The Official Esato Camera Phone Shootout Competition December 2013 "Coloured Lighting"

Hi Guys.

Thanks for all the votes in the November comp, which I was very pleased to win, it was a great theme but not many entries, surprisingly enough.

For the December, it's a festive time of the year for a lot of people around the world but also doesn't exclude anyone. I've chosen 'Coloured Lighting' because in the night time, you can always see an advert lit up, a Coca Cola sign, traffic lights, fairy lights, candles or anything that gives out colour on a dark night, really.

Find some examples below and good luck everyone.

Nice theme

Posted by alenn
Amazing and exciting theme
Will shoot ASAP

Very nice. With December's shorter days and longer nights (northern hemisphere) this makes for more opportunity too.

Posted by goldenface
Brilliant.

It's quite a cheerful theme I think, with lots of scope. I'm looking forward to seeing some nice colourful entries.

Now imagine a Aurora Borealis.
Now, that is a winner shot for me.

Posted by hihihans
Very interesting 😊

That would be a feat. Not many of us have had the opportunity to witness that spectacle.

Posted by rikken
I might be able to capture a shot of the aurora borealis if we get a clear and cold winternight

Posted by XperiaJunkie
would the flashing lights of a police car count on a Friday night in the city centre lol.

Posted by goldenface
Of course

Posted by XperiaJunkie
Just took this very quickly of an LED lit Christmas bauble it's not an entry I just like the colours.

Would be great!

Awesome theme! Congrats, goldenface!

I did upload a photo, but I realized it was taken on november 29th. Just in case, this was the photo.

An aurora would beat the #%%$ out of the others. Please forbid that one

That's rather a nice shot XperiaJunkie. Worthy of being considered for the competition.

Posted by hihihans
@XperiaJunkie, it is a valid shot, keep it.

Posted by alenn
Hans where is that sig url?
XJ (if I may refer you as ) that is a good colorful shot.

I still have to fiddle with my N900 because it overexposes. Hmmmm..

Posted by goldenface
At alenn, copy mine if you need to.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
Cheers to everyone who likes my photo will keep it in mind to use it but I'm sure I can get better and there is still a long time to go plus I have a feeling that this months shootout will be very close with some stunning photos taken.

Come on people, go Christmas shopping and don't forget to have your phone stand by, ready to shoot the coloured lights.

Nice picture, but I'm afraid, it was an oversight. Afaik, last month's winner can't change the rules, he/she can only pick the theme.

Posted by goldenface
Pity, that's an excellent picture mlife.

How about the unedited one, mlife?

Posted by hihihans
Rules are as always.
Added them into the first post.

Yea, post unedited, it cannot be much worse.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
I just took this of a fibre optic Christmas tree using night mode and a little bit of movement to create the effect so far this is my entry as I won't get much chance to take many more photos but you never know I can change it once though if I do get a better shot.
entry changed

Trust me... I thought about that but the crop was way too wide and the background way to bright.... lots of post to get it to that point. I had phone set up on tripod and was not sure where the firework finally was going to be so width wise that image only represents about 1/2 the frame.

I think I'll go back this week sometime and shoot it again with the 808.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
I know it's still early in the month but I thought this month's shootout would off been flooded with entries so far we only have 2 either people are really busy or have an ace card up their sleeves lol.

In The Netherlands people put up their Christmas decorations this week and next weekend. This morning I looked around and found 1 neon tube "closed"

@Bono cracking shot there probably the best so far.

Posted by Bonovox
Cheers Just a small part of Birmingham lights. We have had the German Christmas markets for 11 years now & it's grown to over 200 stalls. But most of the stalls were not really multi coloured

Nice shots. Bono we have similar lights in Zagreb
I have to go downtown sooner or later and my N900 hates low-light but I think I have a few ideas in the back of my head.

Posted by Bonovox
Cheers. Was going to upload the one with the outdoor ice rink and ferris wheel but wasn't coloured enough.

Hi all,

First time at this, I got a bit creative on the weekend whilst at a resort in Noosa, QLD Australia, for our 5 year anniversary (whoo we made it lol).

you still could.... but IMO your first shot was way better.... the new one is still very nice (don't get me wrong) but I LOVED that first image!! .... I'll shut up now seeing as I have no entry at all

Ah OK thanks

Posted by mlife
Seeing as my 1st entry was deemed invalid, if I post a photo will it be considered a second entry or will I still have the option to replace it voluntarily?

Posted by Bonovox
Good question
