So I got the HBH-60 a few days ago. It's my first bluetooth headset and I'm having various problems:
-Connection drops during phone call
-Quality of voice is sometimes very bad. I've been told I sound like I'm underwater and sometimes I cannot hear the other party.
-Voice commands don't always work (very seldom work).
-Caller hears their own echo during conversation with me.
-Sometime phone freezes (this has only happened since the HBH-60 as I've had no problems with bluetooth connection with computer)
-Sometimes headset doesn't connect to phone when needing to answer call.
Anyone have comments/suggestions to improve my HBH-60 experience.
I'm using a T68i phone.
Thanks,

Thanks lazarini,
Seems my software version is R5D007. That would make it very old huh? I'll upgrade the software hoping that it'll fix my problems.
Great board!!

Don't know if this helps but I just bought a HBH-30 and in the box was a notice from SE and it states:-
"If you own a Sony Ericsson T68i mobile phone, you might have to upgrade it with new software to obtain optimal performance with the Bluetooth Headset HBH-30.
Please contact your local dealer for help with the software upgrade.
Note: For optimal performance, the T68i should have software version R2E0006, or later"
Bottom line is check your software version of your T68i. If may have the same issues with the HBH-60.

What is your bluetooth operation mode?
If you set it on automatic, sometime you can lost connection especially after you off one of the device.
I tried voice command on HBH60 before...whenever I use automatic, normally it failed.
But I am using T39 which is a different phone.....but advisable to upgrd as mentioned.

I keep the phone on bluetooth on all the time (drains the battery fast).
I have noticed that the "underwater" effect that I described is when I'm driving. Is it common when driving to have slightly distorted voice?
I'll try the software upgrade first and see how it goes.

i get what you mean.
this seem to happen if you are having a bumpy ride.
the person I am talking to always complain I talk like a robot whenever I pass thru a bumpy road while going back home.
I am not sure this is severe on Hbh-30 or not but it is a bit obvius/iritating on HBH60....well i don't mind tht coz the receiver of my call still manage to hear what i am talking.
one more thing, try not to get your air conditioner vent facing the microphone....tht make the voice quality really bad.

Thanks for the tips! I hope my HBH-60 experience improves.
Like another poster on this board, I also find the battery time very shrot.
Posted by SunilC
How short is very short? I used mine today after a full charge and it lasted less than an hour before it cut off! Is anyone else experiencing this or do I have a faulty headset? I have a motorola bt headset too and that also has a talktime of 2.5 hours and it lasts much longer than the hbh-60. I was planning of getting rid of the motorola headset and replace it with the HBH-60 but I'm not so sure anymore. Any advice guys?????! Thanks!

I haven't really been counting the actual time, but in a mix of standby and talk time, I've had to charge it every other day.
If your battery charge lasts only one hour, I would suggest you get it checked out by SE.

thanks! i think i'll just exchange it for a new one rarher than taking it to se, hopefully the next onw will be better. Just one question though, how long did yu charge your headset the first time?

My HBH-30 works great. If you don't have a BT headset yet... I'd say go for the HBH-60. But seriously? To upgrade a BT headset just isn't a great idea since all BT headsets (except Bluespoon) will be using the same BT chipset. So it's kind of pointless.
I tried the HBH-60 and it's really small... not that much lighter than the HBH-30...it actually feels heavier on the ear since all the weight is on the outer part of the headset... the HBH-30 distributes the battery at the back of the ear so the headset FEELS lighter when worn.
The HBH-60 also has a much shorter battery life than the HBH-30 since it had to use a smaller battery.
Just get the one that looks best for you. They're all the same. Except of course, for Bluespoon.

I used it(HBH60) for 20-25min phone call everyday.....on it from 7am to 10pm but it manage to last 2 to 2.5 days.
Some how I notice there's no "Beep" warning when it is lin low battery state. I used HBH20 before and tht manage to Beep to give me warning.
does HBH30 have those warning too?
like jplacson...it's still depends on your preference.
the biggest advantage to use HBH60 is you can easily know /learn the way to wear it.

Sunil,
I charged it the first time for about 1.5 - 2 hours. I didn't leave it charging longer because I wanted to try it.
Good luck with your new unit.

Thanks vacoum, i'll let you know what happens with the next one!
Just one last question though...do you leave your headset on or off? I still don't know weather the 72 hour standby time refers to the headset being completely off or being on but idle? Thanks for your help
Sunil

Hi Sunil,
I never turn it off. I figure that it's good to have it on all the time.
I think the standby time refers to the HBH-60 being on.

Hello guys,
I just bought the HBH-60.Works fine except with voice dialing.
When the t68i askt to speak and I say a name, the phone freezes.
I also did the upgrade to firmware R7A013. So that couldn't be the reason. Any idee's?
Thanks and greetz.

Using HBH-30 and it works smoothly.Just seen here that you can got a beep from the set when it's goin out of power. Is that true?
Posted by c96sthl
it still can be the reason even you get it to R7.
Maybe R7 still have some bug. But try to on the bluetooth connection instead of putting it at automatic.
or you try to get them repair again.
BTW I notice some small thing. If you put the headset into
the pocket of your pants with lots of things inside, sometimes those thing can press onto the button and reset the headset!.
I donno this can easily happen to HBH30 or not, but a few days back this happen when i put my phone and headset into the pocket of my pant.

I got a HBH-60 and after pairing it with both my T68i's I thought at first it was great , but after using it in my car and my coach it is useless. When I am in the house or at work it is fine but if I am driving no one can hear me they only hear bits of my conversation behind a loud crackling and buzzing noise. I have only had it a couple of days and spoke to Eshop where I got it from and they have ran out of stock so will issue me with a replacement when new stock comes in.

hbh60 is a bit sensitive to pick up noise from radio, you air conditioner's blower and sound of tyres/suspension due to bumpy road.
when you drive, and want to talk using it, try not to turn the radio volume very loud....then don't make the air con. blower facing the head set (your face).
Also the way to wear it is very important, always try to make sure your headset is wear properly on the ears, sometimes you just don't know you didn't wear properly.
I do adjust the headset position sometimes in order to let the microphone have better position "facing" my mouth.
For road condition....cannot help it coz when its bumpy, my sound always sound like robot (complain from friends)
maybe try to change better tyre will help
Posted by volvoman
I have tried to move the headset about but it does not seem to make any difference to the quality of sound. I hopefully will be getting a replacement as soon as Eshop have them back in stock. Will give it another go and see if it was just the handset. I do not want to do any software upgrades as I don't want my handset to develop any faults and want ti to stay in the great condition it is in. I have heard a lot of horror reports of handsets going away for upgrades and coming back faulty.

I would just like to p[oint out that laser pointers are very dangerous things if used improperly. I have a friend that lost his coach licensce after a child pointed it into his eyes and caused temperary blindness which is still to servere for him to get his PSV licensce back and he lost his job through it. These things are not toys and should not be treated like such. Please don't make comments about using them in disco's in the way you discribed as some idiot will try this and someone else may lose their sight.

O.K. An update.
After upgrading the software, the HBH-60 got worse. It is now impossible to talk to people as they can't hear what I say because my voice gets intermittently cut as I talk.
I have just sent it to the SE service centre. They will take 3 days to look at it and I'll see when it returns if there's any improvement.
Posted by c96sthl
ok volvo man
sorry for the joke....will erase it but i think using laser pointer for presentation with hbh60 is ok
thanks for the warning.
anyway you can use bluetorch on it too.
I believe HBH60 problem is not on the headset but the latest firmware for T68
Posted by Magnum
Hello,
I have the latest firmware R7A013 and everything works great after a reset of the HBH-60.
So i don't think that's the reason.
Posted by bklieger
mine freezes and i just got the firmware upgraded, it is good for only answering calls, via headset button. voice commands do not work!!!
Posted by c96sthl
did you make your operation mode for bluetooth in automatic or "on"
you need to "on" bluetooth operation mode in order to get voice dialing/command work nicely. minus magic word.
Posted by nsingleton
If you record your voice commands using the headset you should find it works better. The only time I have trouble with mine is when I'm driving fast and the road noise increases. I also had a similar problem with the HBH 20 & 30.
