That "Mall" sure has cool features but the last time I used it is when it was still free... or is it still free? I always thought of those things as profit generators for the telcos.

Posted by bonito99
I still have no gprs signal. 2 months and counting!

Posted by dlreyes
Bonits... you really have to call them everyday to check on your status. Ask them if they have notes in their computer to have your gprs activated. Ask them when it was made then ask them the date today. It goes without saying that you have to ask their name for future follow ups.

Posted by mari
@boss chits- were your issues addressed already?

Posted by bonito99
Thanks Chito! I've been calling them twice a week. The lousiest excuse was ' GPRS via WAP is still not commercially available , Sir'

@ * la p b wapsite sun? Mms me pls. 9228003776

Posted by KuyaJay
la pa WAP site ang SUN. pero pwede ka na mag-surf sa ibang sites using GPRS.

Posted by dlreyes
Bonito, just tell them that you need gprs for mms and they will have it activated.

Most CS don't even know that you can use gprs for downloading not only wap sites but also html by using your phone as modem.

Posted by bonito99
Thanks Chito! still waiting for it as well

SUN CELLULAR
Digitel Mobile Phils., Inc.

Attention : MS. MENCHIE BRIONES

Subject : Mobile Number +63 922 8228x8x
Account Number 01177xxxxx

Gentlemen:

I have been a subscriber of Sun Cellular since your launch of March 31, 2003 and have brought up a lot of concerns regarding the implementation of your services. Please allow me to enumerate these which have not been addressed nor corrected since that time:

1. Subscriber’s Copy of the Service Agreement. Since the time of my application on March 31, 2003 until the present,. I have been promised by people from the Sun Shop Robinson’s Galleria (a certain Ms. Mabuti on April 1 and 2, a certain MJ who was preganant on May 27, 5:30 pm, a certain Michelle Lotimo on June 24, 12 noon) and by different CS representatives over the hotline (Neil and Sarah on May 27, 12 noon, MJ on May 30, 10:50am, Neims on June 3, 10:30am, Red on July 1, 11:15 am, Christine and Kelly on July 9, 11:20am, Christine and Germaine on July 24, 8am) that a copy would be sent to me. I have been told that the head office has the copy and a follow up would be done. It will be close to 4 months now since my initial request and I have not received a copy yet.

2. Overcharging of the Cost of Unit. I was surprised when I received my bill # 1 (Exhibit 1) when I was being billed Php 3,500 (Php 3,181.82 + 10% VAT) for the cost of the Nokia 3530 for a 24 month new subscription when in fact your promo materials at that time indicated that the Nokia 3530 price for the same plan was only Php 2,500. My receipt for my advance payment likewise indicated such an amount (Exhibit 3). I have also attached your price list during that time (Exhibit 4) and a copy of a newspaper ad which appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Exhibit 5) for your reference and information.

3. International SMS not being included in the free SMS allocation. In my bill # 3 (Exhibit 2), international SMS was not included in the free allocation of SMS despite the announcements from your promo materials (Exhibit 6 which indicated FREE SMS with no distinction on local or international but gives rates on local and international SMS IN EXCESS OF FREE SMS) and Rate Charts (Exhibit 7 which again makes no distinction between local and international SMS in the Free Text Allocation but gives distinction to rates in Excess of Free Text). Your Webpage (Exhibit 8, http://www.suncellular.com.ph/sunshop/postpaidplans.html) even notes that “Free SMS includes Sun to Sun or Sun to other mobiles” and again makes no distinction between local and international SMS. If indeed international SMS would be charged seperately from free SMS, then a public announcement should be made to clear this matter and all charges prior to the announcement should be reversed.

4. Undelivered and Late Statement of Accounts. I have not received my Bill #2 Statement date April 17 – May 16 2003 despite my constant follow-up. It also fumes me that my request to furnish me a detailed fax copy could not be accommodated as well. My Bill # 3 (Exhibit 2) arrived in the afternoon of July 23, 2003 with a due date of July 16, 2003. I cannot settle my bill unless I have detailed billing statements.

I fully understand that Sun Cellular is the newest player in the mobile telecom industry and that much can still be desired for. However, I believe that these are public concerns which, if not addressed, could cause a major consumer problem and eventually a lack of public interest in your company.

I would appreciate that such amends be done for the benefit of Sun Cellular while the problem is still in its infancy. You can contact me through the numbers above or through my mobile phones 0922.8228x8x and 0917.8178x8x for any developments

Sincerely,

Damian Luis B. Reyes

@ dlreyes, Im in the exact predicament as yours (with regards to billing etc.), According to them their plans are CONSUMABLE yet ang laki ng charges ko sa txt and only those txt messages to a fellow sun subscriber (isa lang ata) were treated as free! Are they deliberately decieving us or what? The 2nd bill that I recieved where so late that I could not pay on time! Please post their reply as soon as you have recieved it..thanks a lot bro! For their sake I hope they don't ignore the letter you sent them...

Posted by kenski
hey guys, are you able to use sun's gprs 2day?It seems their gprs service is down..

Posted by dlreyes
kenski, I wanted to go to the right channels so I lined up at the Sun Shop in Galleria. I had the letter received by the CSR but as soon as she read my letter and the documents supporting my claim, she could not answer anymore and went to the office of her superior. The letter made its way to the head of the Galleria Sun Shop, Ms. Cielo Marquez who immediately invited me to her office.

Ms. Marquez apologized and admitted some of Sun's shortcomings and promised to bring it up to higher authorities since some of my claims were beyond her control.

That afternoon, she faxed to me my requested detailed copy of Bill #2.

@kap sori ngayon ko lang nabasa post mo... ill pm u tonyt for the settings.

@ sir dlreyes, thanks for your reply..Let's just just hope Sun get their acts together or else they will lose their customers (I'll switch to addict if there's no improvement sa service nila within 6 months.).

Saw in their website that each plan has a corresponding free txt messages (mines 1000) tapos ang laki ng charges ko sa txt according sa second billing that I recieved last week..I'll probably write them a letter one of these days..By the way were u able to access their gprs service lately? I can't use both wap and internet.

Gearbox, I talked to Sun CS and she told me that MMS is not free. It is charged the same cost for SMS, which can be 1 peso or 50 cents. Is this true?

Posted by gearbox
@casperr
no idea, i havent tried sun mms yet.

Sun Cellular is not a very good cellular provider. They lure us into getting their plans but in the long run they will charge us more.

I was also overcharged for P8000+ for the N3650 unit + P1000 advance.

It was a nice deal at first but when I tried to ask the complete billing details, they said I have P5000. Checked another time...P8000!!!!! Checked again and it was at P3000.

I did not made any continuous calls?! The bill statement was also late and I received in a DHL package. Why can't they send it by postal mail? Gagastos pa sila sa sulat...(they will pay more for the courier).

One thing that bothers me is that they told me that I had text in Norway.

What the F**K!!!

I just bought a new Globe pre-paid sim and use it for GPRS, MMS and WAP. I will not anymore attempt to make several calls using their service or else I might be charged more.

My father is an attorney and we will file a suit against them if they will not give me any reason why I was overcharged.

They will loose customers in the long run. Shame on them!

Posted by lethal_cassanova
the signal is very poor too...... very limited coverage area.... the gateway between sun and (globe-smart) is not yet fixed...laging...... try again later..kung emergency calls yon...patay na ang kamag anak mo.....

Galing!

Nakakapag-internet na ako, WAP at e-mail pa using my POP3 account.

Hanep!

may nakakaalam ba sa inyo how sun computes your bill?

in my statement of acct. kase, btw, my plan is 1000 Pioneer I-text,
there is a summation of the ff:

MSF 909.09
one time charges/debit adjustments 909.09
usage charges 1,131.91
->(breakdown: sms total is 530.25, voice: 601.68)

then they deducted their so called free sms and free voice 1,123.73
w/c gives me a subtotal of 1,826.36 + VAT 181.82 + OCT 0.82

all in all 2,009 but since i have 1000 balance, my amount due is 1009.00

QUESTIONS: where have my 700 free text msgs gone? they showed me their computation for my free text is 522.05, san galing to? di ba dapat my total messages sent (530.25) should be deducted from 700 free sms? plus may kinompyut din silang free voice (free airtime worth) of 601.68, san din galing to? sabi kase nila 1000 is consumable!!! that wud mean if i'd sent exactly 700 sms's in a month, i shud have 1000 to consume for voice calls or data or succeeding sms's. guys do u get it? bat ganto ang charging nila? very different from what they advertise. i know 1009 is just a minimal amount, but what if in my next billing there'd be hidden charges or overcharging because of such way of computing our bill? besides, why'd they sum up my MSF and usage charges? shouldn't they just deduct my usage charges to their SO CALLED 1000 worth consumable??? and forget about those alien free air time worth? but considering my 700 free sms?

do u experience the same thing? how did u deal with this? tnx.

salamat po

@mekeni2000

u said that ur billing changed from time to time, from 5t to 8t to 3t then u received ur billing statement.... may i know how much was ur real bill then?
________________
(i wont disclose some details) kase, when i asked them how much was my running bill, sabi nila it was 2000+ in less than 2 weeks, eh ako naman i know my usage, besides, meron credit limits ang mga plans nila as stated sa booklet nila diba? before, my plan is pioneer-i-text 1000Php, ngayon sa dad ko na yon, ang plan ko now is i-text 600Php, accdg. to them, the default credit limit for plan 600 is 750, (accdg. to the booklet they give away with ur sim upon approval of application: "when you exceed your credit limit, your line will be temporarily disconnected"::meaning outgoing calls/txt/data will be blocked) now... how the hell will i consume 2t+ when my credit limit is just 750, why can i still make calls and send messages and use wap??? btw, i'm just a student..

@ice_jepree

here's what u shud do:
in the services menu, go to service settings
edit active service settings
then in the ip address field input...

I.P. address: try the most common public gateway
>O2 - 193.113.200.195
others (tested 100% working)
>194.129.183.45 / 212.185.045.150 / 209.212.118.136 / 202.056.231.021 / 194.154.192.098 / 192.036.140.080 / 202.075.133.049 / 148.122.161.115 / 194.048.124.071

then
Access point name : minternet
leave all other settings unchaged

*let me know if u've made it work

Posted by ferrarista44
Access charge is P0.25 per kilobyte. Applicable charges shall be applied for information and content downloads.

source: http://www.suncellular.com.ph/products/gprs.html

Posted by adv99576
@kieboy

sun cellular don't offer access to wap services yet...

Posted by jett
cmon, alang signal ang Sun!!! i still like smart better than the other 2 networks...

Posted by dlreyes
adv99576, they've been offering since they started last April... it was free until June when they started charging.

One has to request Sun to activate their GPRS and I guess this has been extensively discussed in this thread. Once gprs has been activated, wap browsing with your phone is possible as well as using your phone as modem for PDAs and notebooks.

Posted by kieboy
@ adv99576 - I beg to disagree, my friend is on Sun and we were using wap yesterday. Why would you think I would ask the cost of accessing wap using sun if its not applicable?
