Esato was founded in the year 2001 and was mainly targeted at Sony Ericsson mobile phone users. We started with a couple of services offering free ringtones, grayscale logos for the Ericsson T39 and R520 models. We have expanded the service to include free color backgrounds for over 50 mobile phone models. Other popular services are the discussion forum for anyone interested in topics about mobile phones and accessories. Even if the focus was targeted at Sony Ericsson owners, we now have separate forums for owners of other brands. The most popular sections are the News, Blog, discussion forum, Free themes, free color backgrounds and a service where users can upload images from a PC and download a converted image down to their mobile phone.

Nice wishlist indeed. Doesn't seem like your wish would come true though

Posted by amirprog
A realistic improved spec for Z1 successor is:
CPU:
1. snapdragon 805
GPU:
2. adreno 420
RAM:
1. 3 GB
SCREEN:
1. 5.2 inch FHD highest quality IPS LCD available.
2. gloves mode.
DESIGN:
1. no pre installed shatter film - it scratches easily and affects the touch responsiveness a bit. make the glass itself more shatter and scratch resistance and add oleophobic coating.
2. consider all aluminum back and sides. less fragile then glass.
SOUND:
1. louder speaker or 2 speakers for a fuller and louder sound.
STORAGE:
1. 32gb as standard.
CAMERA:
1. better image processing to reduce noise.
2. 3 dimensions OIS (like nokia use).
3. dual LED.
4. 4K ready.
OTHER:
1. IR blaster.

@amirprog,

+1000000

New things should be there
1- 5.2" FullHD IPS/IGZO
2- Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420GPU
3- 3GB RAM
4- 32GB internal standard for all flagship, this should happened with Z/Z1 already… and the microSD is there, if there's no microSD, then make two versions 32GB and 64GB ( not only 32GB )
5- No Pre-installed shatter film ( this is just crap and will lower the quality ), gorilla glass or dragontrail is good without this one, and include the normal screen protector as usual
6- Gaps over display should be smaller than Z/Z1
7- Larger battery, A lot will prefer larger battery over thin… not to mention a lot of companies managed to have larger batteries in small area's… I know larger density batteries tend to live shorter, but smartphones now rarely go beyond 2 years for most users…

Extras
1- IR blaster
2- better and louder speaker
3- Glove mode

There's still the rumored camera update which should tweak the camera software for Z1, if that does not bring anything then that'll be the time to call Z1 camera a letdown in expectations. Z1 camera is good though, but definitely needs tweaking.

Afaik Carl Zeiss lens are exclusive to Nokia in mobile sector, so Sony can't put a Zeiss lens on Xperia. imo G lens is good, it all comes down to the way the lens was manufactured if it was intended to be high end with more precision at the cost of making it more expensive to produce.

There's a chance to implement Xenon if the rumored next gen Xenon are ready, I haven't read any news about it lately, I hope it makes progress. next-gen Xenon. Smartphones these days are thin and are usually what the majority wants, and I'm pretty sure manufacturers would not want to risk making a thick phone just so you can put Xenon in it and then struggle to sell it. (although I myself would want one even if it's slightly thicker)

Hopefully new leaks will still come by next year we're starting to make wishlists.

For Sony's unfortunately, until they put their sh*t together, if initially it gets a mediocre or a bad display, bad imaging software, mediocre battery life for a big-ass battery, fingerprint-friendly and easy-scratch glass/stickers, and all the other problems Sony has not resolved yet, don't expect it to be much better for the next batch or with the updates. So, if you really want a high-end, no compromise phone from Sony, wait another year or 6 months.

Come on, guys. The camera on Z1 is disappointing relative to the hype it has gotten. While I agree it's the best camera on an Android smartphone in terms of producing natural colors and white balance in good lightning conditions, it's downright mediocre in low light conditions, HDR mode, and Panorama shots.

Sony needs to get its shit together, and come up with a promising camera. Better image processing algorithm, Xenon Flash and OIS are just an obvious additions in order to achieve that.

You are absolutely right about that. I have a Xperia ZR and inspite of having a 13MP camera. The same that the Z had. The low light or even no light shots are less than mediocre. You can easily make out the pixellation and non smooth picture. It's not something that can be expected from a Sony Flagship.

In sharp comparison the Nokia Lumia and HTC 4MP Ultra-pixel were way out of the league when it comes to image quality. They are one of the best out there. And I certainly don't think that merely Carl-Zeus lenses are solely responsible for there better image quality. Samsung and Apple both use Sony sensors in there mobiles and still manage to do a better job then Sony itself. That's something that is quite alarming.

The biggest problem is the image processing algorithm. In terms of hardware, the S4 and iPhone 5 are inferior to even the Xperia Z (the Z1 has a stacked and much bigger sensor, so that one is only second to 808 and 1020), yet these two manage to outperform it. The only explanation is better algorithms, Xperia supress too much detail to keep images clean and then compresses them way too much to keep the size down, despite having plenty of memory. Heck, the Z burst mode improves the quality because it has no time to perform the agressive noise suppression algorithm.
And the good news is, with RAW support in future android versions, this will be solved even for old models (Z,T,S ...) making sony competitive again.

Look what a found, a new page on JDI's official site appeared, "For Smartphone, Tablet" listing all their available displays lineup - appareantly JDI DOES have 5.2 inch display on their lineup: http://www.j-display.com/english/product/mobile.html
"Diagonal 13.2cm(5.2-inch) 1080 × (RGB) × 1920 FHD 424ppi LTPS"
this evidence makes the rumors more real, i suppose the "Z2" is going to get a good treat when it comes to the display this time.
"Diagonal 15.0cm(5.9-inch) 1080 × (RGB) × 1920 FHD 373ppi LTPS" goes for next Z Ultra? more pocketable.
"Diagonal 10.9cm(4.3-inch) 720 × (RGB) × 1280 720HD 341ppi LTPS " - is this the display of the Z1 mini that was showed in a pic recently next to the Z1?
more info on that page.

are you counting on Sony finally go with single source for parts?

Posted by hihihans
Try to find Aladiddins lamp and maybe your wish becomes truth.

Posted by DACHA
@ supercoolman

Sony will use two sources for displays but there will be no difference in quality. No more display lottery from Sony!

Posted by supercoolman
@DACHA
did you mean multiple sources within JDI or JDI+non-JDI?

Posted by amirprog
@supercoolman
Yes, i'm hoping for a single source since JDI is part Sony and they are always expanding since they started to manufacture displays. maybe JDI is still not big enough to manufacture all of sony's displays and they are also selling displays to apple (and other companies?).
@DACHA
nice to know, but if the two resources are two different display manufacturers, then how come no difference in quality this time?
are the other big mobile companies have more then one resource for display panels like sony? i don't recall HTC, samsung, etc. users complaining about the same device with to different displays qualities.

All major OEMs that use LCD panels have panel lottery. Be it HTC, LG or Apple.

Sony’s S-Master audio chip not heading to an Xperia any time soon

I think it was last year when talks about the next Xperia flagship having an S-Master audio chip started...

So, I think Sony being really stricter now is good for the company. No more false infos and high hopes for the next phones, although bad for the thread .

If the really wanted they could. I would probably kill their stand alone walkmans though. To be successful you cant be afraid to cannibalize your own sales with new products. Steve Jobs knew this and criticised Sony for not knowing it in his biography

Posted by Ambroos
It's a different problem. The whole S-Master system is quite complex and big. It requires a pretty large change in the underlying Android system structure, there's a big hardware footprint in terms of die size and power consumption and the difference in audio quality is not relevant for the vast majority of smartphone owners. You need some serious headphones to hear the difference. I have a Walkman with an S-Master and some pretty expensive reference IEMs and the difference between the two is small already. There's a bit more definition and dynamic range on the Walkman but I don't think I'd want to sacrifice size and battery life on my phone to gain that little in audio quality.

In addition to that it's much harder to shield it all properly in a phone with mobile connections. WiFi doesn't interfere as much.

Posted by redhotiron
OH Man!
There were some people who wanted Sony to develop a Windows phone going forward on this thread itself.
And today I got to know that windows phone don't even support the basic feature such as a file manager. Not even a 3rd party app can access anything on the SD card other than it's own format like 'Pdf, doc etc.
Just visit a windows mobile site and there would be a whole bunch of people complaining about the same. I m amazed how Windows was able to hide such an important fact from all the people. I guess huge marketing does make a difference and goes a long way in fooling people around into buying an broken Windows OS.

Even the response from Microsoft officials is pathetic to say the least. They don't provide the API for that because according to them it's a security hazzard. And some stupid users do agree with the BS from Microsoft. They claim that nobody needs a file manager and WIN 8 mobile already manages the files automatically. And this Win OS is for people who don't need a 'File manager'.

Retard company with retard users, I tell U!

I love Android. Nothing comes close to it !

Posted by hihihans
@redhotiron. That's why I changed to Android. For normal use Windows Phone is a great OS but if you want it to be more of a pocketsize PC it fails.

Anyone have any info on the new Xperia Tablet?
What is the estimated price & release date?
Something like, $500, Summer 2014??

Posted by Xajel
I want integrated Pedometer in future Xperia devices

Posted by Ricky D
@gloomy

I'd expect the next 10" tablet from Sony to release along the same price, time and schedule as the Tablet Z did in 2013. [pure speculation]

Posted by XperiaJunkie
On the tablet side of things what are the chances of Sony using the newly developed 4K 12.1 inch display by JDI in the next Xperia tablet is it possible we can see this next year or is it still very early doors ?

are you sure it's in mass production yet? I thought samples were just available not long ago.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
^ Not sure about it being in production but if the next Xperia Tablet is due to be released the same time frame as the Tablet Z (May of this year) then I'm sure they can start production in the new year and have enough in time for a May release. This is all guess work to be honest but surely Sony will be considering using that display in the next tablet.

Does anyone know if it is a JDI display used in the Tablet Z ?

Sony announced the tablet z first in january in japan, then for the rest of the world at MWC, then it was only released in may. i wonder what's the point of announcing it 3-4 months before releasing...?

Honestly, i should written different, more of suggesting so the moderators be aware of it. he is/acts like a bot lacking sense of communication but maybe it's not a bot and he sound like that because of his English so i can understand if that is the case. my english is not perfect either.

just my common sense. 5.7" down from 6.44"... more like down to 5.9"-6" which seems to be the new 5" for phablets. i won't be surprised if the note 4 and next xperia z ultra will join the 6" phablets. also, JDI has a new 5.9" available and they are one of sony suppliers and i think that sony will want to differentiate the ultra from the z line that is coming to 5.2"...

Guys

Z1 successor will be named Z1s and it will be appeared at the first half maybe CES
Z2 will be in the second half of 2014
Z2s will be the first half of 2015
Z3 will be in the second half of 2015 and so on

But for the mini and the ultra Will just be with no s

As Z1 ultra, Z1 mini
Z2 ultra, Z2 mini as so on

This is the way the naming will be
For the mini it will take the Z1 name and internals but come with the s

For example Z1 mini will be appeared with Z1s but Z1 mini is simply Z1 internals and Z1s will be with the New 805 sd

The s will maybe turn to be just as upgrade with as the Xperia S and Xperia SL, same external just more and inhanced internals

This information I just got it, from the same source that told me about the Z and ZL in the past

Posted by sami92a
^
Ahh so they are gonna do as Apple is doing with the names and just internal upgrades... But whats with the rumour Dacha told us that Z1 mini won´t use the same internals as Z1 is using?

@maiaramdan
Cool info man, thanks. keep it coming.
good move. i think that this is good for branding and marketing because they release each new flag ship about every half a year so a number change every half a year is way too fast and does not fit that short time frame and will confuse consumers. though it works for apple for annually release but it's reasonable and makes sense i think more then apple name strategy. i think the reason for the S this time is that the Z2 will have more drastic changes, like that JDI W-RGB OLED panel, wireless charging, 64 bit snapdragon, a design change, and maybe the new thin xenon chip, and who knows what. but i have no doubt that the Z1s will be a great upgrade from any phone older then the Z1, like Z, HTC one, S4, etc...
i wonder what the S stands for to sony. for apple it's "Speed" right?

i think you want to criticize sony for releasing a new flagship every half a year then their "s" name choosing because S name is a result of the short time frame...
the only wrong thing i find about the "s" is a lack of naming originality.

so only one ultra and mini per year!

also seams like less mid range and low range in the second half of this year so maybe they will mainly be released first half of the year.

I'm glad though if there are less devices made per year so more effort can be put into a few really great devices. I think sony would also make more money that way because each product would be for sale for longer.
