Been using iOS for the past 2 years now and seriously considering getting an Android as my next phone when I get my upgrade in July/August.

What are people's experiences from moving from iOS to Android. What do you prefer and what do you miss?

That's a dangerous question, mate, hope you'll get a few useful replies, before the Apple bashers jump onto this thread

I also think about moving to android from ios and probably gonna do that. There are some things needed to know before this decision made.

I know that there aren't as many apps as ios has and both quality and stability of some apps aren't on par with the ones on ios yet. This is also the case for the os itself. I mean ios generally is better when it comes to stability and it operates faster with the same level of hardware. This stability situation is probably caused by the restrictions on ios. Ios deosn't allow you to do even the simplest operations such as setting a ringtone or using bluetooth etc. Also, very simple and non-customizable UI helps ios operate faster and more smoothly.

Even if android os has some disadvantages I am not afraid of them because people love to exeggerate. Some people say very bad things about android and you might think android is the worse os but I've been using a Galaxy S2 which a friend of mine has and I can say that it's not bad at all. It's smooth and apps are almost on par with ios apps. It has hundreds of features thanks to a custom rom. So, I recommend it.

Sorry for my english.

Not always that case

@dizzybee, btw Ive experiences with both ive owned a few Android phones
I enjoyed them tbh there great you have a little more upper hand
with Android then iOS such as ability to customize more eg. Live Wallpapers,
plus Android phones do tend to Download MP3s from third party sites wherea's iPhones
are stuck at iTunes door, coming from a Android phone to a iPhone wasn't difficult for me
the only thing I disliked about my last HTC was the battery life oh and to say it had dust and dead pixels
generally it was a smart decent phone but if you decide on going for a HTC keep this in mind!

I guess the plunder is yours go and play knowbody is gunna batter you about what choice you make

Android phones are really cool, since most of their applications are free and best of all it's open source.

Jailbreak iOS and you have plenty to customize.

iOS is now so looking dated and way behind what Samsung & HTC are doing.

I've used my friends 1st Gen, 3G, 3Gs, 4, and 4s. thanks to that IOS in my very own eyes, is still one of the most consistent UI platform on a smartphone. no bloats, no slowdowns, neither does it look dated. and best of all doesn't need uber hardware just to ensure all apps especially the best of breed games doesn't lag. I love GB and ICS even in their vanilla form, and I'm not one of those iphone fans that always look down at anything that is Android, but I have to admit IOS is truly a good platform, but still my heart belongs to Android - this coming from a user who loves scrutinizing gadgets

Im laughing at Teegees's comment, so true but the same if it was the other way round no matter what hehe!

I have had both sets of os's in my time, iOS is a very good os I have to admit, but thats it really and the apps yes there is plenty but you got to pay for them. I came from Android to iOS and then back to Android.

I highly recommend Android now, why? because Google have finally got it right with their os! GB especially the later 2.3.4 onwards is as smooth as iOS! I was on 2.1 and oh my god its annoying but thats why I tried out iOS and then was amazed how smooth it was. My time with my 3GS was shortlived because I missed my freedom, and really that killed it for me with iOS.

Now with my SE Xperia Neo V it is practically even a little bit better than the iphone 4. Even though poeple find the Xperia Neo V a bit mid range, I personally think its a bloody good phone. The Neo is slightly better with the 8MP camera. I have an 32GB card in mine and booting up from cold after landing on the plane and basically roughly when the airplane staff announce you can switch on your phones, I had 2 people beside me one with the iphone 4s and the SG2 and we all fired up our phones at the same time (they were work colleagues) to see who's was the fastest booting up from cold. Low and behold the little Neo V was first! SG2 was 2nd and the 4s was last. So coming back to the bloatware of Android is non existant because Android loads things in gradually bit by bit not all at once like the iOS.

I would recommend and take the plunge and I wouldnt be surprised (once you get the hang of Android and you will!) you wont go back to iOS!

I had iphone 3g (and gave it to my sis)
And I have Nokia N900 which runs Maemo and also Android (and many more OS'es hehe)
Android seems to slow the device somehow. It's weird to me that in some aspects IOS is faster than Android (iphone is underclocked at 412mhz and nokia is at normal 600 mhz and IOS seems to scroll some menus faster.

both my Androids the more snazzy ones were a little slow at Booting up if I recall
the iPhone is definatly quicker at starting up

glad u pointed that out @ Alenn

Depends on the power inside the Android phone not Android as a whole. Remember HTC does fast boot
