Wow i´m really confused about this "One Sony Honami"...

Posted by randomuser
One Sony = Honami, as I've said numerous times in the past. There are no two separate phones - one sony and honami. One sony is just a term used to refer to the phone like Ray 3, phablet etc.

It saddens me that you sources say no xenon flash. I was REALLY hoping we would finally see it in a Sony top end phone. Still hopeful that we'll see it

The info about the 1/1.6" sensor is very nice to hear though... it's a frickin' monster compared to the previous sensors Sony has used.

I don't suppose there's any word about OIS showing up for the camera though, is there?

Maybe the 'mysterious device' that Random was talking about is the Xperia that have snapdragon clocked at 2.0 ghz, 16mp camera and a 2650 mah battery. The One Sony aka Honami will have 20mp camera, snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3 ghz and a 3000 mah battery IMO

Posted by randomuser
^

NO. Simply because the specs of the mystery device are not finalized yet. It's not even in Alpha stage. It may be cancelled as well

And seems like S800 will be clocked at 1.7ghz on both phablet and one sony. Same with LG Optimus G2. Apparently battery life is affected @ 2.3ghz so all manufacturers are sticking to 1.7ghz clock.

ALSO

C360X is cancelled apparently

It's not like you really need the darned thing to run at 2.3GHz anyways for stellar performance. I'd much rather sacrifice that performance boost for better battery life anyways.

So ramu, your sources mention anything about the xenon flash?

Posted by randomuser
Yes but don't have 100% confirmation yet.

Though it most likely will, when you have a HUGE sensor it is OBVIOUS that Xenon flash WILL be included.

Posted by vivftp
Excellent! So I'll get Honami and sell my RX100

Well, it seems that July will be the announce window for Japan at least for some of these things. Are we now expecting Togari and Honami to both show up at that event? If so, I'm wonder if we'll see the watch and net tablet there too, or if they'll wait for IFA for that.

Posted by jianlin
i hope the 7 inch xperia tablet use s800 at full clock though...
btw d last SE phone use xenon flash is satio i guess.

Don't worry about flash. It will have a powerful flash, Xenon or not. They might use Plasma Flash as well, which was used in Japanese Cybershot cameras.

Although, you shouldn't believe my "fantasies" you know

Ramu stop with your day dreams and give us facts!!

Heh, xenon, plasma... as long as it's a helluva lot better than standard LED flashes I'm good. BTW, which Cybershots had a plasma flash?

On a side note, how the hell does Sony manage to make something like this that's waterproof down to 16 feet and also drop proof to 5 feet, but the phones can't do that? Funny enough though, the sensor in that handycam is 1/3.91" which is even tinier than the Xperia Z, let alone the rumored sensor on the Homani.

I just can't understand how a phone with such large sensor will be thin, it's a fact that with current technology you can't have a large sensor with slim profile unless when you use mechanical lens assembly like point and shoot cameras...

and having such a mechanical thing will mean much slower first shot...

The Pureview 808 was 13.9mm, so if the Homani is roughly 10mm give or take, it's easily plausible for it to have a sensor like that. If it's Exmor RS, then it's very easily possible.

Posted by randomuser
Okay jianlin, here you go. Xperia Z sensor inside 808's. It's just a tiny dot

Might use for 4k output, just check s800 features in youtube,it has true dts 7.1 surrouns sound(for got naming) and continuous voice recognition always on with true tracking for video

Posted by jianlin
necessary for tech geeks..haha
y nokia din use android if not...nice competition with sony..haha

Posted by randomuser
Here's a better comparison.

Posted by randomuser
I think why I and most people refer to it as One Sony is because it's the first phone that follows One Sony approach. And also it's a series of phones. One Sony 1 = Honami and in 2014 there will be One Sony 2.

hence the use of the "nickname"

Hey, everyone else is doing a comparison so here's one including the RX100

I really do wonder if we'll see the RX100 sensor in a phone next year.

I'm not gonna argue too much cause it's irrelevant but 'One Sony' is the strategy in which Kaz Hirai tries to turn SONY into profability and bringing the company together as a whole. I just wanted to simplify so that we talk about the phones by the work names not by some strategic philosophy!

So bro you mean Ray 3 /Xperia Dogo / Honami are all comes under One Sony.

No. For this year only honami comes under one sony.

jianlin, I think I posted that a few pages back. It's similar or more than HTC One's.

Don't worry, HTC One camera stands no where near Honami in ANY scenario.

Pureview 808 is the ONLY competition for Honami. Also Nokia EOS. EOS may have similar sensor size as Honami.

good...d htc one 4mp suck in detailed image...

If Honami does not sport xenon flash, you guys should not be disappointed. Next year, we may see a thin smartphone, in general, with xenon flash as researchers have developed thin capacitor which is roughly 1 mm thick. We should not be sad but look ahead in a brighter future. There is a high chance this would end up in One Sony devices next year or in the future.

Here's the link for the new capacitor:

Will One Sony has OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) ?
I really want a fast, stable camera, hope Sony can do it.
P.S. I tried Pureview 808 before, it's image is excellent, however, the speed of camera is quite slow.

Posted by sighduck
Why are the sensors in the diagrams round? Sensors are not round like the lenses...

Posted by randomuser
Just for illustrative purpose.

@geniusming

I will post it here if I come to hear anything on OIS. So far I haven't.

… plus I'm lazy

Honami should have an amazing camera since Sonys imaging division is in control of it. So excited!

So One Sony will be nowhere near the fastest phone as it seems that Note 3 will decimate it specs.

Very disapointing!

What?

Note 3 stands nowhere near Honami. Exynos Octa is barely faster than S600. Even 1.7ghz can handily beat 2 ghz Exynos Octa. And the GPU on S800 is 2x faster than Exynos Octa.

Thought only Nokia had a partnership with Carl Zeiss for its lenses/sensors? Would be awesome though if Sony had that in one of its phones. Would they be using the best of the best C.Z. sensor/lense, or something fairly high spec nonetheless?

Too bad SONY can't use it because it's exclusive for Nokia smartphones only

Ex Octa barely faster than S600!? Oh c'mon man, Ex Octa scores 5000 points higher on AnTuTu! That's not barely.

So Ex Octa scores 28.000 points with a 1.6 Ghz cloack. The Korean version with it's 1.8 ghz/per core should go pass 30.000 points and Note 3 with 2 Ghz will be in the realm of 35.000.

So, keeping in mind that S600 with 1.9 Ghz scores 23.000, S800 would have to be 50 percent stronger than S600 to be comparable with Ex Octa and all of that would have to be done with lower core frequency.

Here are some links for the data I used:

http://www.ibtimes.com/samsun[....]-600-according-antutu-1183361#

http://www.sammobile.com/2013[....]ills-qualcomms-snapdragon-600/

0.2ghz clock speed increase doesn't give you 5k extra in Antutu. Get real

2.3ghz S800 scores 34000. 2ghz Exynos will score about 30k and 1.7ghz S800 will also score about the same. In most other benchmarks S800 will be faster than Octa and GPU performance is 2x more.
