@doministry I am not endlessly whining I actually like the phone. I am stating on what I see so far that the photos do not look all that amazing as yet. Yes we gotta see the final result but this did happen with the Arc. Although it takes good photos it was not as good as it could have been and photos were not any better on final retail firmware. It's still a lovely phone and you do know I have an Xperia Ray.

Guys...just let bonovox has his words.
After so long reading posts of each individual here, I've learned that...the ONE who whines the most gets it first.

Well it was a statement. Samsung Galaxy sII and note DO use a Sony sensor. IMX105 module to be exact.

With Sony in the driver's seat thankfully the marketing will be much better this year.

15 million pounds to be spent on marketing Xperia S across TV, cinema and billboard advertisements. Of course that figure is only for the UK I believe.

I think they should have made one with a black front but silver back, similar to the Elm.
Or use the black colour on the front (from the white version) and use the white/silver colour on the back from the white version of the phone.

Similar look to the Elm

Not a massive difference between Arc S shots & Xperia S
Posted by rickster2kuk
They look marginally better than the Arc. Colours seem a little less saturated.
I would be interested in more landscape shots and under cloudy conditions.

I'll see what I can do

They're again made to look good on the screen/ bad on 100% crops. Wish they gave some options concerning sharpening levels. Doministry and others will keep saying, that they look so good, but I don't see any progress since satio days. Well, on the other hand, camera quality tends to be less and less important these days and think this will beat lg's and Htc's flagships in camera dept. Personally I just much much more prefer natural output of phones like SGSII and N8, and as a current Neo 8mpix user, it's average camera performance is the reason to go for something else in 2Q 2012.

what's the significance of the piece of bottom part below the transparent lines? its simply adds extra size to the phone. I really don't like that part, which makes the phone bigger. is that removable??

It isn't removable and probably has some components inside of it, most likely to do with various wireless radios and antennae. Otherwise it wouldn't be there, duh.

ya even i thought there should be some components inside but as there's transparent block,i still have a doubt on that.

It has the antennae components inside it. And you can actually see the components if you look closely.

No it will not. Glass is not electrically conductive like the metal body of the iPhone 4 is.

How can you say camera quality is less important when they slap on 12 meg camera with so called HD video quality?? Advertising it as Exmor great in low light which it can be in the right photographers hands. If photography was less important now with manufacturers then they'd put on a 3 or 5 meg camera. I think for many people smartphone cameras are becoming more important and it reflects this in the recent decline in sales of digital cameras.

Why nobody commented on the Xperia S beating N8 in the shootout by dialaphone ?

Reading many of the comments above i'd say the reason is because the people here know exactly what they want out of their phone camera, and one little review wont change that.
motvikt
+1, exactly.

Sorry but a You Tube camera review by Dialaphone is not conclusive
Posted by rickster2kuk
Samples were also way too small to judge on.
Posted by marcink
I wrote it because only mpix number increases, but sensors get smaller and smaller and any fancy exmor-r, etc can barely make up for it. Have you seen any major phone with xenon flash, except for n8, released for 2 years? It's just been the pursuit for thinnest possible with largest possible screen and fastest cpu. Hope that will change this year, as diversifications just begs for some cameraphones. I also liked photo quality of k750i/k770i more than any k800/k850/c902/etc.

If you compare the old K750 and k800/c905 against the current crop of the Xperia series you can see that the newer generation are better and that would be the case with increases in technology.
The X10 was very good, albeit colours were slightly washed, but the compression was good. I have a feeling that Xperia S will be marginally better than Arc but not by a long shot, a probably not as good as SGS2/3. But that is beside the point, I would rather have a rounder package and a less so camera than something that has other elements I'm not happy with.
Only one month to Xperia S and I am getting a little excited.

I would rather trust a photo comparison from GSM Arena than Dial A Phone

Nice enjoy. I am no longer gonna be an early adopter of phones to market. Would rather wait for bugs and prices to be better.
