I used mine with the keyboard at first, but now i have taken it off, i don't think i will use it again....

what about you guys?

First i took it off, but after a month i put it back on because it stays locked (when you open the flip to use PDA functios & close it again it is locked) also it`s easy to get speakerphone active with one hand.
In fact although it doesn`t look so nice, i can`t see me using it without flip much.

I took mine off for about 10 minutes and decided I prefer to keep it on for some of the reasons pachy has given and also it protects half the screen directly and probably alot of the rest of the screen indirectly.

well at the moment mine is on but hey i have the phone from friday ill still have to try it for the whole day without it to see whats the prefered metod for me .

I`m still not sure the flip offers a higher level of protection, because some of the cracked screens on esato are the result of pressure, pushing one off the keypads little metal pins hard onto the screen, easily breaking it.
Often that same pressure if applied to a naked screen would not be concentrated on a tiny pin & would be spread over a larger area not breaking the screen. (this is just my theory).
A good example of this is Police records showing the favored tool of the average young thief caught stealing from cars is in fact a coin, when sharply struck against a car door window will very easily break toughened glass because of the tiny concentrated pressure.

I have never removed the keyboard for many reasons mentioned above. To be able to use it with one hand, protect the screen, lock the keyboard when the flip is closed and so on.

I hv it off..
I use the lil bag that came with it as my protector..

I switched a lot times.
But now I use it with the keyboard on it, because I can`t find my clickon thing anymore (I think I lost it)

I removed the keypad after 5 minutes. Saves me 10 gr
The only problem I have is to open and close the virtual keypad. It would be great if I could do that with som special jog-dial combination.

When I first got the phone, I removed the flip. However, I started thinking about what happened to another P800 user here in ESATO who whacked his P800 screen and put the flip/keypad back on to protect the screen. However, when I am flying/in a plane, I remove the flip. Less questions that way. Nobody questioned me so far (was in Flight Mode of coz). :-D

Im much more comfortable with the keypad on. And much more at ease wen its in my pouch. For those who likes the keypad off, I suggest you buy the Nite Ize cel pouch. The medium one. A very good heavy duty pouch. You can even put in your extra battery.

I have ued it with keypad on for the first week and then decided to remove it and I love it this way? It looks and feels thinner and much more sofisticated, people keep wondering what is that

with ... to protect the screen!

well to support the theory of the flip making it unsafe we know that:

pressure = force per area

so if the contact with the screen is smaller and the force is the same then there will be more pressure on the screen than if the contact with the screen was spread out.

i have a little piece of plastic over my screen for protection and if the screen breaks i will have a new one cos i have insurance; haha

One could remove the buttons from the flip....
This would of course ruin the flip..
How much does a flip cost?
One could cut of the pins. That way it would at least look intact..

i use mine without a keypap, i put brandon protective plastic on the screen.

just reviving this topic coz i asked the same question on my forum and the answer came back without which suprised me

just removed the flip and TBH prefer it on so i'm going to put it back. too scared i'll break the screen without it even though there is the flip pin problem, but surely that would be covered under warranty anyway as a build fault rather than using insurance if it broke.

I'm using mine with the flip, for protection of course.

A second reason is that when you make a call with the flip removed the screen gets really dirty from touching the skin.

I actually like the look with the keyboard on, makes it easier to use one handed & does help protect the screen (but I do handle it with much love & care )

I have mine P800 from december, and did use it with the keypad, but with the long time of use with the keypad, u will get some scratch from the key, for example you press alot of buttion 2, the u will get the scratch under it. I perfer to use it without keypad. and buy a screenprotector, The best way to protect screen

I tried it without the keypad for a day but found the virtual keypad annoying. Although the P800 looks far better without the flip, like others I think it provides a small degree of protection and like the fact that I know it's locked when I close the flip.

I prefer flip on, but oftentimes when interacting with the phone i find myself wishing i could remove the flip, then again, IMHO the phone just looks cooler with it's flip on.

Flip off.I can text even inside the bank because security guards don't know what this is without a flip..They'll never ask me to turn off my cellphone before entering again!!Hehehe
