dont hold your breath i work for voda was told on mon that it would be fri but told today POSS next friday

can all the voda customers ring and shout to get this phone out

Posted by malcs
At the moment am on vodafone and would like to stay there, but looks like i will have to switch to orange because of lack of P800.. damn!

Posted by Fahed_2000
What happened to vodafone, it used to be the first to launch phones.
Now i am considering the orange offer, specially if i find someware that unlocks the P800

This is ridiculous......
Below is the content of an email I sent to Sonyericsson customer support.
Sorry if I go on a bit.
-------------------------

I have just been informed by my local Vodafone shop that the P800, I
was due to receive today, is now not available until next Friday 7th
March.
I cannot find the words to adequately convey to you how furious I am
over the completely unprofessional way the roll out of this phone has
been executed.
We have been promised dates again and again (since Q3 2002) that
were obviously never going to be achieved, and when the phone does
finally start to arrive in some form it is on one of the least popular and
most restrictive UK networks and there is no sign of it anywhere else.
I am then given a firm delivery date of the phone on Vodafone, one
week after it’s release on Orange, only for the shop to be informed the
day before that SonyEricsson aren’t shipping any units this week.
I want an explanation!
Can you please give me your assurance that this phone will be
available to the Vodafone network before I die of old age?
Can you also assure me that the support of this phone, once it does
turn up, will be an improvement on the way it’s release to the
networks has been handled? Otherwise I am seriously considering
returning to Nokia.

This situation is a very bad reflection on both Sony and Ericsson, two
companies which I have had good service from in the past.

I eagerly anticipate your response.

Chris Fletcher.

Orange is actually the most popular network in the UK by more than one million customers.

As for the delay, Orange are supposed to have a 3 week exclusive deal before it's released on the other Networks.

Posted by Londoner1982
Richardadc either you made that last thing up or someone misinformed you because vodafone has more customers than any other network in the UK and orange has no such deal with sony ericsson about a so-called three-week priority. the phones are already in vodafone warehouses and are being delivered to all vodafone retail outlets during next week, ready for general sale on friday 7th march. Quit making stuff up.

The information on Orange having an exclusive deal was from David Chow (What Mobile contributing editor). As for the subscriber figures, that was from a trade magazine. But i'm sure if you send an email to Oftel they will confirm this.

Your post did give me a laugh though.

I faxed my "rant" to my local Vodafone shop and the manager forwarded it onto the head office.

I got a response from SE stating that the delay was due to Vodafone holding up the release due to problems during testing. I hope this isn't going to hold it up further.
I also got this same message from the Vodafone head office.

We'll see what happens this week.

Unbelievable!!!!!
This is made so much harder by the fact that two of the guys in my office have already got the P800 on Orange.

Is this still the official line Steve?

Posted by steve10574
just says now instock week begining 10 march so looks like fri will keep you informed

I gave up on Vodafone last week and grabbed the last Orange P800 from CPW. As I'm out of contract, I've ported my number to Orange at no cost and got the phone for £199 rather than the £299 that Vodafone want.

Getting my e-mail via GPRS worked first time with Orange. Unlike Vodafone where I never managed to get it to work on my Nokia 7650 and couldn't find anyone in Vodafone who could assist. Perhaps I was unlucky with my e-mail but so far the transition to Orange has been smooth. A few years back I wouldn't have touched Orange but the service appears better now.

My voda store has P800 dummy phones, and also 3650 dummy phones. The woman said they should have the phones by the end of the week. Im hopin to catch one of the guys 2moz tho!

i work for voda and today i spend my whole day puting out new books with the p800 in changing displays with the p800 in

KNOWING FULL WELL WE PROB WONT GET THIS PHONE TILL NEXT FRI AT THE EARLYEST

can every one get and shout at voda even if you have the p800 allready i think it will help the rest of us

Hi

Does anyone know how much the p800 will probably cost in a vodafone store on the cheapest tarrif, say £14.50 P/m?
I am going to buy it in CPW tomorrow but its £380 on the low tarrifs.

Thanks

Voda are doin half price line rental 4 6 months. The guy in my store suggested buyin the P800 for £299.99 on vodafone 200 at £12.50 for the first 6 months, then changing to vodafone 20 at £14.99 for the last 6 months!

Posted by steve10574
sorry guys 1/2 price line rental is only on live phones and the p800 is not one

so £299.99 and 12.99 a month is the best price

still being told fri 14 but i will wait and see after the lies we have been told in the last few weeks

LOL - just to be picky, Orange actually had them instore on friday 21st of feb, not the 22nd! (well, my nearest 4 Orange shops did!)

Posted by Anuj
No ones got any !

Posted by steve10574
we have now been told in store from 19 march it was a supply prob from sony

i think what happ is voda ask for one to test while this it happ carphone/orange then just place a order then phone pass's voda testing and we place order and we are then a long way down list to get them

Posted by con
I think the problem with vodafone is they have to configure it to support vodafone-live services.
