WOAH!!!
This is a beast, pity with regards to the Snapdragon 810 and 32GB with no SD slot, but 4GB RAM, the Camera, an audio chip other than what is built-in, just wow, good going ZTE, lets see how it does...

I said it last year, the Chinese OEMs are coming, and they are rentless. They started with the cheap low end market and suddenly began going after the top end since late last year, next year they are going to refine the beasts they are making and by 2017 I expect them to be owning it in terms of software.

Times are getting interesting.

The issue that I've always had is with the software support from such companies because it doesn't exist. I wouldn't expect them to send out bug fixes or optimisations. With the mainstream companies you get lots of updates and tweaks because they listen to their customers in that sense. Then again, who would argue if it were to come at a low price and I guess root users would like this type of hardware.

Chinese companies are showing us that the hardware is cheap and the big companies are massively marking up their products but I think the prices are fixed so regardless of the technology, you know that the iPhone for example will be a certain price at launch. In terms of competition, unless they start making waves in the market I don't see the big hitters cutting their prices. As a consumer, I would love companies like this to sell truck loads of phones.

^ You remember how the same thing was once said about Samsung and LG when they were the new kids on the block?

Am I the only one seeing a VERY clear pattern here?

Remember, the Chinese OEMs want profit and Western Market acceptance, the 1st step was to create brand awareness and get their products to as many as possible, this was accomplished with decent low end phones, next was to get the top shelf hardware, they now have it, the next is getting software right (the refinement we should see next year). They are learning as they go, EXACTLY the same way Samsung and LG had to learn.

By 2017 we should see the Chinese OEMs focusing more on the customer experience...actually Huawei is far ahead as they are at this point already, just pick up a Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and you will see what I am talking about. Xiaomi are also quite a bit ahead, having been the creators of MIUI, they seem to understand the importance of user experience and just require a little more time and resources to get it all down.

Putting great specs only doesn't make profit, Samsung and LG learnt that and the Chinese OEMs are picking up on that, and others will soon, and when they get it right the likes of Samsung and LG and even Apple will feel the pressure.

The smartphone market is just so dynamic, I know Apple ,Samsung and Google seem unstoppable now, but I feel we have almost gone full circle and are fast approaching where we were in 2007-2010, where things began shifting and we saw a leader get overthrown amongst other things.

Samsung was never a "new kid on the block"

They've been making phones since the beginning Phones > Feature Phones > Slider and Flip (ahem actually clamshell) phones > Smartphones: S60, UIQ, then Windows Smartphone Edition then Android. Their a premier Android OHA partner.

You are taking it far too literally, what I mean is that when they entered Western Markets and began going after the very market that Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola had been dominating, they were like the new kids on the block. I know down here in South Africa Samsung were mostly known for their great appliances and then circa 2003 we then began seeing a very heavy push with their phones, and if I am not mistaken it was like that for them in many other countries around that time.

My point in the end is that we once again have new manufacturers that will be doing everything in their power to change people's perceptions of Chinese handsets in the same way Samsung and LG had to for the South Koreans.

The weird thing is I see a very similar pattern in the car industry, although happening at a slower rate, the South Korean manufacturers Hyundai and Kia, Hyundai being a partial owner of Kia, are making gains on the European manufacturers, and are actually making better products in some areas. Hyundai and Kia have shed off that "cheap" image they had, and can be sometimes recommended over the German competitors e.g. Hyundai I20 vs Volkswagen Polo. Looking at car prices recently I see Kia's are now being sold at higher prices, no longer as affordable as they were before, relative to competition.

We now have Chinese manufacturers trying to enter many markets where the European and S.Korean automakers have a sizable share in low end vehicles. Their offerings are pretty crap right now, and are comparable to what the Germans had in the early 90s, but give it a good 8-10years, and we are going to start seeing some great products.
