T68i secure imap with SSL

At the company where I work, we're about to disable non-secured IMAP access on port 143, and only allow secured (SSL) access to IMAP on port 993. The only problem with this is that we have a few users with T68i's, for whom this doesn't seem to work. There doesn't seem to be any option in the mail settings to enable secured communication.

Has anyone gotten this working? Is there a software patch that updates the T68i email to a more capable version? Any other ideas?
