GSMarena is claiming this is the Xperia G

@ascariss
That's a good bet. they should be able to squeeze a bit of space for slightly bigger display for the next compact or make the phone a bit taller but with thinner profile and display panels themselves always get smaller and thinner. maybe in the end the compact line will end at 5" and sony will make a super compact line to have 4 highend sizes: super compact, compact, flagship, ultra. who knows.
@josephnero
cool.

maybe it will be called T2

Posted by CrownedAkuma
Well guys I had my moto G for a week... I'm really happy with it... I bought it as a placeolder till Sirius, Z2 or whatsoever I'll buy in the future... but for his price of 200 euro is was really a bargaign... it's my first android eexperience after 5 years of iphone 3GS and it's like night and day (for options, personalization...) surely the iPhone (at least till the iOs 5) was MORE stable... but it's not even comparable for potentiality and possibilities... SO HAPPY

Also in the last month I tried various devices... HTC One, Xperia Z1 and Z, Samsung S4 and Note II all borrowed for an evening or so thanks to friends and relatives... all phones were used for at least one month... and for for I saw... samsung was the One lagging more, it was ridicoulous compared to HTC One and the Z1... the Z also has some lags and the G2 just a few... but HTC One and Z1 were incredibily fast and responsive
HATS to Sony and even more to HTC for their softwares
for me in the future it will be just Sony or HTC...! Absolutely!

New Xperia G picture has leaked on Xperia Blog.

Posted by -XYZ
We know.

Posted by Tejstar
I haven't seen anyone mention the second picture that also lists the specs: 4.8-inch display, 8MP camera, 8GB storage.

You say you know - but who has mentioned it?

Thanks for the info
Seems like a mid range... nothing special... something similar to the Z a bit downgraded!

Here's zomgs post on the Xperia G

Xperia G

http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/02/14...new-pic-leaks/

"Vizileaks has given a few details on the specs. He confirms the slightly smaller-than-Z1-chassis fits a 4.8-inch display (no word on resolution, but as a mid-ranger 720p is likely). He suggests other features to include an 8MP camera, 1GB RAM, LTE, 8GB internal storage and microSD memory card slot."

To add to that, I have a price. $299, £229, €279 offline. Sony's answer to both the Moto G and X. Sucks about the 1GB RAM though, but I suppose 4.4 is better optimised for less RAM. Same size as the Xperia Z so it should have a mega battery. It's this year's Xperia SP.

Posted by itsjustJOH
^Price suggests that it is the next Xperia L.

Edit: That is the next Xperia SP, if you consider the Euro and Pound pricing. It should be $399, I only looked at the dollar price since I knew the exchange rate.

@vivftp
That sounds fine, thanks viv.
But I am wondering why sony is only releasing phones with S800 and S400 SoC. please, Could you ask to zomg if sony will use the S600 Soc, or Are they going to use the previous Z series (ZL,Z,ZR) as Mid-High end phones... Thank you

I'd say SD600 is pretty high end still, and i think Sony haven't bought any SD600.

I think I've already seen a comment about that mentioning something like that there won't be any Sony with S600.

Posted by itsjustJOH
^Yes, though I don't remember if it's ramu or someone quoted zomg. But I know that he, whoever said it, said that there will never be a S600 for 2013. Indeed, there were no S600 device, but who knows for 2014.

Exactly

Stop this bullshit.

SD600 (APQ8064T) is just a f**kin modified version of S4 Pro (APQ8064) chip (that's mean no modem integrated), nothing more and it aged now even for mid-end product.

Latest SD400 chipset should have close or equal performance (Based on upgraded Krait 300 hardware) and overall better efficiency with newer LTE integrated modem.

I thought the 600 also features krait300? but has 4 cores instead of 2 like in the SD400. As for the 400, not all variants features the krait 300 core, some have krait 200 and not 300. Perhaps the absence of the a cellular modem as you mention, is why sony didn't choose the 600 over the 400? Probably cost might be another factor as well? Just posting what is on the qualcomm site, nothing more.

http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/400
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/600

Quad ARM® Cortex™ A7 CPU at up to 1.6GHz per core

Dual core Krait 300 CPU at up to 1.7GHz per core

Dual core Krait 200 CPU at up to 1.2GHz per core

LP-DDR2 and LP-DDR3 memory for high performance and low latency

Then there is the GPU, with the 600 featuring the faster 320 vs 305/306

For a long run support, not everyone can/will do a customized software at it own risk.
I think Sony keen to avoid a tragedy case of Xperia S, that didn't have essential driver support long enough.

Performance is key to considers but not everything.

You think Sony give OIS in Z2/Z3 (flagship 2H2014)?

Posted by DexterMoser
^Just my educated guess here, I don't see any possibility of an OIS in Z2/3 or whatever else comes in 2014.
Why?
OIS would very likely result in a bigger camera modul, Sony won't do a omnibalance design with a hump. Another reason is in video mode Steady Shot works very well, so OIS would be more or less useless. Only thing OIS could improve would be lowlight, but Sony's approach would be a slightly bigger sensor for example.
At least zomg was talking about that and early rumors from Ramu also mentioned 1/2 inch prototypes, so this will be the way to go.
OIS is not always good, if there are some movements in the picture, it will cause blurriness. Reviews of the G2 also reported that in images in stills caused some blurr. A faster lens, sensor with higher sensitivity and/or bigger sensor would be better in such cases.

They need to fix the goddamn auto-focus.
My Z1 Compact often takes far too long to search for focus, while the iPhone I have access to is much quicker.
There is also the issue that he iPhone takes much more accurate pictures in low-light. Yes the pictures have much, MUCH more noise, but the colour is closer to what my eyes can see.

Also Manual mode needs to have a few more options and the controls should be much more immediate, I don't like having to search through menus to change the ISO or metering.

EDIT:
Also, Sony can just make the overall phone thicker and add more curves for ergonomics. Sony have no problem with having their phones be 8 or 9+mm thick. Heck the Z1 compact is 9.6mm thick, which isn't exactly what you'd consider obese for a phone.

Also, the LG G2 manages to fit an OIS module into a relatively thin body. And the blur is probably due to poor software, which keeps the shutter open too long and over-exposes the image, in brighter conditions. In low-light, a combination of a bigger sensor and OIS, would be incomparable.
Also, while Steady Shot is good, in Video mode, it crops the image and decreases the natural field of view. OIS would ensure that this isn't required, while also providing excellent stabilisation.

I don't have idea about implemented OIS in Sony devices right now, maybe it not worthwhile if Nokia didn't give other manufacturers licenses out the advanced 3-axis OIS. (plus if they would allow Sony someday I would like to see include of Scalado camera techniques as well).

2-axis OIS not very useful as advertise, that's why G2 (quoted as main selling point) is already down in miserable and rearrange G3 schedule up in May. And they add more value by change it name to OIS Plus, that's kinda funny as hell.

.........

waterproof antenna is thicker than usually hardware one, The Z, Z1 and Z Ultra is probably used one of most advanced antenna to date (my assume), recently I read that Samsung is already order waterproof antenna for their upcoming devices as well (maybe Galaxy S5 Active).

iRimas just posted a new video where he says it features all the new Kitkat 4.4.2 features

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZpTvvo43DU&feature=youtu.be

As of this posting, it's still being processed by Youtube

Posted by rickrz
video is already removed :/

Posted by vivftp
I wonder why he changed his mind. Maybe he decided he didn't want to spoil all of Sonys surprises?

I suppose it's also possible something in the video might have helped to identify him or the person who gave him the phone, so he had to remove it, lol

EDIT.

Ahh, iRimas updated his XDA post to say the video is now coming soon

So thin!!!! I hope for it not to have megabezels ahahahaha

BTW downloading the video from iRimas now and watching it when I'm back home

^ why do u need tiny bezels? One handed use? LOL Tablet should not has tiny bezels because it's not suitable for tablets and the display will crack easily if it has tiny bezels

I was expecting something better from Sony, but let's add 1gb of ram, new cpu and make it thinner! That will win them over! Addition of kitkat is nice but it had to arrive with it seeing as the reset of the tablets at the show that will be announced should have kitkat.

I was ironic...! I was talking about MEGAbezels like 5 cm of bezels!
Tablets need some bezels imho, for handling and design!:)
If not how could people take shots with their lovely tablets???

BTW just seen the Sirius D6503 video! On the way to university I was stuck in the traffic jam
The Screen looks delightful, big with great black/whites/viewing angles...! I wanted to see more about What's New and Lifelog but he showed just some bits of them... I would to ask him to launch something like Ace's High (metal) or Better, Faster, Stronger (electronic) at full volume to hear the audio quality/quantity!!!
It has TVsideview so will every D6503 (not only Japan) have IR blaster (it would be lovely :3 )
The bezels seems in line with the Xperia Z.. Slimmer on the sides, nothing awesome on top and bottom, but I like it that way:) so far so good!

Posted by Gitaroo
really wish it comes with tegra K1, but that won't be ready until H2 probably. I want a tablet with amazing screen that can stream 10bit MKV full HD video, S800 can't handle it unfortunately.

Posted by motvikt
Nice hope the new tablet is cheaper

Posted by itsjustJOH
Ouch, no 2K?

Posted by Away
Was writing a long, negative comment, but deleted it.

How can we say anything until we know if the display is IGZO or a similarly efficient one, and the tonnes of software and even some hardware features that should come with it?

It should be lighter too, which should get the lightest 10 inch tablet crown back from the only tablet which came near to it's predecessor last year, and is genuinely important.

Posted by HxH
Can you understand that IGZO technology still did not have acceptable yield-rate (just yet)?

And Tegra chipset (again), don't you have read the news that HTC complaint about lacks of support from NVIDIA (for essential drivers), so they can't make One X (Tegra 3 chipset) upgrade into Kitkat.

Posted by Ricky D
If that tablet carries an alu frame like the Z1 I'm 100% sold.

Posted by Away
Can you understand the iPad Air has an igzo display? Can you understand that if the cost of the product is in the highest tier, then the quality of the components as well a the overall experience must be the best? Can you understand that means Sony shouldn't be cheap with the display? (They weren't last year with the tablet display, but we need significant battery improvements yearly).

Posted by goldenface
Cant wait to see pictures of the new Tablet but how much different can it be from the current one.

Faster, thinner, lighter, better battery. What else? Better screen?
