It should get better.
Or some apps cause this. In general XS has a great batt life.

If you've not downloaded .55 firmware - do it. I'm finding the phone to be quicker, the bugs with the album are gone and the radio seems to work perfectly. The battery life is still excellent. I think the software was Slovenian and got it from XDA for my UK generic.

As the name suggest it is there only to prevent glass fragments from spreading around in the event you drop the phone and the screen shatters.

i don't want to continue having a second guard over it but once the pre installed one attracts scratches,i will obviously have to replace it with the normal one's avail. in the market...

Once you remove the shatter proof sheet, you don't necessarily need another screen protector if you only want to protect against scratches since the glass in under is already scratch resistant.

That is exactly what i wanted to know...so there goes my secondary screen guard

I know of a few people who have bought these and the screens have become totally unresponsive and stopped working especially the white ones, does the white one have known issues or even the black one? are these Xperia S models prone to developing faults?

I Have a white one and no screen problems.

Only my battery seems to go very quick... a little desapointed by this mybe i use too much the phone... i don't know, Its my first Android Smartphone, before i have a Satio and the 1000mAh was very good but only 3.5" screen and 1/100 of the app. I only use Satio for Facebook and news reading, with XS its addictive to surf on web and apps...

Just read that Xperia S only go to get JB update on April 2013 plus... i just bought a Xperia S (3 weeks)

...last Sony Smartphone for me!

I Think Xperia line was different for Sony and they pay more attention to flagship models...

...i bought a SE Satio in Nov 2009... top of the line for SE... saw maybe 2 updates all life time... they release the phone and forget they have made it and sell it and some people bought it. A disappointing...

In Portugal some say... The first fall everyone falls... the second only fall the donkey's ones... the third... only falls the ones that want to fall!

No more Sony for me! After SE k750i, SE w880i, SE Satio, SE Elm...

I feel the same, this is most likely my last se/sony phone.

I have no idea why Xperia S gets the upgrade so late
but it's ridiculous.

Brief sneak peek at Xperia S Jelly Bean firmware

The Sony Xperia S (LT26i) is not due to receive the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware update until April at the earliest, but that hasn’t stopped a few screenshots leaking out courtesy of DooMLoRD from xda-developers. It looks like that the new build number will begin with 6.2.X.X.XX and a new 3.4 kernel will be used, compared to the current 3.08 kernel.

Xperia S owners will get a number of features seen on newer handsets such as Power management, Find My Xperia and Screen mirroring. The new lock screen will also be part of the update. Click through to see some photos (if you’re wondering about the text rendering in the images, DooMLoRD says there was an issue whilst testing).

I experienced something strange yesterday. For some reason, my ear speaker was not working. I couldn't hear anything (calls, voicemail, tones, etc). The loud speaker on the back would work, but not consistently. Even function tester app was unable to make them work. I tried restarting several times to no avail.

In a stroke of desperation, as I was feeling pretty bummed that my phone might be broken, I plugged my headphones in to see if that would work and lo and behold, they worked perfectly. I then removed the headphones and the music continued to play through the loud speaker. I was ecstatic! So, I tried listening to a voicemail and the ear speaker worked again and continued to.

My theory is for some reason, while removing my headphones at an earlier time, some kind of mixup happened and caused the speakers not to work. How or why, I don't know. But plugging them back in and removing them "reset" whatever happened. The sad part, is why did it take me almost a full day to realize there was a problem? oh.. because no one calls or texts me.. FOREVER ALONE. haha.

ANyway, just wanted to post this for anyone who comes across this problem. Fear not, for there is a possible solution!

Yes, that's another one, what will we see 1st? The ACTUAL PS4 gaming machine itself, the JB update for the Xperia S or Christmas???

Personally can't wait to see the actual PS4, I'm a Playstation fanboy, no shame about it, simply refuse to leave PS for Xbox. Gran Tourismo being the main reason, to this day there is simply no better car racing simulator with such great attention to detail.

I still remember k900 saying the jb update for the S is taking so long because they will give it a lot more features. Small apps etc. Needless to say, it will be worth the wait. I'm certain about that. It should be a few weeks now. I got trolled by the ps4 event, I really wanted to see it. Not hard to understand why they didn't show it though.

And the reason I can never get an xbox is because it looks like someone had a fit when designing the controller...

There's a few Samsung Galaxy S2 models that are using the S3 Snapdragon that have received JB, including the Canadian Rogers S2 LTE, which got its update this week: http://www.phonearena.com/new[....]r-Android-4.1.2-update_id39947

There's two Skyrockets with the S3 processor and the link only talk about Roger's phones.
And searching a bit more I've found that's using 3.0.8+ kernel when the test firmware on XPS are using the latest 3.4.0+.
Oh,and the update is fresh too.
So,it's just peeve with Sony. (to annoy, for a change )

In this video, you can see the nice new features:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNAjubwjP0E

And from zomqbbqftw:

ST-E are not going to build drivers for 4.2 or above for U8xxx which is what the P/Go use. Sony and Samsung are said to be very cross about this (P/Sola/Go/U for Sony and GS3 Mini use NovaThor), Qualcomm had a similar policy for Scorpion, but they put Scorpion onto the 5.0 stream recently which allows phones using MSM8260 to be updated 5.0 if they have enough RAM and storage.

It would be great to develop the software. But to demand a little more than this would quite obviously be asking too much.

anyone having any heating issues with the XS?while on 3G esp.

My 5months Experience with Xperia SL(Black)

-Battery Cover, Body, Pre-Installed Anti Shatter Proof Sheet, Led Strip and Mineral Glass are Easily Scratched , I have already removed the preinstalled sheet, bought a replacement battery cover and my phone have a large scratched below back icon. and for the Glass when i removed the sheet, it got micro scratches already, this cannot be easily see by the eyes, you need a good light(flashlight) and proper position to see it.
-Body is Slippery.
-When Playing HD Games, if the Temperature reaches atleast 42C, the CPU Throttles Down, it underclock itself to 810MHZ, so games have FPS drop and they lag, need to cool it down before playing again with good performance.
-A lot of Bugs in ICS specially in Camera Department.
-Yellow Tinting below the screen, not easily seen, but on light background it is visible(its different from XS)
-Android Version might not get passed 4.1

I'll rate it 7/10
