gusto nyo maging technical?

if you added memory to your PC to make it faster, what do you call that? replace? NO, it is upgrade.

if we put in more interface boards to a mobile switching center to increase capacity, what do you call that? replace? NO, it is upgrade.

so upgrade does not necessarily mean replacing it in every context.

baka nasanay lang kayo na when you upgrade your firmware, you lose the old one.

@arnoldc
correct! if i have a brand new P900 and i sell it to get a brand new P910, that's still an upgrade - even if i literally replaced my unit

hey wazzup... sensya na sa mga nag private message sakin... dehins ko nabasa, tagal ko nang di nagvisit sa esato, been busy the past few months!

@ex_crusader, welcome back! Do you still own a Sun plan?

Posted by ex_crusader
yup! i've been with Sun for more than 24 months and counting.
but, since sun hasn't any "Membership retention program", i'm considering switching to smart that gives free phones every two years to keep their subscribers... too bad sun doesn't have that program...

by the way, i like MPx so much, i've been waiting for tHAT unit.

@ex_crusader
eto nagtitiis sa services ng Sun. Dati calls at night lang mahirap. Now pati SMS parusa.

Parang ok pa tuloy ang mag Daylite para 12 days instead of the usual 7 days. Hinde ren naman makatawag sa gabi e.

@ex crusader,

You mentioned you want mpx that much.If you are referring to the motorola mpx, mayroon isang 2nd hand unit sa robinsons place sa padre faura. Much much lower than the price at the mall.
If i am not mistaken, the price of the mpx is around 20k.

Sorry, off reply sa thread.

With regards to Sun, bottom line is after all its poor service and signal, kung wala ang radical pricing ng SUN, hindi magbaba ng call rates ang Smart and Globe. Look nowadays...because of Sun, smart's promo of php 10 for a 3 minute call or php 15 peso for a 5 minute call translates to 3 pesos per minute. In the long run, we the consumers win. However... lugi yung mga post paid kasi on the average plan, the cost per minute translates to 5 peso/minute (for 1200 to 1800 smart plan) for Smart and Globe.

people, just want to get your opinion on this matter... plano ko kasi magpa-line sa SUN. sabi sakin ng customer representative ng sun "pwede daw i-enable ang CTU sa mga postpaid subscribers AT NO EXTRA COST". napaisip tuloy ako, ano ang difference ng naka-subscribe sa CTU @ sa hindi naka-subscribe kung pareho lang naman ang babayaran nila?

The lowest plan at Sun right now is P350/month, correct me if i'm wrong. There's an alloted free SMS and Call Minutes. Now, if you want your Sun to Sun calls/text to be unlimited, they will charge you P250/month from your P350 monthly subs. But this won't be on top of your monthly. What will happen is that the P250.00 will go to Sun to Sun CTU, then the remaining P100 will be for your call/text for other networks. This is recommended when you have many friends or colleagues on Sun Network. What they meant by enabling it without extra cost, is, they won't be charging you for any fee for the activation.

I agree with your post with regards to prepaid subscribers having a better pricing per call as of the moment. However, there are come advantages being on a plan compared being on prepaid. E.g. Globe internet is only available on postpaid plans. Unlimited GPRS for Globe. Faster connection. Less drop calls. And there are good retention plans for Globe and Smart subs. I'm sure there are other benefits aside from that. But you're right, they should (operators) at least even out the pricing per min of postpaid and prepaid.

I wish Sun would come up with an Unlimited GPRS for prepaid. Like Load up 500 to 1000 pesos to surf all you want

Sun - the network I Love to Hate

I love it when it works, I hate it when it doesn't. One of their ads suck, showing a doctor on 24 x 7. I think they pulled it out because it was a joke.

Posted by steele
NEW PROMO:

Daylite Call and Text Unlimited is extended to 15 days instead of the usual 12 days!

@arnoldc
Yeah i saw that. Good idea. But it's doesn't apply to Sun's reputation.

Posted by ex_crusader

btw, @ ynohtna
anong name ng store???

Posted by ynohtna
@ex crusader

i forgot the name of the store cos my line of sight was pababa. puro sa mga cellphones nakatingin. hehehehe.

if you have time, just window shop sa cellphone stalls sa mall and you will find it. maliit lang naman yung area.

for a detailed pinoy review ng motorola mpx by Mr. Howard Paw, surf the the webpage ng mpH magazine.

So, it only means... I will still have Php 100.00 left as "regular load". That's a good scheme for me, as I have many friends in the Sun network, and few other friends in other networks whom I need to keep in touch in times of emergency... Thanks for the info!

No problemo Enjoy the "Sun" while it's still bearable

Correction:
The lowest plan right now is Php 350/month
Unlimited Sun to Sun calls and text is Php 350/month not Php 250.

If one is subscribed to Plan 350, the subscriber may opt, upon advice to Sun, apply the Php350 monthly to Sun unlimited call and text. If he opts to do this, then calls to other networks and text beyond the allocated free messages (I don't remember how many now) would be charged on top of the Php 350.

For those who subscribed to the old plan 250 and wish to avail of the unlimited Sun call and text, Php 100 would be added to their bill.

Posted by steele
@dlreyes
Right. I stand corrected. I was referring to the old plan they had. It's a good thing though that subscribers have the option to go unlimited on their plan. Depends if you have friends on Sun or with the other networks.

SUN cellular updates:

- Spending $ 200 Million ( P 11,200,000,000) this year to fast track roll out of cell sites to increase coverage and capacity. The increased spending is addressing the increasing subscriber base and improving capacity to handle calls as well as provide for better coverage.

- Sun cellular's capacity is expected to handle 3 million subscribers by year end 2005.

- Has allocated another $ 200 Million (P 11,200,000,000) next year(2006) to accommodate 6 million subscribers.

- Sun Cellular could afford to give Unlimited Call and Text Rates as Standard pricing scheme instead of just a promo because unlike other Telecommunications provider(Smart or Globe), Sun Cellular has Brand New Telecommunications Equipments acquired recently at 1/2 of the original cost when the older companies acquired them. These savings are passed on to Sun Cellular subscribers in the form of Value for money propositions like 24/7 CTU and Daylite pricing. In the end, the consumers themselves benefit with lower rates while giving them the power to choose.

- Sun Cellular advertises Less than the other Networks. This results to significant Savings to the company, which are then passed on to subscribers.

- Sun Cellular is a new entry player and as such, must be given allowances for its network upgrading. The times were long gone when BOTH Smart and Globe had network problems when the cellular industry was yet starting. Back then, Globe and Smart CHARGED for every Drop calls and Un-sent text to anybody in their network. Good thing for Sun Cellular, you could still dial again to reach your recipient without having to spend if you're under 24/7.

Posted by steele
good news on paper. but for now, good service from Sun is far from reality. addtional nillion subcribers? their network can't even handle calls at night. Dami pang drop calls.

i use a bokia 1100 for my sun when i got a sureload sim 6 months ago... for the past 2 months, i have been having signal problems... lagi nawawala signal ko... a few days ago when i complained sa SUN shop they told me na maraming cases kami na ganun--"no signal sa 1100" any of you experience the same? i know its not the phone coz if i put smart and globe sim ok naman and when i put my sun sim sa other phones ok din

Posted by Jowi
jwb-619 has 4 Bokia 1100 thats included in a sureload package. those 4 units lost their "sun" signals

Posted by lethal_cassanova

for those whose prepaid sims have been cut due to "abuse" of their unlimited service check the article in last Monday's Manila Bulletin...

http://www.mb.com.ph/TECH2006011753989.html#

Question... how can one abuse something which is unlimited?

Posted by Jowi
i converted a regular load to daylight. it was deducted by P100. Until now (24hrs), i havent received any Pin Keys yet.

Posted by dlreyes
I have started to question their parameters of "Abusive" or "excess usage" as Sun made my prepaid Sureload sim "temporarily unavailable" since December 29. I was given the explanation that these incidents usually happen to those who subscribe to their 24/7 promo.

What Sun could not understand is that my number which is "temporarily unavailable" had NEVER, I repeat, NEVER availed of their 24/7 promo... In fact, the prepaid load is now Php 690+ because it was seldom used for outgoing calls and would automatically be loaded Php150/month due to Sureload.

They told me that my case is still "under investigation" but when confronted until when, nobody could answer...

Sad thing is that the load would have to be consumed by Feb 2, 2006 otherwise, goodbye load and their system would purge my records...

I shall update you of further developments.
