That would tie in with week beginning 5 March, which most stores are quoting.

You don't like anyone with an opinion do you?? I have said all along I like the Xperia S I just don't see a huge improvement in camera department. Don't know how many times I have to say it
Everybody sees XS has a great camera which is quite a big improvement
over Arc, just you don't and that's funny.

@Tspez_Gp,
But Note manages to out do s2 even on quadrant 1.0 !
I have actualy emailed the devs of both apps to find out a little more.
The GNote would out do GS2 either way i guess as its clocked at 1.4GHz.

Isn't that for the white exclusive thou, and also surely that's vs the other operators and not SIM free models?
The more I see these unboxing videos the more I want .

With the Xperia S, the 3D Sweep Multi Angle might make it into the final version of the firmware btw

As per Xperia Blog, Xperia S widgets now available for download onto other Xperia phones.
I've installed the weather widget, calendar and power control on the Arc and they are very smooth. Love the weather one!

@Rog in this video he says that there is NO option for videocalls ... Is this true ??

Posted by mediar
None of the current Xperias has an out-of-the-box option for video calls. Not a big deal.

How would I install that on my Arc S??
Posted by goldenface
Download to pc / laptop and extract the files. Then transfer onto the phone's mem card using PC companion. The using root explorer, locate the files on the card and install them one by one by clicking on them.

I managed to catch the live conference. They just introduced the Xperia P and U only. One thing Steve Walker said that the S can start up camera in 1 second (Hint of better software update?? Lets hope he did not blurt out the wrong info!!~)
Posted by doministry
So it will be mine! 6th of March the latest!
Black one as usual.
Although Xperia P looks very nice too especially with aluminium body,
but the specs of S are top, I just need it.
And huge screen and the camera.... Happy.
And thank you iPhone for beeing so f..ckng expensive!!
I could sell it for more than I buy Xperia S for!
Posted by rickster2kuk
As they mentioned at MWC yesterday that Xperia S is shipping "now" do you think that means stock may be early or still on track for next week?
Agree with you doministry - love the alu body on the P but prefer the high res screen and 12mb camera and dual core.

P and U are also dual core but 1gHz.
I ordered one and it will be here on 5th/6th March.
No chance for earlier, they are probably sent now from the factory, so exactly "shiping now"

I'm really tempted to go for one in white but it would definitely be an extravagance. I don't quite want to give up my PLAY just yet, especially with ICS looming. Otherwise, I'd snap one up - the white version looks great.
Posted by rickster2kuk
I originally was going to have white, had it pre-ordered and then I changed my mind as I think I prefer it black - looks very sleek.
Posted by dibdin
Do both black and white versions have the anti-stain coating?

I think yes, should be obvious.

To be honest I don't feel any urgency for change either.
Arc is so good.
But T-Mobile just gives me new contract with the new device
so I don't pay a penny for that....

Loving the new animated weather widget for new Xperia phones. Got all them new widgets for my Arc S and new music player too
Posted by goldenface
@doministry
Of course if my contract was up then I wouldn't hesitate.
@bono
I tried to install the FBLike app but it didn't work and had to uninstall it but yeah, I'm loving the new widgets too.

No me neither but not a big deal. For some reason though I cannot get the calender one to install

Doministry,
I'm curious about the WLAN radio - hoping support for dual band 802.11N on 5ghz not just 2ghz and ability to use both frequencies simultaneously. Something I've enjoyed on my iphone4/ and now 4S (grey market purchase).
I'll agree with the specs on XperiaS over the luxury of the P. I don't think I could enjoy 80hrs music playback when only 16GB or less (docs, pics, video, apps) taking up some space.

Xperia S supports viewing of 3D photos on its screen ?

Well, Xperia Arc S can do that as well - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj_HW1GVGzg ( 3:30 ).

Sorry to burst your bubble, but according to this http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html, IPhone 4S only supports the 2.4 GHz band for 11n. Same goes for Xperia S according to white paper.
Where have you read IPhone 4S supports 11n at 5 GHz ?

It's called 3d multi angle sweep, and it is not really3d, but it generates a nice illusion if you tilt the phone.
It is actually not available for the arc s btw, that was something which was only enabled on our prototype we had in that other video

I don't know about frequencies........
Anyway S just seems like a top dog.
I just hate non removable battery......
Posted by doministry
But I have a very important question:
since Xperia S doesn't support removable SD cards, does it support the same ways of USB transfers and communication with PC?
And I hope all file management apps will work like before?
Like X-Plore which is just amazing.
Posted by Arne Anka
@doministry
I don't think it should be any difference since it still seems to make use of same interface as ordinary MMC cards.

Thanks for the bubble pop I think. I was under the impression that since my TimeCapsule showed by iPhone 4S as 802.11n 2.4/5Ghz I was using that vs my girlfriends iPhone 4.
At least I have some solace that iP4S has: Assisted GPS and GLONASS like Sony Xperia ION.
Either way ... unless iPad 3 announces something BIG with features that can be better used on iPhone 5/next ... then I feel Android is close to mature enough with Sony's (and previous ) NXT UI that I'll feel less overwhelmed with Settings location and core useful productivity apps that I'm used to on iP4. I can honestly say that Google NEEDS Sony for their unique NXT UI and Media powerhouse.
I'd LOVE to hear news of a Sony based Nexus in generation 4/5 - but ION seems like it'll be it.
Right now I can choose ION/S ... I can use BOTH on all 3 major providers where I live and get full benefit of radios offered; I just need 3 capacitive buttons on iON not 4 (AT&T model).
^ I still cannot find an official picture showing global ION with 3 buttons.
