Two tips you probably already know (couldn't find them in the search engine though):

1)When phone is ringing you can turn it mute (but not hang up) by pressing the "c" key.
2) In case speed dials are not used, by pressing and holding any number key you get the adress book screen for the relevant letter.

FYI, 1) Slipping down the volume key can also silent the ring.
