GOwin...

I don't think it's my phone... I tried my friend's phone it wasn't also working properly... I keep on checking the status indicator and keep getting the same message... "GPRS: GPRS not allowed"... By the way, what does that status indicator have to say when the GPRS is working properly?

What is the CID=1 mean on the menu when you chose the GPRS connection you edit?

This is getting frustrating...

Posted by WestIce
By the way, I got another question...

Do you have to have a special SIM card to access Globe's GPRS?

Posted by arnoldc
@westice, there is no special sim to access gprs. it's in your subscription. CID=1 is the connection identifier and corresponds to the lone data account that you have in your phone (globe only has one, smart uses two). have you visited a globe center?

Posted by virus
What i did is i called their cust service tru a land line, then asked them to guide me step by step. Would you know kung how long wil they ofer gprs for free?

Posted by WestIce
arnoldc...

Nope haven't visited one yet. Do they have to do a special setup to the phone other than the one they provide?

By the way, thanks to all you guys trying to help me on my problem... its much appreciated.

Posted by virus
U dont need another sim to acces gprs, u just have to ask them to activate it. Hurry coz they ofering it 4 fre e as of now! :-o

@n|ck_xp
we pay US$ 0.00 for GPRS access in the Philippines.

@westice
would you mind posting your actual settings here? the suggestions to have Globe's CS guide you step-by-step in configuring your phone using a landline might also be helpful.

GOwin...

Here it goes...

APN: www.globe.com.ph
User id:
Password:
Password request: Off
Allow Calls: Automatic
IP Address:
DNS Address:
Advanced Settings:
Authentication: Normal
Data compr.: Off
Header compr.: Off
Quality of serv.:
Precedence: Subscribed
Delay: Subscribed
Reliability: Class 3
Peak Rate: Subscribed
Mean Rate: Subscribed

I called Globe via landline for step-by-step instructions about five times already. Still no luck.

By the way I'm not bugged by the "GPRS: GPRS not allowed" message already. It turned into "GPRS: GPRS unregistered"

Thanks for all your help man... really appreciate it.

1 solution is, place ur simcard to another t68 or SE phn n try connectin to find out if the prob is ur smcrd or celp. Isolation.

And data comm -> Preffered service is GPRS and GSM right?

Posted by WestIce
Yup....

Preferred service is GSM and GPRS

I think we're left to finding out if:
- it just happened that you're in a spot with no/bad GPRS signal
- defective hardware

hmm ... a few weeks back i had a problem with GPRS. i was stumped for a day, and can't find out what happened. called up CS and ranted about it, but they weren't able to help. so i was resigned to the possibility of a hardware problem.

out of the blue, i decided to take out the battery for a few minutes, and check out the contacts if they're clean (my real intention). tapos when i placed it back - viola - GPRS signal is back. di ba arnoldc and GPRS ?

GOwin...

I'll try that... At this point I'm desperate to try anything right now... I'm wondering if Globe just screwed up in activating my account... My phone now can find the GPRS signal... It's showing the inverted "L" icon on top of the signal bars but it's saying "GPRS: GPRS unreistered"... the inverted "L" is not disappearing anymore...

Anyways... Thanks again man...

if by april 26 theres no gprs yet. will test it on EB day

My GPRS id finally working! It turned out to be that Globe screwed up. I called again this morning and told them the problem (again! ). I insisted thaat they check on the activation again and the CS was nice enough to double check. Apparently the globe guys just set the status to activated without really activating it. So they activated it for me and Voila! I've got GPRS!

Thanks guys for all your help!

well thats a good news....welcome to WAP-GPRS world WestIce.

Just wondering...when does it say "This post was posted from a WAP device" and when is it able to detect which phone you were using to post messages here? 'Coz I've posted via WAP a couple of times and that message changed, without me changing any settings.

No urgency here...just wanna understand it.

Posted by GOwin
@yiz19,
I think it depends on the network and the gateway that you use. But (it seems to me) only non-:se: phone will always be called "WAP device"

I have tried posting using WAP from my PC. I got the WAP device signature instead.

Posted by yiz19
@GOwin: Yeah, I read somewhere that it depends on the gateway you use. But the thing is, I didn't change any settings on my phone - and it's the same phone - but it still changed.

Oh, well...as long as it's working.

globe just reset their gprs settings.. try this, mine works:

on data comm--> data accounts--->
add GLOBE GPRS- APN: www.globe.com.ph
add GLOBE MMS- APN: mms.globe.com.ph

save and exit.

go to wap services6--> options8--> WAP Profiles2
add GLOBE GPRS-
CONNECT Using : GLOBE GPRS
IP address use: 192.40.100.7
save and exit.

then add globe mms-
connect using : GLOBE MMS
IP address use: 192.40.100.20
save and exit.

* you can also use SE gateway here by:
add SE GATEWAY-
connect using : GLOBE GPRS
ip address use: 193.95.167.178
save

then go to SELECT PROFILE6 and select GLOBE GPRS or SE GATEWAY

then out.... at main menu:
go to MESSAGES2--> MMS2-->OPTIONS5
Message server6--address: http://192.40.100.22:10021/mmsc
go to WAP PROFILE7--> SELECT1: GLOBE MMS

Hope it works for you... this is confusing..

This is unknown to others, but you can actually use wap with prepaid accounts but the first digit of the 7-digit cellphone no. should start from 9. Try it.

Does anyone ere were able to set up their email setting?

Posted by GOwin
i have.

you need an email provider which supports imap or pop protocol. if your SP doesn't support them (ie yahoo.com or hotmail.com) then try www.myrealbox.com or www.hotpop.com

Hi I'm using T39mc and been using the Globe GPRS since last year. I had no problems, I can even check my office email thru the email software that comes with the phone. But recently I cannot surf anymore but i could check my email. Then i tried the go t39 at 2951 that changed my GPRS configuration. Now i can surf but cannot check my email. Lot of my friends have this problem. Can somebody help me? Nachecheck niyo ba office email niyo? (ex. xxx@abc.ph)?

Thanks
bea

P.S> Paano maging member ng pinoy chit chat?

Posted by GOwin
i got no problems with mails using the phone. what gateway are you using? (tip: use Ericsson's gateway. search the forums)

there's not such thing as PCC membership. it's open to everyone.

Hello everyone, I'm trying to configure my e115 & e125 with my t68i for GPRS. Do I need a driver for it to work with e115? I have tried to connect and it tells me no carrier detected. Can anyone tell me what drivers I need or settings I need to use? BTW, I've used the phone to connect my laptop with GPRS already. Thanks...

@619

hi! followed your instructions in adding WAP profile SE Ericsson. pero ayaw mag load!

if i choose that profile, "connecting" then "loading" and then the page won't open. lalabas lang yung status (time connected, bytes downloaded) tapos wala na!

wanted to try the ericsson profile sana coz globe limits download to 3kb or less! thanks!

Posted by 619
rck.. try to use this as your ip 192.40.100.7

Posted by deepsweech
email tip: any email which provide:
1.SMTP(for sending)
2.POP(for receiving)
3.username/password(for your email)
Then thats it! put this into your t68 email settings

Posted by rwchick
@619

Posted by 619

Swerte mo 619 i tried same settings and it doesnt work. Bka naman its because im on prepaid? Bka totoong browsing web is only allowed on post paid

Posted by Mitz501
sabi sa inyo just change your APN, yun ang sabi ng GlobeQuest kanina when i asked kung bakit ayaw mag load ng pages sa Palm ko kahit nakaconnect ako sa GPRS. they also asked kung postpaid ako, siguro kung prepaid wala na talaga

Posted by joberns

Posted by Ying
@619 Fyi tried changing the APN to internet.globe.com.ph then left my old ip setting of 203.177.042.214 oks pa din, i could still browse using the t68 as my desktops modem..
