I doubt it'll have a death grip. if that's what you're going for

Posted by DACHA
The first XPERIA S units will arrive in the week commencing 5 March 2012.

Posted by Bonovox
@mustafabay yes i was pointing out that issue yes. Lets hope not eh??

Sony Xperia S is now up for pre-order at UK retailer Clove £468 commencing 5 March 2012
Play.com are doing it for £449.99 and have a launch date of 9 March 2012.
eBuyer have it for £429.99 for launch of 12 March 2012

Posted by dibdin
Is that just the black version that will be available in March? Much prefer the white

More camera Samples!~ It seems that the resolution is more clearer as in it can capture more details. With good light, photo seem to do very well, as shown in the first macro shot of the food:

No.

First shot look at the amount of noise, horrible. Second shot, who the hell took that??
Other shots have poor detail

Posted by mediar
WTF, my W910 can do better shot than this! Rubbish...

Posted by Bonovox
Well the second shot is obviously user error but the top one is full of noise like Satio & recent Xperia models. Shame

^ Eldar praising SE! Never!

"it uses a different pinout, CTIA, more simply, as the iPhone. Accessories from the usual Sony Ericsson will not work, this also applies to wired headsets LiveSound"

Another area where it is sounding like the iPhone, that is now 3 things this device has in common with it...a sign of things to come?

Posted by moogoo
i don't even know what that means... can i use whatever headphones i want or not?

anyway, i'll be waiting til second half of 2012 to see the true flagship ... if it doesn't impress or simply doesn't appear, then i'll pick up the S at a discounted (at that time) price. Win Win...

I just have to chug along with my x10 for now...

Posted by adsada
it basically is the type of headphone jack, iPhone uses a type so that both left and right sound and the microphone can be used. SE did this in their 2011 lineup but it was different in that it could also be used with livesound headphones, the livekey button etc.

It's available for preorder - "Vorbestellbar, Liefertermin unbekannt" aka "Preorder, shipment unknown".

Technically, that's true. It wasn't Eldar who wrote the review but Sergey Kuzmin.

This means that IPhone compatible headphones that previously did no work with SE phones will now work with the new 2012 line up. It also means that SE headphones complient with the 2011 line up will not work with the 2012 line up.

No, since there are still two different standards (or scools) for headphone connectors (they look the same but the ground and mic pin's are placed differently in these two "standards").

I'd say some phone dedicated headsets might not work because of the microphone technology/connectors implemented.
But all the headphones for music will work, just like with any other phone and iPhone too.

Firstly the noise can be easily controlled in settings, just depends what you choose.
Just like on my Arc. I can practically make almost noise free pics in most, also night scenarios.
So I have no idea what are you referring to, and spreading this cr..p again.

Secondly why the hell you take seriosuly some random shots somebody has taken.
Wait for some serious reviews not some bull..hit websites.

Posted by Bonovox
I am not spreading any crap just saying my opinion on what i think and like the Arc and Arc S the camera before it is quite average imo. I seen poor Arc photos before release and nothing changed upon final retail firmware. As i said i love the phone but i am let down so far on what i see for image quality. Seriously mate can i not have my opinion?? If you don't like what i say then ignore it.

Yes personal opinions are very valuable.
But you just repeat the wrong info here,
saying that these cameras have too much noise is stating a fact,
not just having subjective opinion.
See the difference?
I've seen bad photos made by any camera in the world,
just because it also requires a basic photo skill to take any sensible photo.

Exactly!
What more do people want ? For a camera phone it produces better pictures than any other Android handset out there and is only slightly inferior to the N8. Sony never said this was an N8 beater or simply the best camera on a phone EVER. Did they ?
They only said that the Ion/S will have the best camera on an Android device and they didn't lie about that. There is no other Android device that comes close.

@Bonovox
I suggest you download Full Size Xperia Ion Phone Arena samples and also the comparison shots from a Panasonic point and shoot camera. Take a look at both at 100% size and then post what you find here.
IMO it has about the same noise as the Panasonic point and shoot and MORE detail in some shots.

I already did that and i still stand but i still stand by what i say. From what i can see is a 12 meg camera and its awful. For the benefit of not pissing you all off i will not pass any more camera comments till i see the final samples. But i really do not see anything fantastic. Sorry

How many here planning to get the Xperia S ? I know I will. But not sure about the color though
White seems to be the favored option I guess

Most impressive. Im curious how this generation of Xpeeria will perform in similar situations.

from mobile-review

"While not say a word about the price, employees SE smile and say that there will be a pleasant surprise. I believe, twenty-something thousand, can twenty-five. Also, we can assume that the Xperia S is not the flagship device, but a kind of golden mean, best-selling (and as such it may be). There will be something even cooler.

I can see me getting it. Whether I can hold out for the white one which I really like is another thing.

does anyone know the rumored price for Xperia S?

Why rumored? It's already available for pre-order:

@sunrise_ Nice. Thanks!

Posted by argiriano
I also like camera samples in PhoneArena site. Maybe they are not exceptional, but compairing it with Panasonic point-and-shoot camera which have some good optics make them look pretty good.
Maybe I`m not so demanding as others but I just think we can expect point-and-shoot camera quality at best. It's phone camera after all.

Posted by rickster2kuk
I also thought these camera samples, which I assume were from the Ion were the best I've seen so far from the phone:

http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]cssons-upcoming-13mp-behemoth/

I can't see any reason why they'd differentiate the camera on the Ion from the S.

i hate those benchmark things.... they are not true to everyday usage. i find it very hard to believe it performed that poorly...

Posted by rickster2kuk
Camera samples are coming in at about 3mb - 3.5mb, so definitely better than the paltry 1mb photos from the Arc.

Posted by goldenface
It's a great looking phone. One of the best looking yet IMO.
