More info please!

I dont have any doubt that Sony design team will deliver another beautiful device. Most Sony phones were labeled ugly based on the leaked pics but turned out to be beautiful.
Any leaks about hardware upgrade and improvements?

We where expecting new design !!! we dont see that in those leaked pic thats why we are all crying here

I'm not worried about the design at all, but I'm sincerely worried about specs

Specs are confirmed nothing latest. Why aren't u worried about design aren't u bored of same old design.

Posted by DexterMoser
I think the design will be ok, that leak doesn't show much of the new design, considering most of the changes will be on the side and back. There's not so much to design on the front.
But same specs (S801 3GB RAM and so on) would be very boring.
Design is subjective, specs not.

I just have to ask now since you updated your reply. Are these devices in any way representative of the Z3 or its mini variant? Or are they something else?

EDIT.

And for the hell of it, I did a comparison to the Z2, assuming both devices have the same screen size:

I think its better if they dont give us a new design for Z3 as Z4 is goona have a huge upgrade it will be smart for sony to even upgrade Z4 design.I hope this is what sony is thinking.

Different people have difference opinion in design but in terms of usability this design looks superior compared to g3 like design because of 2 things:
1. more comfortable grip in landscape mode.
2. the device will stay slim even if you apply front and back tempered glass and/or a case.

not one high end phone with all the bells and whistles and internals can have a design with both small top-bottom-side bezels and slimness. not possible. just look at the fully leaked iphone 6 design - it's bezel to display ratio is actually bigger then z3's: http://www.gsmarena.com/iphon[....]esign_rumor_says-news-8904.php and it's not likely to have z3 features that take internal space like stereo speakers, waterproofing, big battery, big camera sensor, etc.

Galaxy S5 Mini announced with IP67 but WITHOUT protective cover over the USB port!

I hope this feature, which has been available for a while in Japan, makes it way to more devices in Europe. I hope to see it starting with the Z3/Z3c.

Any rumours on that?

Posted by miromiromi
i'm not sure if i like that idea.

if we forget to remove water that may have remained within the concealed areas of the port, that will be a problem when we connect the device to our computers or worse, chargers.

it's ok for the headphone jack because it's easier to clean and the device attached to it is not connected to AC or a high voltage power source. it's a different case with USB ports.

I think the picture is a representation of what might happen if you plug something into the still wet USB port.

It is actually an interesting question and I would just assume that the manufacturer has thought about that beforehand or there is a warning included, something like "Don't use the port within 30 minutes of contact with water"

Posted by amirprog
Improper use of the user is a bad excuse not to add waterproof usb or other x feature. i'm sure and hope it becomes a standard in sony's high end devices starting from z3 and z3c. less flaps = better.

Posted by vivftp
Hmm, so anyone speculating on whether the Z3 or its compact variant will have wireless charging?

xperia z3 compact looks amazing. It's hard to see how big the bezels are in that picture but I hope the overall size is similar to z1c

Posted by stook
Z3c should be xa 4.7" and same size as Z1c but thinner and front is not black on coloured versions
I will get more info end of this month

recent rumors regarding display size of z3 compact says 4.5"-4.6". But as long as it keeps its compact form factor I'm fine with 4.7"
A bigger replaceable battery and I would definitely consider it as my next device.

Replaceable battery is highly unlikely.

4.7 inch screen in the Z1c's body size would be outstanding though. If only the software was as good as that of a nexus device or the Moto X.

Software is the only area where Sony is lacking.
Updates to new android versions take far too long for such a supposedly "light" skin, which makes me think bk they make far too many changes under the hood, than is perhaps necessary.

Also the lack of support for devices older than the latest flagship. Seriously, the Xperia T, TX and V is still stuck on 4.3, while the older Samsung GS3 has been updated to 4.4 already. Not to mention that it's almost just as old as the Xperia S, though the use of an older chipset is to blame for why it's stuck on 4.1. Another example is my Xperia L still stuck on 4.2 while the lower-specced with the same chipset and just a few months newer God damn Xperia M got updated to 4.3 last April.

Like I said, Sony needs to step up and update the Z line (Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z) to the Android L. And not do a shitty release, like the first JB update to the XS. Something well done. I mean, even Asus updated their Padfone 2 from 4.1.2 directly to 4.4.2.
There's a catch, though: The Padfone 2 was released in December 2012, and the latest update it had, was released in the same month (4.1.2 update).

And, the Nexus 4 will also have the Android L update, and it has basically the same specs (albeit the lower resolution), so there's no excuse for "Qualcomm didn't released drivers for this processor" like with the XS.

About the Galaxy S5 Mini and the USB thingy, in this aspect, Samsung always has the lead. They were the first to have an uncovered headphone jack (Galaxy S4 Active), and after almost 6 months later, Sony with the Z1. Now, (maybe) the same with with the Galaxy S5 Mini. Sony might release the Z3 with an uncovered USB port.

Samsung was not the first to announce wp hp jack and exposed wp usb. z ultra had already wp hp jack. it was announced at the same time of s4 active - june. sony already have wp usb device on the market announced in january, the smartband.
@vivftp
my speculations/expectations for z3 and z3c aside of the already rumored spec:
exposed wp usb 3.1 type c , wireless charging built in, two tone dual led, minimum 32gb storage, higher quality front facing camera, an option to enable both speakers for ringtones and notifications. anything else will be a surprise.

That would be great, but I think it`s almost impossible to fit 4.7" screen in 64mm wide body with IP rating... it may be 4.55" screen as of Xperia T. But if Sony manage to do this it will be one hell of the device. Definitely my next device! Can`t wait for more news...

Anybody noticed that the big power button and other buttons are missing on the leaks.
So they are maybe integrated flat on the side or on the back (like LG G2/3)?

@Zuckabaecka

Those leaked pics were just showing the front panel of each device and not the fully assembled device.

Samsung is not the first when it comes waterproof headphone jack and usb port its been a while in japan for example some kyocera phones has been using waterproof headphone jack and USB port even before Galaxy S4 Active and Sony smartband also using waterproof usb port.

For me i prefer waterproof port + flaps because it will make the phone looks seamlessly and prevent some dust collecting inside the port.
But i hope Sony would improve magnetic connector by adding more pins for data syncing.

My post was kinda badly written. I meant to say they were the first to introduce in a mainstream (that isn't sold only in one place) phone, not the technology itself. My bad. But, still.

After all its better than Samsung'or Lg's or HTC's crap mini versions
Atleast sony puts Flagship specs on Mini as compared to Samsung crap etc...etc.etc
Not only specs
But also camera

Esato was founded in the year 2001 and was mainly targeted at Sony Ericsson mobile phone users. We started with a couple of services offering free ringtones, grayscale logos for the Ericsson T39 and R520 models. We have expanded the service to include free color backgrounds for over 50 mobile phone models. Other popular services are the discussion forum for anyone interested in topics about mobile phones and accessories. Even if the focus was targeted at Sony Ericsson owners, we now have separate forums for owners of other brands. The most popular sections are the News, Blog, discussion forum, Free themes, free color backgrounds and a service where users can upload images from a PC and download a converted image down to their mobile phone.

Z3 C Confirmation is 3G RAM 1080P 4.6“
Not what they say 720P 2G RAM 4.5! !

Now that would be true high end compact device!
Anything about Z3?

JDI websites shows 4.7" inch display, logically how would it matches with the Z3C rumours?

There are various possible reasons for that.
4.6" is maybe without on screen buttons or the z3c display isn't from JDI or one of the sources is wrong. Decide yourself.

I trust huiyi, too. But only because IF he's wrong that would mean the Z3 Compact is dead on arrival...

That hints to a 2K Display for Z3

unlike latest rumors that hinted at a 1080p

Posted by JohnnyNr.5
3GB RAM and 1080p display sounds nice, but you forget the main selling point of the Z Compact, its compact size! I don't believe that Sony will jump from 4,3" straight to 4,6" and make the device bigger. Keeping the size of Z1C, but fitting in a slightly bigger display sounds reasonable.
[ This Message was edited by: JohnnyNr.5 on 2014-07-03 13:46 ]

Why bigger? You can put a 4,6" display in the compact. There is a lot space...

Posted by amirprog
@JohnnyNr.5
A slightly bigger compact will not hurt sales at all like a bigger iphone won't hurt sales at all, plus, size is a relative thing and there is no true competitor for the compact. their true problem in increasing sales is non existing marketing, worldwide availability and carriers support.
@DexterMoser
i'm sure one of the sources is wrong. most likely 4.7"...

JDI do have a 2K screen in which they say will be released in 2014 so maybe the Z3 will have a 5.5 2K display same as the LG G3
http://www.j-display.com/english/news/2014/20140327.html

Posted by HxH
Adreno 330 is perfectly match with 1080p overall experience & performance, 2K will have too load on it hardware which would suffer in long run.

Posted by XperiaJunkie
Personally I'm not a fan of 2K screens on small devices due to battery performance being affected. I tested the LG G3 in my store on full brightness with only a 1080p video on loop without any other apps running in the backrgound and the battery was down to 4% in just over 4 hours and 32 minutes. A Z2 however with the same 1080p video on loop lasted just shy of 7 and half hours again on full brightness with no other apps running in the background.
