Hello
I have used my new xperia S for four days, for the moment no problem of lag or yellow tint. I am very satisfied.
Perhaps the key "return" which is not the most practical...
I would like to know which type of case you use you to protect yours ? (Maybe with some links ?)
Thank you

If I buy this sim free will the ICS update be carrier dependent? I'm looking to order 1 of Play.com this week. Of all the current android phones I like the look of this one the most. I'm not too keen on the timescape skin but I can live with it.

Is battery good enough to get me though 7/8 hours with light/moderate usage? Maybe a few mins of web browsing and the occasional whatsapp message?

Posted by NightBlade
It should at least last you a day. I mean, I've been using it rather heavily (read: playing with it) the past few days and that's how long it takes.

Also, timescape is an app, not a skin. The skin (UXP) is very light and non-intrusive and actually fits in well with the ICS design. You can even pick the colour scheme. IMHO, it's better than any other Android skin I've used.

Ok thanks. In regards to loading on pics if I wanted to dump pics straight from my camera (around 4/5mb per pic) will I incurr any rendering problems or slowness in loading? On iphone I believe itunes optimises them as you sync them but im not sure how the Sony will handle them if I am just dumping them on the phone directly.

I use the case I got with X S by default.

I wait for ISSENTIEL cases though.

@bavlondon2

The battery works really well, more or less like Arc.
As for pics I believe Sony doesn't do any stupid optimization when putting on phone. If understand what you mean....

Mine seems to heat up a lot after I play with it for a little while, it'll get so hot that it becomes uncomfortable in my hand. Has anyone else been having similar problems?

Hi everyone!

Got a Docomo white battery cover and also some hard covers from Japan!

Finish on the covers is great and I think my photo's just show some cosmic dust that fell out of the package!

The covers are red graduated to black, and black graduated to silver

I like the look of the white battery cover in the black Xperia S

Ofiaich how ya doing mate?? Been putting your phone into flight mode lately So you got an XS then?? You sure don't wanna drop that out of a plane

Posted by bavlondon2
Can I get those covers on ebay?

Posted by ofiaich
Hi !

@Bonovox, My XS will be in flight mode next Tuesday! Off to China for 2 weeks! I'll ask the pilot to keep the windows and doors closed!

@bavlondon2 not sure if you can get them on EBay, as I never used it.

The Xperia S is called Xperia NX AO-02D in Japan.

Do you not miss the transparent strip at the back because I really like that aspect of the design? If the inside of the back cover was red for example, would that make the strip look red when it lights up?

I ordered a hard back case from ebay for 99p, I was slightly concerned about how the quality would be. But I am very impressed the case feels really smooth and high quality in the hand and fits the phone perfectly. The bottom side was a bit rough (end of the mould I'm guessing) but a quick rub with sandpaper and its fine. Said case then went up to £3 on ebay, so really pleased I got in early.

I would still recommend it as its worth £3 for sure!
Also it makes the transparent bar blue which is pretty cool

Here are some phatoes of it

(Don't judge me about the screen, I put a protector on it, but it looks ugly and scratched... tempted to remove it )

Looks better without those covers, IMO.

Posted by adsada
I would be inclined to agree with you, but I've seen pictures over at XDA which show that the phone gets scuffed quite easily and the plastic used is actually quite brittle. So I'm going to sacrifice looks to protect my baby

That said, I don't think it looks THAT bad though I mean it still fits nice in the hand and I've seen worse cases, cannot stand gel ones. The colour is a tad blue maybe would have opted for the grey or red ones...

Issentiel are great.
What I look for is the carry pouch, nothing what locks the device.
I like to take it out and carry the phone in the original form...

I hope pouch will just stay in good condition for a long time.

Posted by blackvodka
wow those covers are really cute, good choice guys!!
I'm still using the phone without cover, though... and have removed the sreen protector, now it feels lighter and thinner

Posted by bavlondon2
I liked the look of this phone but I've decided to go with the Moto Razr XT910.

Posted by doministry
Interesting - why?

Posted by bavlondon2
I like the look of it more than anything, but I've heard good things about the battery too.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Did you get the RAZR MAXX?
Motorola's have generally had good batt life,i often read nothing but positive comments about the Droid X and Atrix battery life, i think its due to the TI OMAP chips they use.

Posted by bavlondon2
There's only a few on ebay at the moment and I needed one asap so I ordered the XT910.

Posted by floke
Did anyone try the NFC transfer function? I tried to send a photo to a Nexus Galaxy but I gotta error message.

This month, supposedly. Or early June.

Or something...

Posted by rickster2kuk
Tbh, the more the drag is gong on waiting for ICS I've got used to the smoothness of the modded GB. It is very good and smooth.

ICS will come, it's just the wait has been so long now I've kind of got used to it .

Was about to pick up the S till i heard about the Screen issues!.

Posted by annafee
Hopefully the screen issues would be gone in future models....... assuming Sony rectifies their screen production process.

It seems they have already done that. But what about the ones in stores now.Really dont want to buy a new phone and then have to send it away for days!

Posted by az_ajay
I bought Xperia S few days ago. No yellow tint issue. But it takes too much time to charge, about 3 hours. Even my old satio fully charge in just 1.30 hours.

Posted by annafee
That's strange....so much for FAST CHARGING for you..................i never heard such an issue ...everyone says that it charges pretty fast..........

Ya, and I also search many forums and found that fast charge work with EP850 charger. I got EP800 charger in the box. Is it true?

Yes, it is true. The EP800 which is used on some markets only delivers around 0.8 A current while EP850 delivers around 1.5 A. That's why the phone charges faster with EP850 than EP800.

Clearely something is wrong either with your phone or charger.

Went ahead and picked mine in White!

Tried Micro simming myself and failed.so no Sim for now.and it doesn't detect my WIFI connection without SIM even when my P1 does!?
BTW is there a screen guard already on?

Posted by reclo

From time to time it is well to say the things as they are.
And for the moment I must say that I am very glad to have chosen the XS.
No problems to be announced, neither yellow tint, neither lags, nor disappointment .........
Of course there's other brands, yes and ?
In short I am very satisfied with my purchase !

Posted by Spinz
I got gifted a white one, 12w12. No yellow tint but when i go to the service menu i see that on the bottom the screen is a bit dull, and when i flip over the phone the dullness is gone, so it maybe the way i hold the phone makes the led's look dull at a certain angle.

But i'm loving the phone. Its the best phone I ever had and I had Iphone-4, S-2, HTC-Desire HD before. Came straight from Arc-S with ICS now and I miss the ICS on the XS.

When its updated to ICS I think it'll be the perfect phone...

PS. Seriously why did SONY gave it a back cover, Its flimsy, doesn't fit properly and looks like it'll come off any moment. A serious design flaw in an otherwise great phone

Posted by annafee
Even the arc's back cover had creaking issues. Dont know what's up with them. gr8 design, nothing major but the creaks destroy your experience at hand....... However some say that it's fine....even when i held one in the hand i had no such issues neither with my arc.....but i know some unit do face this problem........many order new battery cover from ebay due to this problem.....

Posted by adsada
Try sticking some blue-tac in between the cover and the back (small pieces) I did this in both the bottom corners (where the two holes are) and it made my cover rock solid.

Posted by NightBlade
My back cover's perfectly tight. No problems there.

Posted by az_ajay
Mine too. Perfectly tight. And I think I should buy another charger.

Posted by CyTyler
I decided to buy a XperiaS but rumours about battery consumption is frightening me .

Any users had experienced this ??

Posted by DarkKrypt
for the users with back cover issues, make sure you put it on perfect, as its a precise fit.
if you dont it will move abit.

the battery is fine if you have the latest update
if not go through pc and update to the latest firmware

Do you guys have problem with the yellow areas on the screen? Is it solved with new producted devices?

Posted by Cruizer6
Hey guys,
I already posted few days ago but no one replied so I'm trying my luck one more time as I am allowed to take my phone back only within first 30 days and get straight away a replacement. My phone heats up quite a bit at the top back part when I use it for about 15 minutes. Does everyone else's seem to do the same thing or it stays cool for Yous? I really alreachiate anyone's help and thank you in advance!

Posted by NightBlade
Yeah, mine heats up too, but only if I play games or something processor intensive.
