I am still a bit shocked that some users updating their devices the official way
complain about it and some others are very happy...

Hey guys, does anybody else receive the message, that com.android.phone has stopped functioning since updating to ICS? It always pops up, when I disable flight mode. It also seems like Sim-Toolkit can't run on ICS. I didn't notice any restrictions so far because of them though...

Yes, I receive the same message, but just when I make a call. I am waiting for my smart wireless headset pro from amazon in order to perform a factory reset.

I hope that solves the issue.

Or anyone has a final solution?

I have another question: how do you get the Xperia S image for your avatar?? I don't see the option in my menu.

Type Sony Xperia S in the "search for a model" part of the avatar preferences.

Thanks a lot bro. Now I have my right avatar. There is no way to select the color right? Cause mine is the white one. ..

I have been thinking.

The SXS that got their screen replaced, did they get a 342PPI screen installed?

I'm asking if anyone knows because the 342PPI were a big sales pitch for the phone!

Updating now through PC Companion...

Edit:
Done, now the phone makes Apps Optimalization...

Ok just updated.
The process was buttery smooth!

So far - good...

UI has sometimes little glitches on homescreen...
WiFi looks OK but a little unstable on coverage.

What is annoying - Sony didn't change their Email app philosophy,
so it still keeps only 50 emails on the phone!
Making the app useless cr..p.
Facebook doesn't show the new timeline - hmm!
Strange, but widely reported...

Walkman/music player lost most of my cover art (!!!).

Free memory dropped to about 240MB RAM, will observe it further.

Other than that it looks great and works well, is smoother and it's just a bit better than GB..

I'll see further, any questions?

Posted by doministry
Hmm...

Radio doesn't work - produces nasal, destroyed sound. Clearly a bug.

UI is sometimes so fast and snappy but sometimes juts laggy and slow.

So nice upgrade but not perfect.

Posted by Ranjith
true, laggy at times.main issue i face is the slow response when i click "PHONE" to dial

btw is the Facebook sync working well?i keep getting "Could not Synchronize Facebook" in my notifications.

Posted by doministry
Well I never use this Facebook sync.....

The main issue is Radio bug.

Other than that the phone works really well..

Posted by Spinz
I cannot get the Top Contacts widget to work properly. After so many tries re-signing FB and FB inside Xperia, somehow I don't know exactly I got it to work and sync with the Facebook but after 2 days only I am now getting the error that there seems to be a problem with Sync and should be back shortly.

How to get it working again.

Seems like there are different front camera modules:

Has anyone else bought a more powerful charger? I bought a 2amp Blackberry Playbook charger and the XS charges so, so much quicker than using the standard charger. It's worth getting a 2amp charger.

Me three...
Sorry, unfortunately no informations yet. All I know is, that the colour doesn't matter.

6.1.A.1.58 and 6.1.A.0.453 updates have just been certified by the PTCRB:

I just really hope Sony will quickly upgrade X S.
Because this ICS is a buggy piece of shit.

To all wondering:
DON'T upgrade to ICS until the patch will be released!!

On GB this phone was brilliant, ICS currently is crap!
Oh how I wish I would wait!

Why don't you guys all push for Sony to skip ICS entirely and go to JellyBean ... it may resolve a LOT of issues you're experiencing ... just a thought. It seems that even Google abandoned ICS (how long has ICS been live for anyway?)

Its not that easy though, Sony have had to invest a lot to get this ICS update through e.g. re-tailoring their Android UI to ICS, developing drivers, testing, getting the update to the networks, the networks testing it, cleaning out bugs etc...its far too late to scrap now.

I'm having problem in the recent call scrolling menu, when I scroll downwards it keeps jumping back to top randomly. Is there any way to rectify it? My phone's running on stock ICS 4.04

Yes, I can see 6.1.A.0.453 but it fails at every attempt!

Have you been successful?

Can you guys tell me which country your phones are made? I'm wondering if the different front camera modules are indicating a different country of origin or different factories.

Well guys, absolutely disable Force 2D GPU rendering in developer options.

This thing when ON makes some apps work not properly including radio.

With this OFF all is fine and the radio works....

New Firmware (unless already mentioned in this thread).

6.1.A.2.34
Source: XperiaBlog

I don't own XS so I cannot state whats new.
New firmware has been certified for the Sony Xperia S, version 6.1.A.2.34 was certified yesterday. The version number is a small departure from the last firmware certified (6.1.A.0.454), leading some to speculate that this may be Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. We believe this will be another Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware update, but we’ll have to wait to see to find out exactly what improvements it brings.

The Japanese equivalent of the Xperia S, the Xperia NX (SO-02D) has also had new firmware certified with version number 6.1.F.0.91 popping up on PTCRB. This same firmware has also been certified for the water resistant Xperia acro HD (SO-03D) in Japan.

I'm living with Xperia S for 3 days now

12W30 shipped with OS 4.0.4 (6.1.A.0.452 to be exact)

Battery stay up about 12 hours on moderately use (mostly to catch social nets up)

I'm notice battery drop on standby approximately 10% in few hours after discharge, even everything all close that's seem strange to me.

It's normally expect from Android or I'm too worry?

P.S. I'm jumped from iPhone 3GS

Posted by annafee
Make sure to turn down the brightness to 40-50%. Keep the brightness bar at exactly half position it helps. Also avoid keeping WiFi and Bluetooth always on. Turn them off when you don't need them. Also shut down recent apps by holding the home button and swiping to the left.................. That should suffice.

You only need 50% of brightness if you have any kind of problem with your eyes. I usually let it at 20% at normal usage and almost 0% during night on dark places. About closing apps, there was an extensive test that proved that that doesn't help nothing with performance neither battery.

Thanks for suggestion, keep watching..
