@jowi
he's just asking for the gprs settings - that's generic. if you have the answer, post it in the sun thread in the gprs/wap/email forum.

@lethal
your side comments are not appreciated. im just letting you know how it works around here - if it's off the topic, it's off the topic. keeping things organized makes it more useful for other who searches for topics and discussions.

uhmmm.. i'm a gonna try sun's services and i'm planning to subscribe for 1T/mo, i have very little budget so i'm up to grab SE t310 for php 500... right now, i'm using a boring 8250 smart-powered celfone. do u think it's just fine to switch from 8250-smart to t310-sun? although we (at leat most of us) know that ericsson has just introduced its first 3g fone and we also (again at least most of us) know that globe and smart are on a race to buy a 3g license... i'm just wondering if it'd be fine if i'd tie myself with sun for 2 years knowing that globe and smart will soon be operating on UMTS/GSM-GPRS???? anyone.. opinions please...

T610 will be available by late next week. price available to date is only from Sun cellular (sun stroke blitzs).

Prepaid at P24,990.
Plan 250 (P19k)
plan 1000 (P16k)
plan 2000 (P12.5k)
plan 3500 (P8k)

check out their blitz at power plant,festival mall, edsa shang, robinson's place mla

i wonder how would hub and addict have us spare for this phone...

Posted by ex_crusader
whoah! i can't believe that what we believe dead telco, extelcom, is planning to set up a 3G cellular service in the philippines with bayantel.. that's quite surprising and amazing as well, this makes me wonder if i'd tie myself with sun for two years... what if extelcom is the next big thing??? what if... what if....

ei, is this true??? please be kind to confirm this issue. tnx.

Posted by arnoldc
extelcom is not dead, yet.

Posted by bal_yee
yup extelcom is not dead... di ba they have this unlimited calls pa nga

Posted by mygimmick.com
enjin_tiu,

Are those Sun rates accurate? Looks kinda steep!

Posted by enjin_tiu
urgimik - its accurate man, price from their plans are not that too enticing, that's why im waiting on how much globe and addict would offer this phone. lets just see, one week time dude...

Posted by dlreyes
More than a month since I needed it, Sun now has roaming in the US. Other places with roaming agreements now are Singapore, HongKong, Switzerland, South Korea and South Africa.

Posted by ex_crusader
well, that was just a figure of speech. anyways, about how'd globe and smart would offer their units... they said they were confident enough of theirs (either the rates or fones' prices) and if they'd be planning to drop their prices, they should have done it now, cause it's a big deal if their subscribers are to switch to sun.. well... my p.o.v. only..

Posted by kuku_blade
Hello There!

Bago lang ako d2 sa thread nyo. I'm planning on buying a Sun prepaid sim. Well, prepaid lang kaya ng budget eh. anyway, just want to ask, ung mga I-speak plans ba at I-text plans ng Sun, applicable din sa prepaid subscribers? confirmed n b ung prepaid phonekit ng Sun sa SE T610? 24k ba talaga?

Posted by dlreyes
I-Text and I-Speak are available for pre-paid.

Posted by kuku_blade
@dlreyes

Tnx for the answer...still thinking about buying. medyo may doubt p rin sa Sun eh. can't help it...baguhan pa kasi eh!

Posted by dlreyes
As I mentioned before, their startup coverage is better compared to Globe and Smart when they started. MetroManila coverage is fine as well as major cities in the region. Get a pre-paid first so you can try it out.

Posted by pooh
@dlreyes, sir how much is the pre-paid kit of sun cellular? and where can i buy it. (cencia na po freshman here in manila)
Thanks.

Posted by dlreyes
Pre-paid kits are available in all Sun Shops (Galleria, Robinson's Ermita, Megamall among others) while pre-paid sims are available almost everywhere including MRT stations.

uhmm.. hassle... medyo mahina signal dito sa town namin.. uptown kase, pero in manila, it's pretty good. i just applied for plan 1t, and sooobrang hassle ng pinagdaanan ko sa pag apply.. so if i were u na gustong mag apply for post paid sa sun, bring more than the requirements asked. (i.e.: kapag humingi ng POB magdala kayo ng 3 buwan, kapag sa POI magdala na kayo ng ITR dagdagan mo pa ng passbook at credit card, sa i.d. magdala ka ng tatlo isama mo pa passport mo kung meron) dahil sa higpit nila, i was there in their shop applying for 12 agonizing hours na may kasamang pabalik balik dahil kakakuha ng requirements na hinihingi pa ulit na di naman nakalagay sa written req. nila.

pero!!! the good thing is, kapag na approve na application mo (until june 22 03 only *promo*sun stroke*) may discounted or free na yung unit na makukuha mo, may free pang nokia prepaid handset *for selected plans only...

kaya after ng approval and release of unit, gumaan din ang loob ko. kase anyways, afterall 2 units ang nakuha ko.. both free.. harharhar.. yun nga lang, though in key areas malakas ang sun, sana dito sa uptown angat bulacan lumakas na para naman pag pumupunta ako dito may signal..

Posted by kapitan jackal
@Ex- 12 hours pards question lang, is this your 1st time na kukuha ng post paid line? just asking 12 hours? pwede na akong bumuhay ng patay nun eh

Posted by ex_crusader
oo pare, student palang kase ako. besides, ibinenta ko na yung fone na gamit ko, so i had to have a fone immediately. communication is very important to me believe it or not. and kaya ako magsa sun coz i wanna try them and besides they got good offers... anyways, di naman as in tuloy tuloy yon that i was there for str8 12 hrs. i went home nung lunch, i went back at 2pm, i went home at 3pm, we (me and my mum) went back @ 3:45pm, i went to bulacan @ 4pm, i went back to sun @ 8pm. dami kasing hinihinging requirements.

what i was saying is, i started to file my application @ 10:30 am, and sadly i ended up @ 10:30 pm... but.. i heard sa globe daw, ang application don takes 3 days to be activated.. i said "activated"... (not approved)..
but in sun, within 24 hrs. that means, as early as an hour passed after application... that was another good thing.

nag apply dina ko ng postpaid sa sun...... nag submit na ako ng standard chartered credit card statement of account with a credit limit of 60,000, certificate of employment, company i.d. sss i.d., credit card, after a day.....agent called me and told me na kailangan pa nila ng 1 month payslip ko..... grabe considering im applying for a 250 per month sa kanila........ its been a 2 weeks now...wala pa din response ang sun.....bagal ng service nila..... pero ok lang..kc di naman ako nag intay ng 12 hours...kc nag punta ang agent nila sa office namin... don lang kami nag transact...hehehhehe.....sana may makuha din kaming free fone tulad nyo....

Posted by kapitan jackal
@Ex, lethal- sobrang tagal pa rin. at sobrang higpit. when i applied for globe, photocopy lang ng ID at credit card. TAPOS NA! may libre pang kape at tira-tira

suncellular people.... be competetive naman.... wag nyo na sabihin na mas marami kayong cell site ng mag start kayo compared with other network....

magkano ang prepaid kits ng sun?

Posted by ex_crusader
uhmm.. ganon nga. soobrang higpit.. wala pa naman sila masyadong maipagmamalaki eh naghihigpit na agad sila, whereas dapat mas tumanggap sila ng subscribers na hindi mashadong naghihigpit. pero, baka nga takot malugi, kase try to consider the prices of units w.r.t. the plans, talagang mababa in comparison to globe and smart, tapos yung pre-termination fee yata nila is just 5t or more < 10t. besides, sila palang yata yung nagpapa free ng prepaid phone kit aside from the discounted or even free (again) units for selected plans.. parang these are too much nah kaya people willing to avail these offers should undergo such torture. konting tyaga lang.. lolz

___

___

SE T310 new firmware release is R3B, will be available soon in SE service centers, (contains fully functional calendar)

wait, alam ko more than 15 na posts ko ah..

anong frequency ang gamit ng sun?? i tried using the sim on a 5110 and it has no signal, with globe and smart no prob naman...

Posted by dlreyes
Gearbox, Sun is using 1800 mhz simply because the 900mhz is already full from the allocation of Piltel, Extelcom, Islacom, Globe and Smart.

The Nokia 5110 uses only the 900mhz spectrum. It is only a single band phone.

Posted by gearbox
thanx for clearing that out all the while i thought they were using dual band... =)

Posted by crowing
question po, since putting in a sun cellular sim there's this green thing icon that i cant understand on my t68i "desktop" what is that?? and i read through the whole thread, should i call sun to get my GPRS activated??

Posted by dlreyes
If it's the green phone with a number 1 beneath it, then it means that you are using line 1. The Sun sim is capable of storing 2 numbers.

@ * meron na ba wap site ang suncellular?

mms me please - 9228003776

i got my sun prepaid yesterday. can't it access wapsites?

@dlreyes
thanks for indulging us

Posted by jangelo
@kath, call sun CS to hav ur gprs activated. Their # is 200 toll-free from ur sun line. I use minternet as GPRS APN and the SE I.P. as my gateway.

Posted by dlreyes
Kath, I have some issues against Sun as well but I am waiting for my second bill to arrive which is over a month overdue already. I need my bill as evidence to prove my point. I shall inform everyone as soon as I get it.

Posted by kath
@jangelo
got my gprs activated already, thanks. amazing cos they said it'll take 24 hours to have it, yet i had it within an hour. but i figured that sun has no access to wapsites yet

@dlreyes
pls do, thanks. good luck.

Posted by dlreyes
Sun HAS access to wapsites... in your wap profiles, just use the Ericsson gateway (193.095.167.178), o2 (193.113.200.195) or any other free public wap gateways.

Posted by kath
@dlreyes
got it. thanks so much!

Posted by ex_crusader
ei dlreyes, i tried using those gateways but i get this message in return : "wrong i.p. address" , should i leave all other settings unchanged, and just have to input any of those gateways?

____
they also say that internet over GPRS aint available yet. ???

i understand that i should put minternet as my APN, but i dont know the parameters to put in my laptop.

Posted by kenski
@ *, are you able to use GPRS service of suncell today?Puro connection timeout me badtrip!

Posted by doctabako
@* SE and halebop gateways has been down for the last 2 days. Use the O2 gateway.

Posted by KuyaJay
About these public gateways..
How do I configure a p800 to use them?

Thanks!

Posted by Jowi
@dlr
nakaka access ka pa ba ng pop mail using the email client? im having problems lately.

Posted by dlreyes
Jowi, yes I can still send and receive though it takes a longer time. I just tested it now.

Posted by ex_crusader
Ei, Now, Let's Talk about "the mall" , the zed-version of sun.
has anyone used this VAS? i like it soo much that when i'm bored, i just enter the mall, and download mms/polytones, magazine covers... i also use it to request songs in radio stations, i also use the Dictionary service and its quite cool!!! really cool.. i just have to enter the word and it'd send me all the definitions of the word, it also gives synonyms and antonyms, sometimes, the word is used in a sentence for more comprehension/understanding. but other services are still to come, cant wait for those...
