I though SONY had some Court work pending regarding purchase and to Put SONY Logo on every handset they should finish off the whole paper work first ?? so will they Put / SONY logo??

Posted by NightBlade
True that. I mean, it doe seem doubtful that the phone will be released this soon.

Who knows, perhaps the court has greenlighted the rebranding sooner than expected.

Whats so hurry in launching that phone .. Sounds Hayabusa is coming sooner than we think [with full speed]

Posted by dibdin
I can't see the Xperia S being released till early March at the earliest.

Posted by dibdin
play.com are not the most reliable of sources.

Posted by rickster2kuk
Would be a really shrewd move by SE to get this out early because there is nothing really stopped them (apart from SE rebrand) but as others have said, all signs point towards early/mid March.

Posted by NightBlade
Ugh, I'm really torn apart. I'm sick of Symbian and want to change as soon as possible, but I'm afraid I might miss out on some cool features that might come with Hayabusa (eg. Xenon flash?). Otherwise I'm all for the Xperia S.

You're a strong man NightBlade, you've lasted with Symbian this long???
Treat yourself to that Xperia S man!

Posted by NightBlade
It has been a tough 2+ years...

How on earth did you cope NightBlade, you deserve a long holiday. I owned Satio too and it was far too much like high-maintenance for my liking. The huge amount of RAM should see effortless performance on Xperia S though.

The screen looks amazing too. Here is a list of screen resolutions for comparison: List of displays.

Indeed! Go for the Xperia S NightBlade ... you've suffered LONG enough.

You guys make it sound as though I'm some sort of martyr.

Appreciated.

I'm also with you friend. I'm still using Satio. My Satio got a fever. Lot's of bugs, touchscreen not working properly.

Nice promo video of the Japanese version here.

Posted by NightBlade
And this is the announcement video for the Xperia S... shot with an Xperia S.

Posted by Bonovox
Is that video on the Xperia S in stereo audio or mono?? Awful audio quality sounds muffled

Posted by NightBlade
Noo idea. I doubt it'll be as muffled in the final release.

Who knows, the guy might have been covering up the microphone by accident.

Well, no one expected LCD to have better viewing angles than AMOLED.

Posted by Ravager
the screen looks wonderful !

Posted by Bonovox
Why do you need to view your screen at an angle anyway??

I have a bit of small info...

Xperia S and ION will support Fast Charge... one of the reasons they used the built-in battery is to have the highest capacity with the smallest size they can as replaceable batteries will need more space...

So knew peoples will feels bad about that, so they decided to use a different internal battery design that will allow to safely Fast Charging the phone in the beginning, then it will switch to normal charging speed...

No more info I have ( about times ) but the Fast Charge period should be about 10min... then you will get longer battery life than regular batteries as it will be already have plenty of charge... how much exactly I still don't know...

I don't, but some people still like to complain about it.

UGGGH!! Where is my stereo recording in 44khz?!! Where is my Stereo Speakers on my smartphone - these should be standard by now with a simple yet powerful DSP chip within!!

The new Galaxy Nexus has a great Hi-Q Low Power DAC ! I would be really pissed if they didn't integrate one in the Xperia S.

If the new rumors are true then Sony is really lucky this year that the Xperia S will not have to compete with Samsung Galaxy S3. Apparently Samsung will not showcase the GS3 at MWC and availability will be delayed to around July.

Sony Hayabusa will battle the GS3 instead

@Xajel,

I dont think fast charge will be part of S and Ion as they have qualcomm, fast charge is made by st ericsson, so I think it might be available with U as that has novathor.. Althought I will gladly except if I am wrong and be very amazed with the fast charge of S(my future phone )

I don't know exactly which chipset as we don't know if any other company has such chip...

Even though I don't know which chip they used for it, it might be ST-Ericsson and it might not... the point is the charge/battery controller is separated from the main chipset, just look at Xperia arc and it's 0% battery problem, the chip it self is dead, that's why the phone is reporting 0% in all cases...

Posted by Platia1
This Fast Charge talk is a bit silly, i bet if I charge my Arc for 10 minutes I will get an hour of use as well :-/

Product managers in both Germany, Austria, Schweiz, Holland and Sweden have all confirmed it has fast charge.

Posted by djin
This is definitely good news about the fast charge.

@Platia1,

The 10minute = 1hour charge is just too broad definition to compare, If 10min charge = 1 hour talktime its really good, but if = standby time then not so amazing, 1hour wifi browsing?, 3g? etc. I hope you get my point. The main feature of fast charge is that it charges at higher ampere which is 3 instead of 1.5A without effecting the battery, so the total charge time is reduced by 50%.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
This fast charge thing sounds great, if its one thing i dont like about my Galaxy S2 its how long it takes to charge up

Not going to get a Xperia S but im so excited about it, looks like a realy winner.

anti-stain coating on white Xperia S..

Love it.

Actually both color variants have the anti-stain coating. They demonstrated it on the white one so you can see it better

Xperia Active uses Gorilla Glass.

I had a friend of mine who had x10 with the shutter proof cover on, and he had abused that phone so much like dropping it every other day and what not, yet the screen was ok suprisingly but it did have quite a bit scratches.. So i guess it might be good enough?

Posted by Bonovox
Yes the shatter proof sheeth is good for protection though the screen itself is more scratch proof.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
The X10's screen is very strong, i removed that shatterproof sheet a few weeks after getting the phone...nearly 2yrs later now and not a single scratch, same with my K850's screen which is also Mineral Glass, 4years now and the screen is still as good as new.
I think they should stick with Mineral Glass, seems to be just as Corning's "Gorilla Glass".

Posted by Bonovox
That sheet is a bugger to remove

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Lol, yep, indeed, it also made the phone more responsive when you took it off.

Posted by moogoo
i took the shatter proof sheet off my x10 and a few weeks later, dropped it on my kitchen tile. it landed on a corner and the result was spider cracks that covered the lower left 25% of my screen. it was still usable, but an ugly eyesore.

Would it hav ehapened w/ the shatterproof sheet on? who knows.. but i will never go without a protective layer on my phone again...

Posted by Bonovox
I think or Sony rather should make the shatter proof sheet also scratch resistant rather than having to take it off to avoid scratches
