Wow, that's ancient history.

Oh wow history indeed

Back then I was about 4 years old.

I hasn't changed that much.

Looking back at that I remember when Esato was a lot busier place.

Yes Esato was really active even in 2010, I remember it being a lot more active than today...

I think that is in part due to the change in members..... back then we all got along a lot better(IMO), we were really all here just for the love of phones and all things mobile.... plus there were less of the "know it all - Newcomers" flexing their internet muscles.

As of late, it just seems to be going downhill between one voters, fanboys and popup ads.

Yes indeed & people who scream at you just for having an opinion I was Seanyb2 before Bonovox & before that I used to just browse Esato and look for new themes using the old Sony Ericsson feature phones Those were the days

Yeah but not only that, most of the people just bought an iPhone or whatever.
It doesn't bother me really but a lot of people lost interest in SE.
Well nowadays I don't even have a SE but that's not really important is it.

Lol, my old username here was GUCCI.011 ...or was it GUCCI_011? Anyway I miss the old busy Esato, I miss the debates, before I got here I wasn't big on phones, I had a SE W800i mainly for the Walkman music player, and 512mb mem card, then I one day Googled for Themes, that led me here and the rest is history. I'd probably have an iPhone right now had I not found this place, I really never was that bothered about what phone I had, I was just happy to know its capable of the usual stuff: Music playing, playing vids, taking pics etc....

Whatever happened to PeterKay? I remember the buzz he created here when he had the P1 and other prototypes before announcement and I miss the endless debates Dogmann, Boinng, Synn, Max Wedge, MWEB, QVGA etc...got into then there was/is Prom1 (now Supa Fly) and someone else (totally forgot their name) who would drop in with some great insight.

it's madness, Hans. Back then having a 4GB Mem stick was a huge deal, apps+games were barely 1MB and VGA video was unheard of until the N95 arrived.

I remember thinking wow I got 40mb internal memory on the K700i

Perhaps you mean Bobafett? He knew a lot about phones, and was very friendly and helpful, never aggressive or rude in discussions.

I miss the "old bunch" too

What happened to Geezay?? He was the last to receive the Esato World Tour paper??!?

Posted by goldenface
Yeah, ScotsboyUK was a good read too - a great debater who managed to take apart an opposing argument.

The mobile landscape has changed so much.

I can say that even the mentality has changed...
When I see 9yo kids playing outside without iPhones, I rub my eyes again.
It's a rarity to see kids playing outside.

I was not here by the time

"Officially", as a member, I wasn't here either in 2001, only as a reader

Its barely changed since i first signed up. This is my second username on Esato, i first came to Esato in July 2003. I posted about 100 times on a username i cant remember, it was something with T610 in it, something like T610Guy, as that was the phone i had at the time. Come January 2004, i just created another username as i couldn't remember my old one. This one, was my nickname at school.

Sadly Esato has degraded very much over the years due to the break up of SE and the different audience that we get on here due to various reasons going on in the industry. Also, the loss of Masseur i think damaged Esato irreparably.

Posted by alenn
Yeah Esato isn't the same without him.
But I do hope that Esato gets more active in the future, given that forums are internet's oldest type of social websites.
And less and less people are on forums.

Yes, the place is different without masseur but still seems to be ticking along at a leisurely pace..

My T610 had 2mb memory. That was enough about 4 photos. How things have changed. I still have my T610 now, with a new case.

I might have a retro day and use it for 24hrs. It might make me appreciate what I have now more.

Didn't it have 3mb ?

Mine took about 30 pictures before it was full. I remember having to juggle memory by having to delete (not uninstall) java games and what we called apps back then. I think I could use my T610 quite happily, it has an amazing keyboard and it was so pocketable.

When I replaced it with the K700, it was brilliant, but it didn't have the same character as the T610.

I kind of miss those debates too. Yes it is me, although this is a new account; a few years ago I got so annoyed with one or two posters here that I told laffen to delete my old username. Which he did, gladly I expect!

Anyway. I did think of coming back before but then saw what had happened with masseur and well I guess that really broke the esato part of my heart. I'll say what others have said; masseur was esato. Esato was masseur. Laffen may have built it, but masseur made the place. I hope he's at peace wherever he is.

Still have an iphone. Still am right about that...
