsson P800, you can use the WAP browser with Sun's GPRS connection (no WAP gateway specified) - of course most of the time I use Opera instead to access WAP and xHTML sites.

this is just to confirm that WAP is available to prepaid subscribers, yun lang nga, may charge. akala ko nga its free since their cs doesnt know about it. so when i used it on my pocket pc for at least 1 hour, ubos ang load ko.
and also just to add, if mms is working, then wap is working.....
just request for a mms service and they will activate in in hours, then now you have gprs

Well who cares who's wrong or right right?

Bad trip o, sun cellular doesnt have free monthly sms allowance anymore, and their new promo? Plus 60pesos if you load a 500 peso call card. and then their new commercial? ang yabang nung bata na nililibre nya lahat sa canteen, e 60 pesos lang naman natipid niya.... haaaaayyyyy
Posted by paulvince
although sun is a new network, its services are better than those of smart or globe on their first year of operation. i just hope this level of service will continue and improve in the years to come.

I got a line from Suncellular and got a p900 with it last 12.10.2003. But until now they havent given me my p900. I've already paid everything with them and I'm using the sim. It's been a month now and no stocks of P900. Initially they said the units will arrived on the 4th week of December. So much for commitment eh!
Anyway, below are some of the categories where i believe help someone decide if they will shift to Sun.
Services (Signal,MMS,etc) satisfactory
Customer Service (hotline 200) fair
Customer Service (branches) needs improvement
Billing & Collection (statement of account) needs improvement
Rates (SMS,MMS,Calls) Satisfactory
In fairness, some of the people working in Sun Customer Service esp in the branches worked at Globe before...maybe that's why they're all snobbish.
Posted by ex_crusader
and here's my assessment:
Coverage :: satisfactory (good coverage in metro mla.)
Services (MMS, GPRS, etc) :: highly satisfactory
Customer Service (hotline 200) :: good! they return the call if they say so..
Customer Service (branches) :: good. really good, especially yung cashier sa sun shop sa galleria.. yung pretty don.. ehehe..
Billing & Collection (statement of account) :: good na good (detailed.. number of messages sent are also there. packets sent, and call details.. eh pano ba naman hindi magiging good eh they have Digitel [their landline] na ginaya lang nila ang pag gawa ng statement.. so.. fair enough to say na "Good na good" when it comes to this category.. kase they are very experienced naman nah..
Rates (SMS,MMS,Calls) :: higly Satisfactory (now look at globe.. they are dropping their air time rates, when they initially said in an interview prior to SUN cellular's launch, that they were confident in their rates.. now.. where is that confidence?)

Good for you ex_crusader! My first billing was a mess because they overbilled me by 20,000.00 more. I was only suppose to pay 700 pesos on my first billing. I went to their Galleria for address the problem and they said they would fix it. In my company, that would only take one day to fix such. But after a week i went to Shang branch to check on my billing and they havent done anything with my account! But i agree that the Cashier Chick in Galleria is hot though ;o)
My brother has a o2 xda 2. Cant wait to get my p900 so i could compare ;o)
Posted by ex_crusader
ahh.. yeah.. i must admit na others said they too experienced being over billed just like you.. uhmm... well... ewan ko ba..
Posted by Ravemarky
Mr ex-crusader,
Can you also please send me the settings for SUN MMS and GPRS? I'm using an XDA2. Thanks!
ravemarky1@yahoo.com
Posted by steele
my brother has an o2 xda 2 and it's cool! i really like the camera layout where you can view and take pics and videos on full screen mode. He has problems getting his configured also. Though he is on smart network. I suggest you go to the nearest Sun Shop or call 200 and let them fax you the configuration.
Got two lines (1 p900 and 1 t610) with them and at first my t610 mms is not working so i went to their office and asked them to make it work. Didn't go home until i saw my t610 actually send an mms ;o)
Posted by ex_crusader
@ Ravemarky
check your e-mail.. i already sent the settings of internet, WAP, and MMS for 02 xda II. let me know if you've made them work.

Hope to hear from you pipol
Posted by ex_crusader
Posted by anilrem
thanks for your reply..

i have read here the gprs settings of SUN.
What about its Wap over CSD settings??? I have searched yet all i found were mostly gprs settings.
Any Wap over CSD settings for SUN? this would benefit those non gprs capable handsets like SE T600, R320. thanks in advance.
Posted by bobstarsg
what about sending MMS, Sun dosnt have any network agreement with either Globe or Smart

hello pipol! i read about GPRS setting in suncellular dito sa forum, also came accross the free wallpapers for SE Phones dito sa Esato website, using the WAP. I have a problem, di ko kasi alam gamitin. Im using SE T100, parating wrong gateway ang lumalabas. When I called up CS sa Sun ang sabi sakin hindi paraw activated ang WAP services ng SUN, ay ano ba talaga kuya... nalilito, nahihilo na me! please advice... gusto ko talaga itry ang wap eh..
thanks

well, if indeed some of these people used to work at globe, then it's a good thing they don't work there anymore, right??
in fairness din, not all globe customer service reps are bad. let's please not generalize them all as being snobbish. unfair naman to those who are really there to help

seems Sun subscribers gotta lots of problem when it comes to service features, yes their rate is cheap compare to the two Network giants Globe & Smart,,,,,,but people its a matter of logic,,,, you pay less you get less. thats what you get for paying less..... anyway this is a democratic country, everybody has the freedom to choose , if you're not satisfied with Sun service just switch to Globe or Smart.
Posted by ex_crusader
and who the heck told you that we've got lots-a-problems when it comes to service??? their service is a "OK", their "the mall" is a lot better than "zed" and "explore" because no need to memorize special access numbers and keywords, we can also surf wapsites/websites thru its GPRS (unlike globe.. gasgas na). calls are clear, texts are received on time, i dont see any problem but the coverage and non-compatibility of MMS with smart and globe, BUT!!! mag hintay ka lang ng konting panahon at super nationwide na ang coverage nila at interconnected na rin ang MMs nila with the other networks (para naman kase sa statement mo eh imposibleng mangyari yun) and lastly, pay less get less? touch mobile had devalued its cost (5.50 din) and also talk n text, but do their subscribers get less?? ofcourse not (parehas pa rin ng nakukuha ng smart and globe subscribers -- talking about logic??? errr)! ohh, by the way, i dont accept that opinion that we get less.. ok? ciao!

i agree... lets just hope sun can improve its reach/coverage/signal
Posted by kutchi manggo
my friend from camarines sur complained several times that her msgs were not rcv, cs reason congestion. msgs not rcv were mostly sent abroad. her husband also experienced same problem at cagayan valley area. well, i hope this was already fixed.
of corz expansion for network coverage is still in progress just as Globe and Smart, so for sure you can expect an improvement of signal, lets just hope that it would be at very soon

yep.. infairness with Sun, naguumpisa pa lang sila. Ganun din naman ang globe noong una.. (I use to be a globe user)... na i need to go out of the house to get signal, minsan nga isinasabit ko ang cellphone ko sa may bintana just to have a signal.

again any Wap over CSD settings for Sun????
Posted by lantizh
I'm seconding the request fot SE T100 wap settings. I've only recently subscribed to Sun and got that phone for free on plan 250. So far I'm okay with their service. I'm sure they'll add more cellsites and services in the future so no worries.
I also have a T630 and a T39. Could someone give me the gprs settings too? Thanks in advance!
Posted by bobstarsg
@ex_crusader & rowenacruzcarlos, peace !. maybe you could help
ynohtna & lantizh seems to me you two are Sun knowhow people,
anyway i agree with you, okey lets give SUN a chance, again peace people, peace !
Posted by superunknown
lol
Posted by bobstarsg
@ lantizh all you got to do is to visit any SUN Shop and have your phone GPRS setting activated . They dont have it (the GPRS setting) on their web site not like globe or smart where you can print a copy of the step by step instruction , so you can do it manually all by yourself, so better visit any SUN Shop not unless ex_crusader send you a copy

@lantizh
the gprs settings are in the Sun welcome kit as well as the mms. Another option is for the over the air however it is only limited to nokia and SE seleted units.
Yes the Wap over CSD settings of Sun for the SET100 or any other wap phone would be of great help. Most of here are willing to pay naman db.
Sun gurus here... pls help and thanks in advance.
Posted by ex_crusader
ok.. i'm back! anyway, i aint a war freak naman, i just thought i had to explain things that way para may dating... PEACE.. anyways, i believe that SE T100 is a non-GPRS phone... it does have a WAP but you must use CSD/HSCSD to surf wap sites. i dont really know the CSD/HSCSD settings of Sun, but their CS may provide you the settings.
btw... customer reps really don't know that they actually have WAP over GPRS, they'd just insist that the only way to use WAP is thru CSD/HSCSD. i would suggest, you try to search the WAP/GPRS settings of Sun. uhmm.. on a second thought, i could provide you the settings, just send me an e-mail j_18_rcdelta@yahoo.com

try to input the DNS Address of SUN
202.138.128.28
connect>>data comm>>data accounts>> (the data account you are using for GPRS) >>edit>> DNS address
also make sure you have the settings correctly set.
=====================
Hey, FYI to sun subscribers, they already have a wap site, http://www.suncellular.com.ph try nyo.
=====================
Convert-a-load::
example, you have a balance of 150 , when you convert-a-load , 120 of which will be converted to 180 of text messages and can only be used to send msgs. to other networks (smart/globe/tnt/tm) , while 30 of which can still be used for voice calls and VAS's and can also be used to send messages to sun subs (0.50php/msg)
*remember that when you convert-a-load, you can never restore it back to 120 normal balance/credit/load

guys i'm planning to buy sun cellular prepaid sim... does anyone know if they have network coverage in palawan already?

sun cellular have already have a cellsite here in compostela cebu completed last month

How true is it that you can send MMS only from Sun to Sun subscriber?
Posted by ex_crusader
100% true. thats a strategy of globe and smart (cartel). they did not like the entry of sun in the market (who likes competition?? .. ofcourse i'm referring to business competitions here...) every company wants to monopolize... but since globe and smart has long been in the market, they have accepted each other as competitors and haven't wanted additional competition. that's why cartel is existing right now. they want to piss sun's subscribers off so that we (the subscribers) would think of switching para maka send kami ng mms smart-globe-smart. OR MAYBE I'M WRONG... perhaps, sun has technical problems... uhmmm... whatever the reason is, i hope, sooner, we'd be able to send mms to those two networks and vice-versa.
++++++++++++
sun allows you to change your number (personalise it), if you want to. just call their hotline and tell them that you want to change your number for a reason, then they'll ask you what's your desired number, they will check the availability of it, then they'll just charge 500php (regular) 800php* (for special**) to your upcoming bill.
*unsure of the price
**don't know how it is called
