e-mail inbox - dotted icons!!!???

I have 20 e-mails in my IMAP account. The t68i downloaded 16 of them, but one came up as a dotted envelope (it has a picture attachment). 4 didn't download.

when I clicked on the down arrow below the message headers, the 4 remaining e-mails were downloaded.

BUT... when I read one of them, another e-mail that has been previously downloaded becomes the "dotted icon", and must be downloaded to read it. As soon as I do, another icon becomes dotted.

Am I only allowed 16 e-mails in my inbox???

What's up with this thing :?
