Last year you posted and I quote:

"Posted: 2002-03-16 12:
I'd just like to ask for feedback from fellow Globe users who uses GPRS connections to connect their PCs or laptops.

I find it irritating that my connection suddenly drops out, and though im still connected to the network I can't reach any website.

If I try to browse the net from WAP or my PDA, the connections work but using my laptop it fails.

The problem seems random but only occurs with when I use the laptop.

I was just wondering if you can share me the solution to your problem if you have already found the remedy. Thanks.

change your apn to internet.globe.com.ph when browsing the net, otherwise, use www.globe.com.ph for wap. but beware coz they charge very high.

Posted by orthodoc
i would just like to ask if Globe charges already for the use of GPRS. I have been browsing using myT68i and I would download themes or background pictures (not from the Globe website). I was surprised that I could download items as large as 21KB (esp. themes). Is Globe charging me for browsing and downloading items?

@marioulouis
its on the first page of this thread

just use this ip 192.40.100.7

Posted by mariolouis
@jowi

man, i get this message "gprs parameters not supported". wap browsing through my t68i doesn't have a problem. i wanted to use my ipaq for browsing the internet using the www.globe.com.ph apn and not the internet.globe.com.ph. there's a port setting that i have read somewhere here at esato and i cannot find it now.

Posted by casperr
Yeah jowi, cant find it either. Can u do it without charge? Seems like im a lil late abt ths. Can anyone fill us in here? Thanks

Posted by Jowi
@mario, casper
oh, sorry...i don't know that

Posted by mariolouis
@jowi

no problem. i can send/receive email with it anyway. just wondering if i get charged for that, though.

Using the APN www.globe.com.ph for using your phone asa modem has already been blocked (among so many other access, like nowmms) by Globe. If you use internet.globe.com.ph as APN to connect, it is belived Globe will charge you.

Posted by Jowi
@mario
email is free

Posted by mariolouis
tnx jowi. i found a solution now. i installed ezWAP on my ipaq and works well with the www.globe.com.ph apn, browsing wap, html and xhtml.

Posted by mariolouis
btw, @dagger, i can still use nowmms. my backup sim is prepaid and still sends mms with 1 peso credit. i download tons of pictures and screensavers from esato and phoneimage via wap with no charge at all. i guess it's free.

Posted by totings
Pwede ba humingi ng tulong? Pano magset up ng email para sa t68i ko? Pano yung step by step nun? Tnx in advance ha! Btw ganja.com yung email ko. Pwede kaya yun? Salamat ulit!

Posted by Dagger
@mariolouis: It's not the sending I'm concerned about, I can send MMS. I'm concern whether the people i send it to receives them.

Posted by GOwin
@totings
use SEARCH. get off wap and use your PC. all the info you need is already posted

Posted by totings
@GOwin err, tnx but can u at least tell me wat thread shud i luk 4. Tnx again!

NowMMS might be down by now.

Posted by GOwin
@geussepe53
yes, you can use the phone's built-in email client to send/receive mails PROVIDED that your email provider supports IMAP or POP. try www.hotpop.com (for details and configuration, please use the SEARCH function as there are a lot of threads discussing the same subject already.)

PS
you mentioned yahoo.com. sorry to tell you but it won't work unless you pay for pop3 access. hth.

What is the final offiial charge of GLobe for GPRS?

50 cents per kilobyte? Sent? Received?

My friend told me that plain surfing without downloading any righs ro pics is free, is that true?

Posted by senninha
WAP browsing is free, so long as you don't download any images or tones. Viewing thumbnails is ok, but once you request for the full image, its as good as sold.

Accessing the web is 0.50/kb, send AND receive, so beware when using your phone as a modem with PC or PDA, or P800 web surfing.

for POP and IMAP email, you can still check your mail using the WAP gateway and it will still be free. webmail must go through internet server and will be charged the above rate.

Posted by KiRiuMF1
how do u set up t he email of the 7650 ... not using the mms ... but the email function

Posted by totings
@kiriumf go to mailbox, dun sa messgs tpos define now (if there are stil no settings) then just fil up the needed infos. Pero u should have an email with POP3 or IMAP.

4 GPRS settings just text "GO t68i" to 2951 n ull receive d setting just press d yes button 2 install it on ur phone 4 wap settings text "ericssonwap" to 2333 ull recv d setting just press d yes button 2 install it. In order to send & receive a MMS for prepaid user , you should first have your phone registered at the nearest Globe HUB, and they will activate it after a week. - bobstarsg

My problem is that I cant seem to connect to the internet using my tungsten T. I did everything that was mentioned in the mapalad site but i still cant get it to work. I hope that someone can help me and give me the exact settings that I need to configure on my tungsten as well as my phone. I receive this error message by the way "ERROR: NO CARRIER (0x1102)

Hope someone out there can help.

Thanks in advance

PS> I would like to attend the EB's..how do i go about doing this? Is it by invitation?

Posted by Rotavap
->td3ph, globe has not yet activated ur account 4 access 2 gprs. Try calling them again and see if you can surf wap/gprs. Just a note, they charge 0.25 php/kb using the internet apn. Post ka sa the fil channel, pseug moderated thread o pnas eb 2 get more info. Welcome!

Hello! Pwede po ba magtanong? Since pop3 email port has a problem or blocked, can the imap4 be accessed using globe prepaid or is it for line only? - tia

Posted by GOwin
@cpm
all email ports are blocked, including the imap port. i think there are still some major kinks in their billing system that's why they decided to block the ports intead of just charging the user for it (which i would have preferred, coz sometimes i need email access while on the move)

Posted by CPM
@gowin

Thanks for the info Sir but I've heard some globe users with line can access the imap4 port by using APN INTERNET.GLOBE.COM.PH but have not confirmed this.

Posted by Mitz501

Blocked pa rin po ba pop3 email ports for globe prepaid? Tapos selected na lang ang wapsites na ma access ngayon? Umm...what's next?

Posted by nephilim
I was just wondering, are the Globe GPRS settings at the beginning of this thread still accurate?

Posted by nephilim
Anyone. With all the changes since GPRS was implemented more than a year ago, I don't know anymore which is the latest?
